  3. So the results are in... this set has no stickers. Do any of the Ideas sets have stickers? RI didn't but it's the only box we've ever opened. http://brickset.com/article/17018/review-21304-doctor-who

  4. Yikes! If it wasn't for the coupons, I'd never step in a TRU...

  5. These stopmotion sort of build videos and channels are becoming more prevalent which is good but also means each will have to start offering a new twist on the genre compared to the other guy.

  6. I had a good run at TRU today. I've been avoiding getting a new TRU Credit Card, but I gave in today. I got: 1 x Agents Ocean HQ (thought I would take a gamble on this, the timing seems perfect to purchase it) 1 x Hobbit Witch King Battle (an impulse purchase, the minifigures looked cool) 1 x Bricktober Hotel (these flip easy for $24ish) 1 x Bricktober Train Station (this was free w/ the $75 purchase) 3 x CMF14 (limited myself to 10 bags, smooshed out 2 x Tiger Lady and 1 x Cheerleader) My total was $106. This included 15% for opening a new card, 20% off 1 item coupon, and $5 off coupon. My total is about the retail for the Ocean HQ, so I'm feeling good about it. If I flip the two bricktober sets, that will net me about $40.

  14. Wall-E ain't no Exo suit and an Exo suit ain't no Wall-E. Get your quota. Either now or later. Then move on. Taking advantage of double VIP and TRUTH and FAO is a good idea as discounts are getting hard to come by as time moves on. Many of you know how easy it was to get discounts on Lego often, it ain't like that anymore.

  16. I'm no expert at all. Worst forecaster ever. And I say this set is going to be available in quantity and for a long time (2yrs or more). So the smart money would do the opposite of what I say, and buy up plenty ASAP. Seriously though, I understand IDEAS sets can be "limited" or short lived at times... I can consider comparisons to Back To The Future, and Ecto-1... but both of those movies are over 30 years old. BTTF is the ugliest DeLorean I've ever seen. Ecto-1 is great, but still an adult focused theme. Wall-E appeals to all ages... is such a loved, and major character... It is such a great looking model (boxy robot is the perfect theme for Lego), reasonable price point, Lego's cozy relationship with Disney right now... I just think all these add up to plenty of demand and plenty of supply for this set. This could be the Death Star of the IDEAS line... ok... maybe that's a little dramatic... but if people love it and keep buying it, why would Lego ever stop making them?

  20. $12 extra is pretty unreasonable. Just to clarify, it was an auction and not BIN? BIN - I'd split the difference with them and send them $6 just cause karma. Auction - They get nothing... many people put low shipping on auctions to make it more enticing to bid. It's the risk you take as the seller. Tough cookies. Your choice of course but I would just politely word it such that the maximum price you bid was based on the shipping cost as posted in the auction and that you would not have purchased otherwise. Apologize, be sympathetic, and simply end with "I look forward to receiving the item." Don't threaten negative feedback .. but of course leave it if the seller doesn't come through.

  24. I noticed they were multiplying as well & mentioned it a few hours ago in the "retiring soon" forum... I agree, these probably won't mean much for a couple years...I am hoping they have some sort of BF/CM sale for these like last year with Galaxy Squad...

  25. It appears Raise.com has hit a (hopefully temporary) breaking point with TRU gift cards. TRU and BRU are not even showing up in their lists of available cards now. I don't know who lost money on the FAO-disappearing-balance fiasco, but it wasn't me. All of mine that disappeared were refunded. I'm guessing that is why they are gone now. Those cards are practically non-existant on other gift card resale sites as well. As I have nearly depleted my stash of discounted gift cards, I am getting the shakes from imminent TRUTH withdrawal. (Because we all know only a fool would settle for 4 levels of discounting. )

  27. No, Amazon has instituted long term storage fees that are prohibitive and designed to prevent sellers from using their fulfillment centers as storage warehouses. You'll either need to pull the inventory out before those fees kick in or lower your price to sell them.

  28. I would go with fire sale. Long term storage fees are brutal and only getting worse .

  35. Thanks for including our parts kit! Even though we're selling the kits designed by Chris, I don't actually have a copy of Wall-E yet to see the difference. Based on your video, I can see that it definitely makes the head more posable, without restricting any movement.

  36. Since you went ahead and contacted the buyer, you'll probably want to wait 24 hours but don't wait longer than that. It'll have been 8 days after that right? Time to open an item unpaid case to get the buyers attention. You don't need to wait more than 3-5 days IMO to open an unpaid item case.

  39. Finished most of the Winter Village theme today with the Bakery and the Market sets. The design of the Market carousel is awesome and the building technique to make the horses rock is new to me. It does feel small for a $100 set but I'm happy to have it. I still need to find room for the smaller bits and pieces - I wish Lego had put those parts into making each building a little bigger and more detailed. Closer to the holidays I am going to put these down on some gray baseplates and add some white bricks but for now these are aligned in my closet.

  41. My son and I completed our bricklink'd Super Star Destroyer. Love the build, and the size is pretty impressive. If I had one gripe, it's that the mini-figs cannot stand up in the faux-bridge they included. To pose them, you have to leave the cover off. To store them in there, they all have to be either sitting or laying down. I substituted a handful of internal parts due to cost, like the yellow right-angle brackets that cost around $5 each. Total cost was under $400 spread out over a few months (to avoid the wife radar), but we still need to buy 2 of the 5 mini-figs. The exercise of finding the parts, maximizing the orders, inventorying and sorting, and then finally building, was a VERY worthwhile and fun project. Almost like an archaeological dig of sorts.

  42. They just gave me a free one not on the receipt since I did not have $75 in lego purchases because the SKU 398045 on the sealed case of Bricktobers rang up as a stroller. The friendly cashier was like that is not right when she scanned it so she typed it in and came up with the same item. The angry line began to grow so I just told her don't worry about it she can take care of me next week with another case of week 2 Bricktobers. So I walked out with 8 the case of 6 the 1 I paid for with rewards minus 10% TRUTH and a free one. I had some other Dark Side Force working so everything worked out for me. The Bricktobers are on eBay and I don't have a stroller Stackables if you are going to use a Reward and GC online put at least $1 on any CC so if you have an issue and need a refund they can easily credit the card. It is a hassle to get the reward GC combo back in my experience.
