  1. So I've been buying used lots with sets my wife and I want, building everything, and then selling the rest to recoup some cash, coming out ahead, at the very least, factoring what we would've spent on what we kept. Perhaps when I've been watching you guys play the game long enough and have the capital I'll jump in. But for the time being I just wanted to share this: I bought a lot with a very apparent non-original-3 retired modular in it for the price of a used copy of the modular. Based on the description I was given, it sounded like there may be another in the lot, along with some other smaller sets. Received it today. Sure enough, had a couple "modern era" retired modulars, a couple more sets went for $100ish retail and oh what's a Darth Vader doing in here? What sets does this one appear in? I looked at the pieces spread out across the table and realized I also received a Super Star Destroyer!! Needless to say I was elated and have since been threatening the wife that I'm going to hover it over our modular city hahah TBD on keep, hold, sell. : D
  2. Picked up a bunch of discounted double decker couch from Smyths and was given these. Clearly I have no clue on availability, or if all of the figs have posters. But…
  3. and people said that keeping track of seal codes was pointless....

Honestly I think there is a very real possibility that new boxes have nothing to do with what is retiring and what they will produce more of in the future. The new boxes are for the Creator line only as far as I can tell. So TLG has a new Creator logo design and they want uniformity in their Creator sets; the sets they just released and the sets they are about to retire. Not a big deal. I don't think TLG is saying to itself: "we have to produce x thousand more of x sets (Tower Bridge, Palace Cinema, T1, etc) because we just changed our logo!" I think they will go EOL at the exact same times as they otherwise would have.
  5. Lots of Vampyre Castles via FBA for $170, 12 Raptor Escapes for $80, City Train Station 7937 $95, Lots of Friends: Newborn Foal for $27, Stephanie's Bakeries for $16, and Lone Ranger: Constitution Chase for $137.
  6. I take anything he says with a grain of salt.
  7. buuuuttt they got Dinosaurs!!!
  8. Even the sun shines on a dog's butt some days....picked up a Very Good Town Hall out of the Warehouse for $236. Not sure how they calculated their price for this, I think it may have been an FBA item from the stickers on it, but it made it an easy decision to buy. The box was rough, but I was only hoping for sealed bags. They were all included and sealed.
  9. He'll get his Wall-E 25% off in 2020 when they are retired and worth $300

All of my Raptor Escapes arrived from S@H today with 20R5 seal codes.
  11. 60061 - Airport Fire Truck is now marked down to $14.98 at TRU B&M. Grabbed 2 w/ TRUTH and 13% off gift card for about $12 each.
  12. But if the movie is a big success, on the 17th we europeans will clean out your ebay and amazon shops of star wars sets. Even before you have the chance to do your price increases.
  13. Plastic is not the primary cost of producing a set.
  14. Sold a 6866 chopper for 134 euros! Also a lord buisness lair for 85....... bought the chopper for 16 euros and the lair for 35........nice return.....
  15. That's for the next box redesign.
  16. If I wait long enough, someone always posts what I wanted to say but more eloquently. Thanks for that. At some point older sets--while still selling--just don't bring the volume of sales that something new would. Consumer fatigue, investor fatigue... it's like saying "The Sorcerer's Stone was a great book and sold well, so why did JK Rowling write six more?" Because consumers--especially fans--expect something new. A new book to read, a new set to build... books and Lego sets are different, sure, but the analogy is there Of course, we still have that DS to deal with... The one with Groot arm-wrestling an Ent? I'd pay for that.
  17. Watch for the new Box Design.
  18. Stock is up to 129 again. No new box so far.
  19. Taj Envy I like them fun quick builds and the head pieces are nice. I am going to pick up Jango tomorrow at TRUTH Note: The football is not for size comparison Tom Brady was playing with it so it is deflated.
  20. Finally got myself a Queen Anne's Revenge to build (used) for $140-ish (shipped) after eBay Bucks and Target/eBay gift cards. Looking forward to the build...not sure if it goes in line before or after the Black Pearl...or the T1...or the...
  21. I just scored this for $50 plus $5 shipping on eBay it's opened but in immaculate shape so it's perfect for me since I wanna display the actual set
  22. lol I forgot you live in place where 2012 sets can be found in abundance
  23. Hmm, must be all them Bronies behind this.
  24. Minifigures plus is as legit as they come. I got a mr gold in the series 10 case I ordered from them. So all questions of tampering or not being honest or whatever were thrown out the window on that one. Minifigures plus is a great seller.
  25. I finished a 75054 AT-AT yesterday. I've wanted an AT-AT since I was a kid ogling the Sears Christmas catalog. I watched other Lego iterations come and go, but this fulfilled a life-long quest for me. Now it's going to accompany me to my office, sit on a filing cabinet, and get hijacked by pirate zombies.
  26. Low risk , good margins and people will buy these continuously as they can't just buy 1 off of SAH for $10, they would spend 18ish with tax and shipping. So there is always value in them from the get go. Any leftovers you save for the following season and make combos. A lot of people aren't like us that buy $75 to get free shipping and promos. They just want that one small set to put on display for the holiday. I try to get at least 200 of each seasonal set. Sometimes not all up front but on the back end at clearance as well for the following year. Bats at $5 were a great investment last year and are already pulling $15 again. Combo up with the new one for $35 on a $15 investment. Takes a little pre-planning as well to make the combos work.
  27. Class is in session . Pay attention now :
  28. Just got back from Target and a lot of smooshing. 16 packs later landed, finally, a witch, scientist, 2 wraiths, 7 banshees, a vampress, and 4 dominatrix. A pretty successful haul...............
  29. Free up enough space and you could use a 1:1 Volvo L350F to move around the boxes!
  30. if LEGO holds true to there check back in Jan., but then again there messages are not the most reliable source.
  31. Received 3 today from LEGO Shop at Home and all are 20r5
  32. That's awesome, who would've guessed the Executor could go into stealth mode...
  33. I bought Birds from AWD and whoever returned it had started building the bluejay. The other two birds were still in sealed bags. But half of the bluejay parts were missing. I think it might have originally been missing a bag because the stand was built right up to the point where the a missing piece prevented you from continuing with the build. Since I had bought it to build anyway, I just contacted LEGO and they shipped out the missing parts. But this is a case where Amazon should not have sold it through AWD. I always wonder how thorough their inspection is to confirm if a set is complete.
  34. Great technique, gives an excellent effect.
  35. Sold out LEGO Shop at Home (Europe/Australia)
  36. I've seen the T1 in the new box in a shop in Germany yesterday and have to admit that my first thought was "Good that I haven't bought any of them yet."
  37. Sold my last NISB R2D2 for $365 shipped. Made a 50% profit after fees & shipping on that one. In total, I made a profit of $342 with my four NISB R2D2's, which I all sold this year, after acquiring them at retail last year. This was a good set to buy and resell within a year just like GE and AA. Sitting on sets for more than a year makes me very unconfortable unless I have no choice with slow growers like EEE and HE for example. Oh well, goodbye R2D2 and hello to newer sets with the goal to make a decent gain in 2016.
  38. It's all relative and I do mix it up a little. One method may be a little more conservative than the other, but you can win either way.
  39. I got a misb kylo Ren's command shuttle for $90 with free shipping on ebay
  40. I guess you could track how fast particular sets are selling and try to figure out demand and interest. Having said that, I would try no to get too caught up with them. They could easily re-stock.
  41. Wait for them to disappear and watch the prices head back up north. What did you think was going to happen when they became available everywhere? As others said, I just saw them in Target for the first time today, smooshed about 20 I wanted between a few stores. I think I finished my personal set and got some extras, but will keep looking until they run out, this is an amazing series.
  42. Just got the Lego Club mag in the mailbox today. I like the "throwback shout out" to the old Haunted House.
  43. I finally completed my set the other day at a local Target. Somehow I missed picking the Werewolf and Gargoyle the first time around. Now I'll be picking up a little here and there as I come across them in stores as door prizes for my daughters Halloween party.
  44. Just managed to get a full box of the simpsons cmf for £60 in sainsburys. I love the looks you get at the tills.
  45. Based on a real life Odeon Theater and LEGO's own in the Town Plan set (from 2008), this expired Ideas submission has a nice art deco styling. Odeon Theater
