Interesting day today. Started out at shopko and picked up 4 friends light house sets for $20.31 each after tax by using the clearance price, additional 10% off clearance sale, and $10 off $50 coupon. This set is unique, unlike all of the cafes and pet themed sets from this line, which is why I bought them. Part of me said "what little girl is going to want to play with a light house?" but at over 50% off I couldn't pass. If nothing else I'll pair them with a dolphin cruiser and sell as a combo. Then I scored a local Craig's deal. All new and sealed 4867 Hogwarts, a 4738 hagrid's hut, a 4714 gringotts bank, and a 3222 helicopter and limousine for $200. Should easily double if not a little more on these. Also picked up a few more mystery machines at retail. It was a good day.3 points

Whew! Something else to distract folks while the Slave 1 is still ripe for the pickin'.3 points

Just enough time for me to move the rest of my 250+, then reload if they do indeed come back3 points

It is typical of the investment game... zero patience. Not everything sky rockets like Town Hall and Haunted House. The UCS Imperial Shuttle didn't do a hell of a lot for awhile and now is taking off. My AAs are put aside and being forgotten about as I move on to the next thing.3 points

Sold a new/sealed 7939 cargo train for $200 cash. Local Craig's deal. Buy in was $125.2 points

Saw TB with new box (with new Creator Expert logo) today at the LEGO store. Guess it's not done...2 points

Just back from the San Antonio LEGO store all Scooby Doo sets gone with the exception of about 5-7 Mystery Mansion sets. This is despite the fact that they have this built as one of their feature sets. In my opinion, this is the only set in the line where I feel like I'm getting some value for my money. It looks magnificent on display. I almost impulse purchased one but I don't have any room in my luggage.2 points

I don't know how much this will end up helping the set to appreciate, but I do think this set fits in nicely with Jokerland. This set could easily be another "attraction" in that theme park. While I haven't seen the two sets built next to each other, I'm guessing the scales of these two sets are equivalent.2 points

I sold another today. That's 4 in the past couple of weeks when I couldn't sell one for months. €97 plus shipping.2 points

Just set the box on fire and have the kids blow it out. They had piles of them at Legoland, so I'm sure he partook.2 points

I have no clue about its retirement. But finding out if it's selling well is not rocket science (any more). These sales numbers (of a Batman set in EU) with a limit of one compared to other 100+ $/€ sets - what further evidence does anyone need?2 points

Does anyone else feel like this thing has been retiring since it was released...?2 points

Now this set is doing very well. Happy I bought them as many as I could at 40% below RRP.2 points

Wouldnt it seem a bit off to have the tumbler on the shelves featuring bale and ledger as figures when the movie running then is completely different regarding the vehicle as well as the characters? The tumbler is no generic-licensed Batman set, but dedicated to the TDK trilogy. Draw your own conclusions from that.2 points

Do you think Lego would spend millions on License Fees, plus millions for the molds to make these sets just to have them out for a few months. They have struck gold with this series so don't be surprised if the sets go into 2016.2 points

my regular walmart haunt restocked all JW sets except for RE and Trex. i thought my TRU had stopped stocking JW lego until i accidentally strolled by the JW section no where near the lego section but in the merchandise section for the JW action figures and other JW merchandise. they were all there. long term this theme is a winner. for now i'm only hoarding the 2 raptor sets (RR+RE) which were the hardest to find near me and also the cheapest to ship. might make a nice $180-200 combo this xmas. still i'm thinking these raptor sets if they aren't back will just keep going up to stupid money land. and i want to still have RE double digits when we get to stupid money land. i'm hoarding cash for the inevitable transient appearance of the elusive Santa's workshop.2 points

I picked mine up in December 2013 for $10 each. It's a great little set.2 points

I have no idea where this would go, so feel free to move (or remove). From another site... Quote Seasonal set news! Holiday vignettes (like the Valentine's and Easter sets) Halloween: Kid trick or treating, dressed as a witch, there's a stoop and a front door with a skeleton answering it. Thanksgiving: Restaurant scene - chef wheeling out a full turkey on a cart, pie underneath it, there's a table with a woman sitting at it ready to be served. Christmas 1: Kids building a snowman outside a snowy front porch Christmas 2: "Santa's Visit" fireplace, tree, presents 2015 Holiday Promo sets First is a train, looks like a Christmas version of the Emerald Express. Second is a gingerbread house. Apparently looks amazing.2 points

A rumor over at Eurobricks has surfaced regarding a special limited edition series of Collectable Minifigures dedicated to the German soccer (football) team in the same manner the Team GB back at the Olympics in 2012 series was done. Source1 point

Can they catch up? Sure they can. They can do anything they want. They could flood the distribution chain with this line if they wanted to. But where it gets interesting is, what would they have to put on the back burner to do this. They don't have unlimited production capacity. Are they at full capacity now? I don't pretend to know, and I don't know how anyone outside of the company would. Having the molds is one thing, having the hours in the day to run those molds is another.1 point

I don' think this set is going anywhere. I don't think Lego would spend so much time and money to create a huge exclusive set to only last 18 months, and I doubt that they miscalculated their production costs.1 point

I saw the promo in the store and it's on the U.S. Promo calendar for August to go along with the Classic Pirates set that being given out. Brick Bounty is also currently double VIP in the U.S.1 point

Log in and go to your vip account then look at promotions. Detective Office is also being promoted, surprisingy.1 point

Lego is running double VIP points on this set hence the short term run on it. It'll be restocked.1 point

I can certainly believe that RE will drop off early, and may already be done. Its a walmart exclusive, and LEGO has likely fulfilled their initial contract, and I suspect walmart is not likely to pay a premium to have them pump out more. I do not think however that the entire line is done. The real question is can LEGO catch up before christmas.1 point

Just sold 2 more same buyer on eBay GSP at $115 each so I would say it has broken the $100 barrier. That makes 6 sold above $100 in the week since the movie has come out.1 point

Isn't this the same Brick Blogger that has called for the retirement of the Death Star a couple times before this year? And the quote says retired from LEGO brand retail stores. I could see it being phased out from retail stores due to lack of shelf space but still made available on the Shop at Home website, Amazon, Target, TRU, etc.1 point

Everything can happen. Lego is currently the nr. 1 toymaker in the world. If they want to keep that place they need to innovate and keep renewing themselves. So if a new movie with a new batmobile is coming out they need to be part of it. Cause they need to stay interesting for current legofans and attract new legofans in able to grow. Cause competition won't be standing still as well. Also I think maybe this is not selling as good as we might think. Alot of my friends who are not investors like it alot! But no one owns one. Cause of the higher pricepoint and they think they still have plenty of time. Yes, normally you would expect this to be around for at least two years. But lately Lego seems to be stepping away from logical retirement dates. So if you do not have a Tumbler yet. And you like it. Buy it a.s.a.p. Just to be sure not to miss the boat. If it retires early this will be a homerun.1 point

A lot of nice pictures generally going over how The Forbidden Keep was assembled. An interesting browse for an intriguing build to say the least. The Forbidden Castle WIP Guide1 point

The new speculation that we could be getting a candy store or sweet shop for the winter village installment this year would dovetail with the gingerbread house. With all this information being reported, I'm guessing we'll see pictures soon.1 point

The Dilophosaurus is the only other new mold breed I believe. The Pteranodon, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Velociraptors are all the same (except different printing) as the prior Dino line.1 point

Between all the creature characters represented throughout the Collectable Minifigures line (including this series), the Studios theme from years ago, Monster Fighters, and now Scooby-Doo, it is quite impressing the sheer amount how many times each monster of the macabre has been done and can still somehow bring a new element to the table maintaining some unique individuality. As an example, place each Mummy minifigure released across the years beside one another. Despite sharing the same core concept (dead skin, tattered wrapping, etcetera), they have their own styling. Some may say "They're just mummies." but for me the little details set them apart and makes each collectable in its own right. Like Grolim's personal collection of zombie minifigures, I would love to see the vast collection of every movie monster minifigure on display. That would be most impressive well as make one heck of a trick-or-treaters scene for Halloween.1 point

The thing is there will always be investors buying from investors. You have people happy to offload due to reaching their targeted ROI, whilst having others hoping to capitalise on possible future profits. Example being the Haunted House. I know people who scored them for the $120 price from K-Mart and have offloaded them recently for $500. That was what they wanted out of it and moved onto the next thing. I know people buying them for $500 expecting them to hit $1000. So it all depends on your strategy. You will always find people though buying from investors solely to reinvest in this hobby. People getting out of the market a few years ago selling Market Steet new for $500 could possibly be kicking themselves but which one of us would say you wouldn't buy it now for $500 without a second thought? It is why people are buying up Haunted Houses. Bss tends to lean itself towards end users. Your more sought after items like modulars tend to move fast and can be score by investors or end users, whereas some of the other stuff is pretty much useless to investors. Again though it all comes down to the mindset of the investor. I have seen one person buying up every high end collectible minifig on the site and now selling them via PM without announcing her costs. I have seen one guy try and accumulate every SSD (used or new) that shows up.1 point
