  1. Built this today. By far the most challenging set I have ever built. Many times I worried I made a mistake, particularly the rubber hoses every where! Massive impressive set though!
  2. 6x raptor escapes at my cost+shipping... + a favour down the road to a fellow BPer Edit: On brick classifieds too
  3. With moving and a being in the busiest part of a seasonal occupation I haven't been able to build much lately, so with a couple hours of down time I figured I better pick a good set, I think I chose quite well.
  4. where's the (4) thumbs up button when you need it.
  5. This goes beyond the investors - I am also concerned about my customers being left to feel like stupid idiots who just got screwed (seemingly by me). Yes, we make money, and yes, the prices can get ridiculous - but at least (until now) we could honestly state to a buyer of high prices sets, that even though they are expensive, if the set continues to be taken care of (and loved), the price will likely continue to increase. Once the high priced collectors start associating their purchases with the negative feeling of getting screwed - many will likely stop.
  6. Orc Forge is starting to get some love on Amazon, sold one so far for $95. Sold 2 more 75021 - Republic Gunships on EBay for $190 to a repeat buyer in my shipping zone. It only cost me $10 to ship them insured.
  7. Saw this set linked in the comments about the new WV Toy shop over at Brickset. See what you think. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/107984
  8. Made some improvements on my Green Grocer with the help of brick builders pro.
  9. $95 for Creative Tower 10664 on eBay
  10. I wouldn't use the BrickPicker prices to set prices on EBay or any other marketplace. It's a good gauge for value of a BrickFolio as of the previous reporting period, but it's not an accurate reflection of the current market. Use the "recently sold" filter on EBay and also browse Amazon, Bricklink, etc. to get a read on what prices other sellers have their items listed at.
  11. Some people love to hate on City but if you pay attention there are some winners...
  12. Amazon 60059 - City: Logging Truck - $63 (is there an end in sight?) 7913 - Clone Trooper Battle Pack - $45
  13. Which will then become a $25 box instead of a $10 polybag.
  14. I've been on a minifigures kick for investment purposes lately. Grabbed 2 complete sets of series 13, 1 set of simpsons series 2, and 2 sets of monsters series 14.
  15. heh yup GG re-release proto...
  16. Turns out most of my listings are priced at what they've been selling for recently so that's good to know just gotta be patient I guess
  17. The lazy approach would be to just follow Exciter's lead. ;-)

My mantle isn't wide enough. Maybe glued to the ceiling upside down. It would certainly be a conversation-starter.
  19. and although i was "+ve" that this set would do well but have Never thought that it would reach these prices so soon. i thought they would hit $80+ only around holiday season of 2016. not holiday season of 2015 { man have i been so wrong }..... btw, galerco still has over 300+ remaining. wow! am i speechless or what...(more than 700 sold) in measly few months.
  20. It was however on sale for the 27 or 28 at wm.com for a long time. Then on sale in store at lego b&m for 27.98. Didnt last to long though. Maybe a week
  21. Space Needle too! Volkswagen T1 #1 on my list.
  22. Sold a Charlotte Grand Opening minifigure set for $85 (inc ship), but was troubled that it was going to Denmark. I guess I irrationally (?) think that country is full of QFLL spies.
  23. This is much better than the Halloween set and will be a great one to part out, whether for personal use or sale. Those turkeys are expensive.
  24. Some people think the Volvo loader will retire early but Technic sets are almost always out for two years (plus or minus last stock). Based on that, MKII should go this year (anytime) and the loader next summer... MKII may very well break that trend but the loader is licensed so Lego will be constrained by the license!
  25. Architecture wait times can be tough to stomach - White House and Brandenburg Gate need to be culled...
  26. Maybe some people bitch and moan no matter what. Lego doesn't give two bits if a few buyers are pissed about the reissue. Not a single one of them won't keep buying Lego to resell or collect because of 10249. You can bet they're looking at how many 10199 sets were produced and sold vs winter cottages and WVM and SW. It has to be about the money.
  27. The new Arocs Technic truck (42043) should excite a lot of people. With the new pneumatic II pieces that are out, the set will one day bring in a nice price on the secondary market. However, I love it for other reasons. Just finished building it....and it was a blast. Also, I remember years ago when the Mercedes Benz Unimog came out and Artifex Creations put out a lighting kit specifically designed for the truck which was pretty cool. Their site is down for maintenance, and I am not sure if they are in the Lego lighting business anymore, but I thought of doing the same thing with the Arocs. I used the products are lifelights.com. Pretty happy with the results. A brief tutorial and more pictures can be found at: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/418368
  28. That's awesome that the Gunship is nearing 200...
  29. The ideas for product is endless....they don't need to do remakes.

How perfect... Today is National Waffle Day !
  32. There was tons of anger a few days back when folks first saw the new set. Some of the ambivalence you're encountering is just because folks have already reached that stage of grieving. 1) Denial - We saw the title of the set back in January. Nah, they won't do a straight re-hash. They'd never do that. 2) Anger - We saw the product. Lego Nerds gone wild. WTF?!?!?!? Are they serious???? HOW can they do this to MEEE???? 3) Bargaining - We sold all our sets at 50% discounts from their 'collectible value' in a race to the bottom 4) Depression - I better sell my whole portfolio. This investing thing is over. 5) Acceptance - Hey you know what? If the US stock market can drop 1000 points in 10 minutes,,,,,i'm probably still fine with my lego-vestments.They won't do this with ALL my sets............right? 6) Rinse & Repeat - If they do this again just revisit step 1.
  33. sold a used Queen Anne's Revenge. Found it on CL a few weeks back for $165 and sold it for $255. Bonus that I got to do a fun build with my boys before selling.
  34. This set might top my list of 2015 regrets.
  35. Damn Dang... I bought 1 logging truck for myself, but it's sitting in a box unopened. Maybe it's time to sell.

No need to wait for zombies. Just watch one of those Thanksgiving night Wal-Mart openings where the crowd literally fights its way into the store for a chance at cheapo generic televisions from China.
  37. Wow, I just checked where your location was and I'm baffled!
  38. This is becoming like a souvenir that everybody has on their fireplace marble.
  39. Nice! 75021s are definitely rising. I sold one earlier this month on eBay for $170, and the box was about a 5/10. Only paid $90 for it at Walmart.
  40. Just because Lego re-issues the Toy Shop does not mean that they will do it with the others. The Toy Shop will be a big hit with new buyers who were not into Lego six years ago. It's funny when Lego tries to do something different like release the Winter Village Market everybody rips it apart for being not as good as the others. But when the re-issue arguably the most desirable set of the line everyone complains. They really can't win can they? Resellers are whiners.
  41. Well... I guess you are home alone and your real name is Kevin?

Think this is ground hog day Seems like all of this was discussed a week ago lol wait maybe i should post this in the ecto thread
  43. This did not make it to Halloween...Many thought it would...
  44. Ditto. At least most of it (I never had that shot at 10179). Our school librarian shared a simple rule about the "age" of the collection a few years ago. Books--even library books--shouldn't stay on the shelf forever. It's the same with retired Lego sets in my garage. They are worth nothing until converted to cash. It's the same with Beanie Babies or baseball cards or comic books, pork bellies, stocks... If someone is going to wait to buy a "new" UCS R2 because "just maybe there'll be a new release," he/she wasn't going to pay a premium in the first place. I'm all in. Lego isn't going anywhere and one re-release doesn't change the whole game.
