I would never tell anyone what is good or not good to do with disposable income. I would however, strongly urge you not to waste your money on Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is what I'm saving my Lego money for...

Some folks just cut out the clear portion of the main sticker before applying it. I would recommend going that route if you have multiple copies.

A few weeks ago I posted the absolute genius behind TLG's plan to retire TH out of order. Looks like this is phase 2 of the plan. Create Claim a QC issue with a part shared by multiple older, investor-watched sets and move 1000s of units in a week. Have a plan. Stick to it. Profit.

I've never had issues using my rewards with a coupon and getting the discount on the full amount. You'll always lose the value for the 10% off on Thursdays since that is always applied last, but I personally can live with that. In the case below, I was happy enough to use my $60 rewards even though I lost $6 in value. and with the upcoming changes, we're only going to be able to use $20 at a time on online purchases, or $80 in store. Just left 2 RE's at Waterloo, NY WM they are at the customer service desk. I bought 4 already that's all the budget could handle for now. Also 7 or 8 Cantina's for $49 in the clearance section at the front of the store along with a BUNCH of other sets to match the current WM clearances.

Miracle happened tonight. On my way home from dinner tonight decided to swing by a Walmart to see what clearance they got. First round walking through isles, nothing interesting. Went back for a second stroll to make sure I didn't miss anything and what caught my eyes.... yes 3 RE!! Hiding at the bottom of the shelves alone with no other JW sets insight. And yes, I bought all 3 ...seal codes 22R5 (Last week of May); most likely not a fresh wave from Lego

This is an amazing one to watch. I was late to game after re-discovering Lego and I love this ship...back in January I paid $575 (w/shipping) for a personal set and waited two months for sea freight to deliver it from across the world. I haven't opened it yet, but I will...I'm going to need a stiff drink to do it, though, especially if it keeps soaring. Still, I just don't think I could part with this crown jewel of my budding Lego Star Wars collection.

Built the Shuttle Tydirium last week, and it's now my new favorite non-exclusive Star Wars kit. All it needed was a stand, so I bricklinked the parts I needed so the stand is as new and shiny as the rest of it. Beautiful kit for those of you (like me) who do not have the UCS version.

And that's the key. As long as you follow an strategy with the sets you like (say, I'll buy 5 TOO by the time it reaches 2 years on the shelves or whatever), retirement talk shouldn't matter too much. The idea is to have your target amount before the thing goes, and once you really believe it is about to be retired, make the decision to try and get more if you can. The difference is that once you reach your target goal, whether you get more or not shouldn't matter. Buying more would be a positive, but failing to would not be a disaster. As with any investment, you can make tactical deviations from these. If you believe RE will be very unique or whatever, then buy some and be comfortable with the risk. I'm not the first to say this by any stretch of the imagination, but it's good to bring it up every so often.

Understood. I had purchased 13 pc's and didn't like the way that 5 looked. Creased/ crushed corners- plus I bought some ds' in the same period. So I cherry picked the ones I wanted to keep and returned the rest. Trying to stay within budget too. I'm sure in 5 years I'll be kicking myself for returning them, but it is not within my budget right now to keep so many. Box condition does not drastically affect prices- but it does a little.

I'm a bit anal about these things, but i'd break down the entire set, place all the parts in individual ziplock bags that i'd label the bags with a sharpie, so that when the person gets it, they have a set just like you'd get in a new set except with the stickers already applied, etc. Then tape up the box, and ship it like i'd do new sets. That's just how I do things. Not saying it's right, and yes it takes more time. But for a set like the Death Star, that could potentially make someone 300.00 from what they paid for, even it if it's used, but complete and in excellent condition, I think its worth doing it that way in the long run..

So what you're saying is that this belongs in the "What did I hear from a LEGO employee today?" with all the other rumors and misinformation? Haha, I have no idea if it's true or not. It's always plausible that a QC issue can slow down production especially for certain sets that might rely on a part or a color or ____. But it all depends on who that employee might be and where they get their information. Always fun to hear the rumors true or not!

In my opinion, I think it's good to save the box by removing the seals, and folding it flat, unless of course the box is completely trashed. Sets on ebay that are opened, but complete, and still have the box (if it's in good condition) and instructions are usually what many AFOL collectors want. I know if I buy an older retired set, that's what I usually go for. You can always sell the individual boxes on ebay, and they usually do sell. I have a large thick cardboard box filled with flattened lego boxes in my shed. Right now my son plays with these sets, but whose to say in the future he will want to keep all of them... Regardless, they do take up space, though. Of course, looks like you live in Hawaii, so that might be the reason behind your high shipping costs to those of us in the states.

I think even a Cloud City done up like 10143 Death Star II should be a decent seller.

Yes, this is how I feel. We all know LEGO's system of tracking inventory is a little off at times and Sold Out can mean OOS or retired, but pay attention to the big picture. All these sets we have been discussing the last few days could be on the path to retirement, thus the reason why these sets showed up as Sold Out. There could still be another production run, but it also could indicate sets you need to focus on in the next 6 months. Glitch or not, these particular sets seem to have a lot in common.

I have them - Scan Rewards R Us Card - Scan Product - Tell them 10% TRU cc discount they hit a key - Have them apply other coupons - Get total - Swipe TRU cc - Hit Partial pay $1-$5 varying amounts to not be too repetitive on authorizations - Hand them gift card sheet to scan or key in or whatever - Get receipt - Rinse and repeat if the coupon was 25% off one item - Have the line of people pile up behind me - Have my TRU friends say Ma'am or Sir we are going to be a while if you want to go to see xxxxxx in electronics right there they will check you out

Hi There Folks I'm an AFOL from South Africa and I've been back into things for two years now after having my passion reignited by the Tower of Orthanc. I've taken the decision to take some capital out of a business and invest it in Lego. The market is so slow here that we usually still have good stock in the shops even after retirement. The whole Lego-investment game is just getting going here. The Namibian market is even slower, so much so that I purchased two Town Halls last week at the equivalent of about $175/set On the PC note I have something that may be of great interest to you all...our only Lego endorsed franchise of Lego stores removed the PC from their site in the last couple of days. I don't have a single one in my inventory and of all our online retailers there's only one that has a single one in stock

Surprisingly, she probably smelled the reseller in you and works secretly for TLG!

OK... one more story. Same Walmart as that last one... so I go there today to find one last 75919 Indominus Rex for $99. I look it over... it's got a little pinching from the security spider but otherwise in great shape. I'm in a hurry, but luckily I find no one in line at the 20 items or less lane. I hand over my item. She scans it, and I get out my money. She starts working the security spider. Obviously she doesn't have much skill at it... she's struggling with it... she's straining. I see the wires pulled extra tight, digging deeper and deeper into the box edges... but I control myself. Now... instead of laying it down and working on a nice flat surface right in front of her (the conveyor), she decides to pick it up and jam it half-diagonal cockeyed between the conveyor, her knee, and the bagging carousel. She continues to work at it... twist it... tug it... veins are starting to become prominent on her forehead (and mine)... then I stop her, "WAIT a minute!" I lift the box out of her hands and show her... when she jammed it down on the bagging carousel, she actually had skewered the box onto one of those metal prongs that the bags hang from. There's a hole right in the middle of the back of the box the size of a quarter. "Oh... sorry... do you want to exchange that for another?"... "That's the only one you have," I tell her... and just walk away.

It's really quite simple, if you think it's going away, buy it...If you don't don't...easy...

Awesome sets. I picked these up today at TRU. However, boy did Lego miss a chance at an epic set number. They gave 75911 to the McLaren, and 75912 to the Porsche set. Really? You couldn't give 75911 to the Porsche?
