I get it. I don't know if discussing money laundering is appropriate for a kid's toy, but I understand the dark humor. Maybe LEGO could have designed the next Modular around a dry cleaner so it could be placed next to a properly designed bank. I have an idea...How about a Chinese Restaurant for our next Modular so we can place it next to the Pet Shop?6 points

Nice set. In this case though, they could have saved the dry cleaners for another interior Modular. I think it takes away from overall appearance of an important corner set. The truly iconic corner sets look better as one building IMO. A bank could have and should have been a special set.6 points

You know, I missed out on a 1953 Corvette, but I don't think Chevrolet will reissue the car for me and other fans....Lame excuse.4 points

You clearly missed the part where they use the laundromat to launder money. I guess it's pretty successful4 points

Ed received the first copy of the book to review from the publishers and I am finally getting my first look at it. I have to say, it's pretty exciting to see months of work in a completed form. It really looks great and very proud of it. There is only about a month to go before it's released to the public which will be both exciting and nerve wracking to see what everyone thinks. If you haven't preordered it yet, pre-order it from Amazon now!3 points

I like it - the colors are excellent. Though I do wish they had ditched the laundromat and made a more epic bank with the entrance on the corner, with a grand staircase entryway, etc. If they continue making modulars this way, some of the older, bigger ones like TH and GE will become even more sought after.3 points

I agree that the Laundromat is completely out of place - I am pretty sure that rent levels (at this location) would make the success of such an establishment impossible.3 points

Finished the Trevi Fountain this morning and this has been my largest Architecture model to date (I've not built the houses or the Imperial hotel). I've built enough of these to know what I was getting into: tiny pieces, repetitive elements, tight spaces but this thing wore on my patience a bit. (turning page) "Wait, I need 6 of THOSE now!?!?" ...and I probably spent 10 minutes getting the horses placed correctly. They kept coming apart though I don't think they could more substantial without ruining the scale. Overall fun build. I really like the water bits more than I thought I would (the rocks DID get tedious) and the book/instruction is well done.3 points

I'm not going to repeat the entire thing here, but the current rumor for the next modular is this: I guess we might find out on Monday. The bank next to a laundry mat, according to the rumor, will have some playability that allows for thieves to rob the bank and then "launder" their money at the laundry mat.3 points

You can take it to the bank that there will be an announcement this weekend.3 points

For those of you who might want to figure out how to find those "hidden gems" we have been talking about lately on the forums, this book can aid in that quest. I spent more than a half a year researching and writing about many of the major (and not so major) themes and some of the most important sets from each. For the novices and beginners out there, there is a tremendous amount of information in this book about LEGO sets as collectibles. Even veterans of the LEGO collecting and investing world might learn a thing or two (...or at least enjoy the pictures...LOL).3 points

StarWars10 New Promo code for Oct 16-30th on Star Wars Figures, Vehicles, Role Play and Building Sets (Lego included). Save $10 when you spend $40 on regular priced items. Excludes any SW Lego set 229.99 and above and clearance (this leads me to believe that items on sale still count) I have used the card successfully in the past in-store on sale items, but not sure about online. Worth a shot. You can also get the physical card at TRU from buying anything Star Wars, no minimum required. I bought like a Star Wars candy and the cashier gave me a card. I did not have to ask for it.2 points

I wouldn't put too much stock into any weirdness at LEGO Shop at Home. That website is constantly having issues.2 points

It looks smallish but I'm liking it the more I look at it. It seems like the last 3 years, there is a decrease in overall height compared to earlier modulars with an increase in the complexity of both interior and exterior driving up the piece count. This has a slightly less piece count than Parisian Restaurant and is $10 higher. There are 5 modulars now on the timeline. There is a clear financial incentive for TLG to axe the lower priced modulars (PS, PC) to drive sales towards the higher MSRP sets. Now if we could only get another surprise double modular retirement - unlikely but one can hope.2 points

I like it. Nice piece count, facade and detail look great. What's up with lego last year it was sneaking "candy" alcohol during prohibition and this year it is money laundering. Love the pic on the back of the guy actually tossing Gs in the washer Plus BB is a cool name and a much needed break from PS PC PR.2 points

I have to agree. This gaudy over-purchasing direct from Lego turns my stomach a bit. It's SO weird that Lego doesn't like resellers. I can't imagine why.2 points

Just pre-ordered a copy and excited to read through it. Plus, I figured it was a small way to say thanks to you gentlemen for this informative website and all the knowledge found in the forums. A day doesn't go by that I do not at least browse BP. Thanks Again.2 points

I like the main design but the corny side stories (smuggling cookies and now money laundering) are getting to be a little too much.1 point

Well at least that fits right into the pattern LEGO seems to have established over these past years in their line of modular house type of builds. A commercially zoned corner unit with two businesses. "Mainly white and gray with sand green windows". Hmm, that sounds like a design I may have spotted before. I can only think of one laundromat modular that popped up on Eurobricks....and speaking of laundromat, I was reminded of this.1 point

The Ghost has hit clearance in a few places here. I am not sure it is due for retirement as much as clearing space. But it's probably first up on the block, and probably the most important set for Rebels when paired with the Phantom.1 point

My favourite is the Grand Emporium. IMO it is the best looking set of the lot1 point
