After a what seemed like an eternity, I finally received my Bat-Pod last night. I was very surprised because I was expecting Lego to send me the tracking information, but nothing ever came of it and FedEx just showed up at the door. My first thoughts on this set are just spectacular. I'm a huge Dark Knight fan. I've seen the movies many times over, so I was naturally stoked when I heard about this contest. What a fantastic prize. I'm shocked to see Lego do something like this as a contest. It was a pretty straight forward build with nothing really too overly complicated. It's also pretty solid. I know I committed a huge sin in some investors eyes, but I don't care, It looks fantastic next to my tumbler and I will never get rid of this set. And besides, it will still be worth a ton of money regardless of the fact that I broke the seals. The box is pretty nifty with all the different angle views of the bat-pod on the box. One thing I find a tad odd are the instructions. It's actually thicker paper than your normal run of the mill thin paper instructions, but I would've expected maybe something along the lines of an architecture type of binding and quality. (I really shouldn't complain honestly though since it was a free set, but I can't shake the feeling that all the effort put into this set they could've done something really special with the instructions.) One of the biggest things, is that there are like 3 or 4 mistakes in the instructions that had me scratching my head a couple of times trying to figure out what in the hell they were trying to get me to do. But the actual pictures do help out, so you need to keep an eye out for those. I think what I find intriguing is Lego never actually making this a regular production set to go along with the tumbler. This thing would sell tons. Who knows, maybe Lego one day will put it into production.

Yeah, but think about the target audience. How many Sci Fi / Fantasy fans have enough alone time to devote to building an expensive lego set. Oh right, lots of alone time. Lots.

I finally made a display of the HP sets that I picked up last month. These are the ones that I am keeping (more accurately giving away on an extended loan) and I never knew that you could stack the 4709 castle (or any of series 1) on top of other sets; that is really cool! I think that the second picture gives you a view of one castle in front of the other to make it appear larger when looking straight on because the roofing tiles line up perfectly. There are 3 castles, Dumbledore's office, forbidden corridor, Snape's class, Maurader Map, a Buckbeak, and Gringott's Bank in these pictures

This is what happens when Lego half asses an entire line that already needed to be excellent to get people interested in it again. Had they come out with an innovative ship like Imperial Frigate(but smaller obviously) and nice outpost buildings, these would have been gobbled up. But they sucked worse than the last Pirates line and nobody wanted them. You hear me Lego? Heck, maybe pirate stuff is done for good in the toy realm. PotC ships were amazing and they suffered at retail as well.

Time for it to go. I hope TLG pulls another Town Hall and $149 seems sort of low priced now for a modular given that there will be other modulars for $159 and 169. So confusing for the consumer -which to choose .

K-Mart online has the joker steamroller down to $41. Coupons worked fine with this set. I know these could be had for $25 at Target a few months earlier, but with some points, coupons, raise cards, it's possible to get these lower than $25 depending on your situation. I had some expiring points that I needed to use ASAP, so it was a good fit for me.

Always describe box damage, and make it sound worse than it is. The 'I must have a perfect box!' type are seldom worth the hassle anyway. One problem is that you simply cannot prevent all cosmetic damage in shipment, no matter how well you pack. Ideally, folks who obsess over box condition would send me a message before buying so I could just block them.

I'm very happy with my AWD Santa's Workshop. It arrived with a banged up box, but seals still intact and in decent shape.

Sold two pairs of the Bat-Pod/Tumbler tires for $70 per pair shipped. Buy-in was about $24 per pair last week from the Lego B&P website.

FYI the new 15% off with CC that stacks with the 20% does not stack with the 10% TRUTH. So you can use the 15% any day of the week to the same effect. Since today is Thursday I focused on transactions that with 2 items to get the bricktober set to benefit slightly from TRUTH. Most expensive item got 20%, 15% and $5 off and the other item got 20% and 10% TRUTH. Once I sell the bricktober set my buy in is just over 50% of MSRP of whatever it is I am buying. Slightly more on big sets like the Millennium Falcon. Will buy large single sets throughout the week since TRUTH is no longer needed on them.

My last 6860 Bat Cave for $115 shipped on Amazon (FBA). It was a $42 buy-in, so I'll take 100% profit in less than a year. I need to move more of this stuff to make room for this year's crop (and my long term storage, of course).

I was just looking at stuff at Kmart and came across this notice: Great opportunity to stack with coupons? Members get 10% back in points when you purchase specified LEGO city or LEGO Ninjago items

I spent $270 on parts for 2 of them, but I went with fewer orders which was more expensive. I purchased many new parts on Bricks and Pieces at a higher price and finished up at Bricklink. The thought of navigating Bricklink to find the same seller with many of the parts I was looking for was overwhelming.

I won't speak my opinion about this sets performance in general - However, in response to people saying - "They can't retire this yet, it's only been out since March!" - A few things to consider: 1. The latest "Castle" sets were avail apx 1.5 years. No, not quite as short as this run, but certainly a pretty quick ride. It may be a trend in the "Classic" theme lines, short runs because the appeal is narrowing (Probably the AFOL who has fond memories of them) 2. Many of the POTC line were out for about 1.5 years as well. However, The Black Pearl was avail for only 11 months. 3. Shelf space: 2016 is a pretty big year for LEGO - New themes include Angry Birds, Nexo Knights - the Juniors theme continues to expand and lord knows we'll get a barrage of Star Wars sets. In addition, City (Fire) is getting a refresh, Bionicle, Ninjago is "back", etc etc. There's only so much room out there. Themes like Castle and Pirate with small set runs I think are basically DESIGNED as easily replacible filler. 4. Dimensions - Yes, the sets aren't in the same spot, but they can only promo and sell so many things. Dimensions is obviously "kind of a big deal" for TLG. So for this set/theme to disappear between Christmas and spring I think would be completely reasonable given the circumstances.

I'm cool with BB. DO bugs me a bit, since it simply does not fit with the other modulars. It's a gritty, wrong side of the tracks sort of building. All the rest are very upscale, 5th Avenue types. In surveys, 93% of minifigures say they would cross to the other side of the street to avoid walking past the DO. Unless they wanted some 'cookies', of course, but no one ever admits that in surveys...

Still $19.99 on the Bricktobers here... so on the AT-DP's, I'm not a poly investor, but those that I like, I'll get maybe 3 to put in my 401K (i.e. save for long term). And I like these, but then I thought, "Let's get 4 so my son can open one" (We missed out on the Lego promo). Then I'm thinking, well... if I get 7, then I can use the $5 off coupon (7 x $3.99 = $28)... bringing my cost down... so I did. I get home and look at my receipt and realize, if I just bought the 3, I'd have paid $10.77 + tax. But instead I talked myself into $20.62 + tax for seven. Saving a few cents each, I end up spending twice as much

Why oh why must we associate Jek with food? We never saw him eat in the movie. For all we know Jek Porkins meant "the thinnest one" in his dead alien language. I did not say I hate the picture btw

I couldn't disagree more. I do agree I would skip v1 if I were buying in Feb, but would I return those that I have? Absolutely not! Do you really believe parents are going to tell their kids, "Sorry Timmy, I know you want one for Christmas and I'm prepared to spend $100 for it, but there's a $4 neck issue with this one, so let's just wait until the middle of February"? I have the LEGO CS number I can provide to demanding customers if I do get someone that is upset over a known neck issue which costs $4 to fix. And to be honest, I don't believe kids give a flying kite about the 'drooping' neck issue, not so much that they'd rather wait for 2 months instead of getting one for Christmas.
