Sold a 21303 Wall-E for $91 + shipping on ebay. After fees, etc, made about $29 profit =~ 57% (+ TRU rewards). I was gonna put this story in "what did you buy today", but I sold it too quick... 2 days ago, I was at my TRU where I met a fellow BP'er (I think). He looked like me... walking back-and-forth in the Lego aisle... looking at his phone... so I said something like , "Hey! You look like a Lego collector / investor." He confirmed. I said, "Do you follow Brickpicker?" ... he said 'yes'. I said, "Me too! I'm Ken-triple-x !" And he told me his name... but I didn't quite hear it correctly. Sure I could've asked again, but I felt maybe I was already giving off a bit of a 'weirdo' vibe.... introducing myself that way... is this guy even really a Brickpicker? ... or is he just humoring me before he calls for store security? So anyway, I let it go... then I saw what he had in his hands... "They've got Wall-E here?!" He said yes, this was the last one, but he wasn't too sure about keeping it... looking at his phone some more... he then offered it to me. But I said, "Nah... I think I'll wait on this one... not sure that I really need to buy that right now." So he put it back on the shelf and walked out. I stood there and thought about it for another minute... decided to pick it up with my 20% off coupon (out the door $51). Wasn't sure it'd be a good flip right now, but thought we might build it at home. As I was going through checkout, I saw the mystery Brickpicker going back to the Lego section again (maybe he, too, changed his mind)? Anyway, I got home, and saw prices on ebay and... "flip, flip, flipadelphia!" So ... thank you mystery Brickpicker... I owe you one.7 points

Built the Temple of Airjitzu today: from the pictures I was concerned there were too many colors and it would look over the top but I am happy to say in person the color choices make sense. The build was no too complex and I wished the Smuggler's Market section was a little more complex brick wise but the rest of the set was fun and I really enjoyed building the main temple section. This was my first ever Ninjago purchase so I am happy about the selection of figures and think they look cool positioned running on the rooftops etc. If I had to give an overall grade it would be B+3 points

Guys quick, Entertainer are doing their penny sale thing again and you can click and collect Benny's spaceship, if they have them in your area, you can get two Benny's for £80 total. Be quick though it's up on UKdeals. They have about 15 Lego set's available but Benny's is really the only one worth getting in my opinion, and this is probably your last chance to get them at a very good price. Go go go Link http://www.thetoyshop.com/c/penny-sale2 points

Goodwill is a charity, but, at what point do you draw the line? If I had received an equal value lamp, should I just try to sell that to recoup my money? The auction site does allow for returns if the item is SNAD. Which is what this came down to. Yes, I could have accepted a refund down from $225 to $111 (the difference in the two auctions), and then made an attempt to recover my costs. But what if I wasn't it in for the resell opportunities? Then I'd be stuck with a whole lot of stuff I didn't want. I'm not asking for anything outside of their rules for playing on the auction site. I'm just asking them to play by the same rules that they agree to play by.2 points

seems weird to me as well, especially employees doing it but seems to be the norm at all stores. My daughter actually gets upset and never wants to know. Likes the surprise element of it I suppose. If she gets doubles just uses them in some other set up she has. On buying note 15 TOT (might as well make the acronym now) SC Damaged 1000pts 2 ToO2 points

Wow... I can't stand there and smoosh in a Lego store. Target or TRU, sure... off on your own in the toy aisles... but in a Lego store? Out in the open, where it couldn't be more obvious that you are trying to take the 'prize' goods, and leave the common stuff for the rest of the customers? That takes attitude that I don't have.2 points

Apparently, according to a contact inside tru, the hike is not directly related to the dollar rate (their stock was secured over a year+ ago) it's due to the difficulty shipping the particular item (due to it's size & weight), she also hinted that they know that item is not being sold to end users as it's being ordered in multiples. either they are catching on & taking advantage of those who'd take advantage of them for holding stock or are just trying another random scummy tactic on for size.2 points

Had some blue and red from 31026-1 bike shop and don't think I'll sell it so I decided moccing it. The color corresponds well with the blue from the DO. The interior hasn't been done yet. Level floor will be bike shop. First and second floor a small studio with seperate bathroom. The entrance to the appartments is via the back. Still need to build a stairs but this will be combined with another MOC building I build with the rest of the 31026-1 pieces. Also need to print some custom stickers for the windows of the shop and the plaque above the door.2 points

I've been doing the Goodwill thing for two years now, so definitively aware of this risk. I do believe he is cherry picking the lot right now. I appreciate the feedback from everyone. I'm going to just ask for a refund from them and send back this lot. Time to move along.2 points

It's bizarre that places put it on the shelf, but won't sell it. Just keep it in back for heavens sake. That's really annoying.1 point

A great day at TRUTH! Was able to snag two Wall-E's early for an average price of $49.35 using a $10 reward, 20% off one regularly priced item, and TRUTH 10% off. I'll probably sell one and build the other. Then, I found 3 Galaxy Squad Galaxy Vaporizers (506 piece set) for $18.27 a piece. That was too good a price to leave them on the shelf. Maybe now I have a good starting point for a Shiptember build on the cheap!1 point

expensive on price per piece basis relative to other lego sets, but still very cheap compared to other adult hobbies like realistic toy trains, swiss watches, art pieces etc. Even tickets to many sports games are more expensive than lego architecture sets.1 point

I'm hearing conflicting info on that polybag. It's either a giveaway on Force Friday at TRU or it will be available in November at TRU. I've also heard that the Stormtrooper Sgt will be the polybag that will be available in November at TRU.1 point

I wanted to provide a quick update to everyone: I sent a note off to Goodwill on Sunday evening, asking for a full refund of all costs, including fees and shipping costs, due to the error. Since I didn't receive what I paid for, there was no way for me to guarantee that they could recover 100% of what I paid for, and I wasn't interested in keeping the lot that I did receive, I felt it was the best thing to do. Silence on Monday. Tuesday morning, I received a note back saying that as soon as they received the Lego, I would get the refund. I promptly wrote back that I would send it back as soon as they sent me a mailing label. That finally arrived today. I'm shipping it out momentarily. We'll see if they actually give me my full funds back. I have this nagging suspicion that they are going to wait until I say something to refund every penny. I'm pretty sure they expected me to pay to ship it back until I said something. Sorry, but you're mistake, you pay for it. And good luck getting the other $100 out of the other guy, who most likely is keeping the lot that I won (or, is picking out Market Street we speak, and sending back some dummy blocks to make up for it, if at all).1 point

Congrats to the brothers yet again! This article makes it seem so easy. There is no talk about selling fees, storage, the process of selling, packing or themes that don't appreciate well, etc. According to the article there is no downside to Lego investing, except maybe that it is a fad, which I don't think is true based on the last fifty years. You don't have to store stocks in your attic or pack them in boxes when you want to sell them. I want to make it clear that I am NOT saying Ed is responsible in anyway for this one sided approach. There is money to be made, but it is not as easy as they make it sound.1 point
