So perhaps someone more in the know can explain this to me. I have been buying Lego set 40090 Halloween Bat & Pumpkin from TRU the past 3 TRUTH. Shelf price of $3.99 MSRP $9.99 and was thinking perhaps it was excess stock found by Lego that they are clearing out thru TRU. My TRU has been getting them in cases of 6 so I asked manager to use the hand scanner and it shows over 999 in the mid-Atlantic distribution center. So this morning I see that walmart is now selling them online for $9.99 same set number same piece count here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Halloween-Bat-Building-Set-40090/46716417 Thing is this is a Retired seasonal set according to Lego and originally was only available from them at LEGO Shop at Home or the lego store http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Halloween-Bat-40090 So since I am selling it as Retired I check the seal codes and what do I see but this: Maybe this is another test and they will do HH next year6 points

Agreed. I guess I need 2 points clarified. First, was the new production run done after the official retirement date? If not then no big deal lego could have pumped them out early for next year. Second, since these sets were originally only available directly from lego will we see PEE all over the floors of Target next Easter?4 points

In case some folks don't pay attention to the news feed on the front page (and you should because it's very good), the instructions for the new holiday promo sets have been posted by Lego. http://brickfanatics.co.uk/lego-exclusive-set-instructions-online/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Brickfanatics+(Brick+Fanatics)4 points

Big Ben would be a perfect candidate for a new landmark Creator set IMO. Also, as stated above, a very creative LEGO engineer could add a working clock to it, making it a spectacular set. When I think of the U.K., I think of Big Ben. It's as iconic as they come. I would love to see an Empire State Building with an LED lit pinnacle.2 points

Not iconic? Big Ben? It's the most recognized clock towers in the world. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iAgX6qlJEMc2 points

The Acropolis would be pretty amazing, but tons of white'ish bricks.2 points

I know this is off topic but Big Ben with power function clock tower that keeps semi-accurate time, now that would be epic!!2 points

Seems primed for that. If not BF then the week or two after that.2 points

My TRU hasn't received any, or they'll hold them in the back until Easter. The entire staff at my TRU won't go in the back and look for anything. Standard answer, "Everything we have is on the floor." This is from the managers too. Even when I see stuff disappear from the floor, I ask if it's in the back, and then it reappears 3 weeks later. I'm kind of like my 3-year old. Keep asking the same question and hoping for a different answer eventually.2 points

75827 will be based on the original movie. I also suspect there will be a wave of sets for the new GB movie and that would include the new Ecto-1 with the girl minifigs. 75827 is going to be epic and fans of the original movie are at the age where they are making top dollar so will spend top dollar - good news for us. We should get more details and pics soon unless they flip flop the Big Ben landmark July release with the Jan 1st GBHQ. Slimer and slimed Venkman confirmed for 75827!2 points

With all respect, but 130 euro's is not a great price for this set. You can buy them from me if you like, I sell them for 125 euro's. Bought a bunch of 75105 for 107 euro today, some imperial assault carriers for 85 and a bunch of 10240 X-wing for 153 euro. All at Galeria Kaufhof, thank you Germany! Who is saying that Germany has crap Lego deals has not a close look at some deals there. Today those SW deals were amazing at Galeria Kaufhof, you could also pick up a UCS Slave 1 for 145 euro, but unfortunately I missed those. Happy weekend und vielen dank Deutschland!2 points

Vielen Dank!

The old Ghostbusters is hard to beat. You have some of the all time comic geniuses in that movie. While the new one probably could never equal the old in quality, it might do so in dollars.2 points

First modular MOC attempt began as ice cream shop but ran out of pink bricks so started working on other floors with blue. now i'm out of blue and waiting for more blue to arrive and will finish off the ice cream palace with another pink floor my daughter has promised i turn into a nail salon in exchange for eminent domain consuming her boxed up city park cafe I just can't deal with a pink ground floor and everything else blue. waiting for more Grilles to make a blue base.2 points

I'm often saying we rarely have good deals ^.^ But today was one of the good days! :-) (And compared to U.S. deals I'll continue to say it :-P). These have been the best deals I've seen on LEGO products in a long time! I know that Galleria Kaufhof has got these deals every now and then but most of the really good deals don't last long (Slave I for example). Got myself two sets for my own collection and didn't pay more/much more for the other sets that I got myself recently so I'm a happy man today :-) (Only wish I had more money... would have liked to buy 2 more sets for my personal collection ;-) ).1 point

Nice one exited. Maybe you're right. Either way I cannot get them. No such thing as a Lego store in my state. Hope they work out for everyone.1 point

Right now there is a discount (YES I'M happy to see one finally!!! :-) ) at Galeria Kaufhof. Maybe because of that.1 point

Here's one of those wacky "had to be there" things. I am at Target, picking up online orders for Non-LEGO related stuff - and a guy walks out of the back with a slightly beaten up but sealed Atlantis 8061 - Gateway of the Squid set. Someone else had left it for him to do something with. I told him I'd take it if it was cheap enough, he scanned it and it came up $14. Sold. How often do people stumble on 5 year old sets at these stores?! Crazy.1 point

The logical endgame would be a Pick-A-Set wall. Not just for Star Wars, but also Winter Village, modulars, etc. As small-batch manufacturing gets cheaper, I could imagine Lego doing that. So we could have all sets (excepting those that failed to attract buyers) available all the time. This would be an online-only deal, obviously, due to retail shelf space limitations. Ultimately, we are very, very expendable. There used to be a big market in 'services' that offered lump-sum payments to lottery winners who won $10K per month for life and similar prizes. Then the states got to thinking, 'hey, we could cut out the middleman and screw lottery winners ourselves' and they absolutely annihilated that particular economic niche. All we do is try to fill in for Lego when it underproduces a set. Lego can eliminate 90% of reseller profits just by running its operations more efficiently and better predicting consumer demand for particular products.1 point

You were right but I guess you figured that out.1 point

Ha. To be fair though, the stores I go to only look like that after a truck has shown up. The one I was at last night looked like that, but not any of the prior times I was there, and it won't look like that after I'm done with it in 2 hours. I have only seen RE once this entire time. A Lego store employee told me she'd heard they were at a Walmart, so I went, saw 5, got one for my son's birthday, and have been kicking myself ever since that I didn't get the rest. If the above pic grinds your gears, how about the fact that I can sell these in the US at cost and still get a 25% return off the currency.1 point

Like a UCS Falcon or ISD? What with the 3000 piece technic car, it seems the trend is moving towards very big sets - just what some of us have been waiting for.1 point

In my opinion it´s a bit too soon to buy in for long term investment and certainly not at more than 30% off - before Xmas there will be better deals and this set should be around for at least two years, if not more. Even a quick flip at Xmas is not likely to be worth more than 170 and then after commissions you are back to where you started.....1 point
