  1. Ed received the first copy of the book to review from the publishers and I am finally getting my first look at it. I have to say, it's pretty exciting to see months of work in a completed form. It really looks great and very proud of it. There is only about a month to go before it's released to the public which will be both exciting and nerve wracking to see what everyone thinks. If you haven't preordered it yet, pre-order it from Amazon now!

  5. Just pre-ordered a copy and excited to read through it. Plus, I figured it was a small way to say thanks to you gentlemen for this informative website and all the knowledge found in the forums. A day doesn't go by that I do not at least browse BP. Thanks Again.

  7. Just finished building the new Millenium Falcon! It's a great set! Great build, nice minifigs (although these could have been a little bit better), nice exterior, nice interior. LEGO has been thoughtful enough to leave some imperfections so that advanced builders can enjoy their hobby to the outmost and MOC up the set just a little bit. If I find the time (and the pieces) I'll improve on the landing support, the hatch, the cockpit, connect cockpit to the ship so that minifigures can actually enter and probably pimp up the interior. So as you can see this set has got it all! ;-) P.S. the stickers have been a pain... I think I've done a rather good job but I'm very happy to be done with it!

  9. For those of you who might want to figure out how to find those "hidden gems" we have been talking about lately on the forums, this book can aid in that quest. I spent more than a half a year researching and writing about many of the major (and not so major) themes and some of the most important sets from each. For the novices and beginners out there, there is a tremendous amount of information in this book about LEGO sets as collectibles. Even veterans of the LEGO collecting and investing world might learn a thing or two (...or at least enjoy the pictures...LOL).

  10. I think this happens sometimes. Most of the cases people are lucky to received a battered box and sealed bags. Sometimes a really 'used' item will pop up. I think if the condition is simply used, Amazon won't let you return for free as they'll say it is listed as 'used'. (I had this happen once that minifigures are missing and the rep first asked if I was aware that the list was listed as used. But of course, I told him afterwards that parts are taken away and not all the pieces are in the set I received.) So, technically, if all the pieces are there in your T1, then you are receiving what you ordered - used. But if indeed there is a good number of pieces missing, it is right to ask for a return shipping label. Of course, if you push harder, Amazon will bend regardless............. then, it'll be an ethical argument to be moved to the ethical thread, I guess.

  11. I don't think it's a conspiracy. There were a few articles across multiple sites earlier this year that lego was working on becoming greener. Part of that included packaging, which would allow them to compact more boxes into an area so they could maximize efficiency with their shipping containers. When you really think about it, there is a lot of extra space in a lot of the older lego boxes. Almost to the point, where they could probably ship 10 more units on a palette if they maximized the box sizes.. To me this is just a sign that lego is getting smarter and more efficient.

  12. Mega Bloks Minifigures always looked more accurate. On the other hand the plastic and paintjob always looked cheap. The magic of LEGO is not that it is the most accurate toy ever (shapewise) but the interchangeability. Want to put the turtles head on a businessman suit? No problem. Want to make Splinter to a chef (cook), no problem. With Mega Bloks minifigs that's just not possible. You get what you buy and that's as far as your imagination can go with it. Buying a toy (or whatsoever) for you or your children is always about making decissions. For me there are several reasons why I'd buy LEGO before these other toys. To name just a few: great details, overall good design, high quality for years!, interchangeability of most parts! --> you're never limited to just this one toy. If you buy a Hasbro X-Wing for example you'll end up with a pretty good design and the paintjob allows you to get more details than with LEGO. But this one X-Wing will get boring after some time and end up in Toy-Heaven. Why? Because that's all it is and all it can do... being a big piece of plastic that looks like a X-Wing. With LEGO you can build something new with these bricks. Or add something new. You name it! Same goes for minifigs... of course there are more detailed Vaders out there (or Ninja Turtles) but you cannot swap pieces. Yep these turtles DO look good, but the building? Please... they didn't put much effort into this did they?

  15. Finally got the chance to put together the Ecto-1 that I bought with damaged box discount several months ago. I must say this thing was thoroughly enjoyable. it was funny as I was building the first part of the set I didn't realize it was actually the stand for the action figures. This thing is a very fun build and the side windows were especially intriguing as you put them together. It was a nice surprise to realize how they were connected to each other and to the car itself with a slight angle inwards. I'm always impressed with Lego builds and this one is no disappointment. From an investment angle I can easily see paying $100 for this set. This one will be a winner I have no doubt about it. Regardless of its potential inclusion in a hypothetical GB HQ or not

  17. Wouldn't it be funny if the warehouse workers are all into Lego and they sometimes build sets on their break time. Then they put the pieces back in the box and ship it out to you.

  18. Out of all sets I've purchased over the years, this one is probably the most surprising. Hard to believe it's only up 40-50% after a couple years. After fees and taxes that leaves very little on the table. I would have thought this would be pushing $250 by now. It's a terrific set.

  19. ? Lol if you go back to when the thread started I posted about RE right when it came out because I bought it as soon as my local Walmart got it in stock and I loved it, it was the number #1 set in my opinion and I shared my opinion about it way back then

  24. Not sure if this has been posted yet, but...For those conspiracy theorist out there...my Ferris Wheel arrived with a new box design. Even though it has only been out since June, it has the new Creator Expert logo (with the headlight bricks and not 2x2 bricks with the "star" design). Guess it is in Lego's plan to redesign every box, newer and older. Everybody panic!

  25. That trailer rocked. I have high hopes for some good Rebels sets to support season 2. I love this show but season 2 looks like they've upped it a few notches. That's because they are.

  27. You have to spend $40 at TRU to earn 1 mile. But redeem 95 miles to get a $10 TRU gift card. Without any promos, you'd have to spend $3,800 at TRU before you can even redeem for that $10!

  28. I thought it was 95 miles = $10 Bricktober and Polybags are instore only.

  29. Bricktober set is in store only. TRU $10 airmiles cash rewards cost 95 airmiles each. 1 mile for every $40 spent at TRU, so even with 7x the airmiles there's not a ton of value just in the airmiles. The real value is in the bricktober set and the joker bumper car poly. The airmiles bonus is just icing on the cake. Note: my TRU had a full Jurassic world restock in store, all sets available! (Except RE of course)

  32. Posted a 42043 Arcos for sale on a couple of local sites (similar to craigslist). Had one reply this evening asking about delivery etc. Asked the guy where he was and he's about 2 hours away.He asks for a drop in price since it'll cost him 20 buck on fuel to pick it up. I offered to drop it off when i'm in the neighborhood with work in about 3 weeks. He declines saying he has a buddy that does deliveries near me and asks for 35% off the price i advertised because he has to pay his buddy 10 bucks to pick up. I kindly declined since i listed the set 5% under RRP explaining that he would have trouble finding the sets for this price in store here. His reply: "Ok, I get what your'e saying but although it hasn't been opened it's still second hand, let's not fall out, you will probably sell it anyway, but if not my offer still stands" Again I kindly decline telling him that when i got delivery of the set, it was unpacked, photographed for the listing and put back in its shipping box. No seals were broken nor damage done to the original packaging. He Emails me again asking for the lowest i can do so I offered another 5 bucks off and delivery in person when i'm up his way to save him the 10 bucks for his buddy. Last one i received he starts calling me friend and asking for "mates rates" and wants 30% off what i'm offering so we can meet halfway on Monday! Only reason i will meet this guy is to stamp on his head!!

  33. I think this one's had its run. I sold most of mine last year and have no regrets. Playsets can stall in price for a long time, and you don't want to be holding this one when the next set with Jabba comes out. I'd rather buy Cantinas than hold Palaces.

  36. I was at TRU yesterday and overheard a kid asking his Dad about the Jurassic World sets. They were nowhere to be found. The Dad told him "we'll have to check Target or Walmart". Sorry to break it to you Timmy, but I hope you've been good this year because Santa is the only one that can give you a Raptor or Indominus Rex this year. Make sure those sets are at the top of your list so your Dad works very, very hard to make sure Santa is able to put it under the tree.

  37. Do you guys really think this theme is done? I think they are cranking up those machines to the till. If you were Lego and have a massive demand, would you cut it short right before Christmas season? No, you would squeeze every drop. Its business 101. If you have a great product, would you end its life?

  40. Earlier this week it was shot/vacinne day for my son at the doctors, so my wife bribed him with The First Night (21115). He is obsessed with Minecraft. He almost completely abandoned LEGO over it. Is it possible to go into the Dark Ages at age 5? If it weren't for the Minecraft sets, he probably would have already. The build was pretty fragile. More fragile than any other set I constructed. But when the finishing touches came into place on the roof perimeter, the set was pretty sturdy. I like the look and a few of the details, especially on the pig pen gate and fence. I also like the detachable roof and dark grey bricks. If you are a Minecraft fan, this is a fun set to add to the collection. This reminds me of the Hobbit Unexepected Gathering. I sold/traded all of mine before building one. I kind of regret that now

  42. thought I would add my .02 cents here: as some may already know I am not a reseller, just a collector, and recently had my LEGO Shop at Home orders being cancelled automatically. For reference I had been placing average 2-4 orders from LEGO Shop at Home per month usually single items or if it was a seasonal promo like Painting Easter Eggs or Valentines Day i would order 2 of those sets, and never more than 1 of any exclusive set and I never had any issues. Right before my problems started I placed an order for a DO and about 2 weeks later ordered another so I could make a MOC and expand it (and this was the first time I ordered more than 1 exclusive). In between I also ordered some small pieces from the pick a brick website. For the large orders I had them sent to my work so I could sign for the packages and for the pick a brick orders I had sent to my home since I knew they would fit into my mailbox. My guess is that as a result of the orders with different shipping address - although I have used those 2 addresses for the past several years - my account was flagged and all orders I tried to place after the 2nd DO are cancelled automatically. Now each time I place an order I phone as soon as I see it is cancelled and they push my order thru to "review" and then 2 days later or so it goes thru. My guess is they check my purchase history each time? The customer service people have been very helpful and friendly through the process but did alert me that my orders would likely be cancelled automatically over the next couple of months and I should keep close watch on my orders and phone in each time I see cancelled. Not sure if this info helps anyone but I guess it is worth a phone call if you could be in a similar situation as I am...

  43. I imagine Darth Raichu could explain the whole thing better than me. Far as I understand the Microfighter builds would probably fit better under the "super deformed" category rather than "Chibi" since the latter has more to do with small characters typically drawn in a cutesy artistic style than normal people sitting in shrunk down versions of larger vehicles. ....Actually the more I think about it, the "chibi" term is sort of bugging me. I'll just edit the title to simply read as "Microfighter style MOCs".
