  1. This was from the tub I bought last weekend. Took forever to find all the pieces in the tub but I finally finished it tonight. It was worth it, much cooler than I expected. I ordered a manual off bricklink to make it easier to sell but I kind of want to keep it now

  3. that was me. Thanks for the fast shipping and quality packaging. I finally decided to finish my Lone Ranger collection. I was too late in getting back in to Lego to buy these all at the nice clearance prices.

  4. Now they are just messin with us Man!! I looked on there a minute ago, and it said "Still Sold Out". And right after that: "Nah, just kidding." And finally: "Got your nose."

  5. I've seen this bit posted a few times about licenses on the license for individual sets within a licensed theme. I highly doubt there are license agreements for every set within a line. I would imagine that as long as TLG has the license to a produce sets for Star Wars, they have the ability to decide how long they are going to produce a particular set. Otherwise it would have gone something like, " Hey, George, it's Mark over at LEGO. Yea, about that UCS B-wing, it sucks. Do you mind if we pull the plug a little early on that one?"

  7. And that's the key. As long as you follow an strategy with the sets you like (say, I'll buy 5 TOO by the time it reaches 2 years on the shelves or whatever), retirement talk shouldn't matter too much. The idea is to have your target amount before the thing goes, and once you really believe it is about to be retired, make the decision to try and get more if you can. The difference is that once you reach your target goal, whether you get more or not shouldn't matter. Buying more would be a positive, but failing to would not be a disaster. As with any investment, you can make tactical deviations from these. If you believe RE will be very unique or whatever, then buy some and be comfortable with the risk. I'm not the first to say this by any stretch of the imagination, but it's good to bring it up every so often.

  9. I couldn't resist opening one and building it (I ordered two) and it is a great little build - the stand for the plane is awesome! Lots of stickers but very unique.

  10. So... I can never fly Lufthansa. If my kid got one of those, I'd have to make a deal with him... "Do you really want to open that?... I'll give you an Ezra's Speeder Bike when we get back from vacation, if you just give that to me now..."

  11. My wife's brother and his family have lived in Poland for the last 7 years. They are currently visiting and staying with us while they are here. Their flight was Lufthansa from Germany, which handed this poly out to the kids on board. Before I knew my niece had this, I've been building Lego with her, and gave her a 30188 Cute Kitten, and a 30285 Tiger to take home. She then surprised me with the Lufthansa bag as a gift. Lego is always the best universal gift to give.

  13. Built the Shuttle Tydirium last week, and it's now my new favorite non-exclusive Star Wars kit. All it needed was a stand, so I bricklinked the parts I needed so the stand is as new and shiny as the rest of it. Beautiful kit for those of you (like me) who do not have the UCS version.

  17. I have to admit, after watching each review I was getting more and more excited about this line. The other nice thing is you can display all of these together with one of each of the gang and it'll flow nice as if it was a single scene from a movie.

  18. Annoyed these still aren't showing up on TRU.com. I want to use my 25% off coupon combined with my 10% CC discount with the big sets this coming TRUTH. Hope they're in stock still.

  24. so they also suckered you into this set? I also picked up 3 more using $20 in VIPs. Ha I know the Raptor molds costly to make but $40 for this set is insane. So small. Think about it...for another $10 more, you get the Raptor Rampage (2 raptors including Blue, 2 main movie chars, bike, etc...). That is one of the reasons I'm not buying many of this set. Currently, I think resellers are the main reason for the spike in-demand and we might be stuck with these sets 2 years down the road because resellers won't be wanting more (ala Orc Forge and most other recent Walmart / target exlucives)

  29. Decent day buying today....all items on great clearance prices! Couldn't pass on any of it -- did pass on all the FRIENDS series and elves stuff - don't know anything about - all 50% off. AT-AT, picked up 12. Some turtles, tons of Cantina's (18 total) and Batman joker steam roller sets (I think 28 total) and some other low end junk.

  30. So yesterday I got my Meijer credit card bill. With the Meijer promotion for spending way too much money with them I got a 15% off all General Merchandise coupon. You have to spend $1500 on your credit card to get one of these coupons. You have to use your Meijer Credit Card to cash it in. You can probably see where this is going... Oh, and it stacks with the 15% mperks discount they are giving through tomorrow on all general merchandise ... Oh, and both offers stack on top of Clearance items... That is the good news, the bad news is I am now $500 closer to my next award because I went "investing" today. As I tell my wife, I am buying Legos for investment purposes only. :-) Three 79018 (The Lonely Mountain) - $79.83 each Retails at 129.99, Meijers Clearance at 110.49. 15% mPerks discount to 93.92 , 15% discount for CC purchase $79.83 - There are still some at the Mt. Clemens and Fraser Meijers at 110.49. I bought the best three I could find at Fraser as this set is basically disappearing from the retail stores around Detroit. (walmart and Target have none, Meijers is mostly out and TRU has some at TRU prices). They also had the 75032 (x-wing) and 75030 (falcon) clearing at 15% off so final price was $6.14 a piece on these (with additional discounts). Bought the last four falcons and two x-wings they had. Next up was the Battle of the Five Armies - 79017. This one was clearing at 44.99 with additional discounts and coupons it was down to $32.50. LAst one they had and the only one I have seen in eight Meijers in the area. I went to the Fraser store because I thought I remembered them having one of these from a week ago. They did and now I have another. For the heck of it I threw in a Ninjago 70727 x-1 Ninjago Charger. Not a big fan of the Ninjago series but I do like to have them in the annual garage sale. The final price was 21.67 and I don't have any so now I have one. But One I will flip at some point for a 25 to 30% profit (I Hope) Next on the list was a 60035 Artic Outpost. I did not have one of these so I added one to the collection so I can start working on the complete Artic set. I already had base camp so for a total of $30.70 I have expanded the collection and made a step towards completing the Artic subtheme. With all the hobbiting going on I had to add two witch battles (79015) at $9.20 each. For under $10 and with the three figures in the set I don't think I can go wrong by adding a few more of this set to the collection. And last but not least, have to add some Star Wars Rebels to the collection. Meijers lists the 75078 Imperial Troop Transport for $12.99 but had $3.00 off that price today so with discounts, etc. I was getting those at 7.22 each. I know it is early in the run for these items but when I can pull Star Wars at 40% or more off retail I have to make the buy. I bought three because I was pushing the limits already. I left a few on the shelves. I had to put some stuff back. AATs, Guardians of the Galaxy, small artic sets. There will hopefully be better opportunities in the future for these but at this point I had to let it go. I got the three Lonely Mountains I came for and the rest was just gravy. Too much gravy can sometimes ruin the meal. I think three lonely mountains at 38.5% off retail is a pretty good meal (er... deal)

  31. No i dont let an oil change factor into my decision to buy a lego set that has doubled in price. Or the snickers bar I ate on my trip. Do i deduct for taxes yes. My bank account says it is making me money, that is all I facfor in. But I only owned the set for 2 days so it cant be worth money unless i let it sit on my shelves for 3 years like all the other exclusives that never retire.

  32. Where I live I sold 10 in one day for 75+ thats definitely not $5 profit per set. Dont know if the exchange rate is different where you live but 40$ set selling for 75+ is not bad.

  35. no need to be sorry. i was just making a general statement. my example of 10188 could have been a placeholder for pretty much any set available currently.

  36. Lays night a cashier I've had once or twice before saw me and said "Ahh, it's lego day!", which I initially wrote off as being a comment about the 3 boxes I was buying. Then she said "have your rewards card? of course you do!"....hmmm...getting more familiar. Then as I was leaving, "see you next Thursday!" Seems as though she has me pegged

  39. Looks like there are close to 100 sellers on amazon for this set... It's going to be a while before this one does anything, I think. But this is the first exclusive of the year that I think is officially "retired", because once they removed the Lord of the Rings link from their site, that was a telling sign that it is not coming back, and I suspect it will get a retirement tag soon. This set did have a nice slow phaseout though, but it will be interesting to see how many resellers are still on ebay and amazon by years end. If there are still 80 or more, then I think it's going to be one of those sets to stash deep in the closet. Personally, I think this is the coolest set lego has done and by far one of my absolute favorite sets made.

  40. My guess is that it is a question of production capacity. At the end of the day, TLG has a finite capacity to manufacture bricks and sets. Without looking at any numbers, it seems to me like TLG has been pumping out a lot more new sets and new themes over the past few years than it has in the past (e.g., the Classic line of sets, the four great vehicle City sets last year, etc.), and each of those sets and themes must lay claim to some percentage of that finite manufacturing capacity. Unless TLG has a lot of excess manufacturing capacity, the smartest play that they can make is to allocate the available capacity to the sets and themes that prove to be most profitable. Even though 10188 may be a good seller and may still be a profitable set, the ultimate question is whether it is sufficiently profitable when compared to other sets/themes to justify the manufacturing and distribution capacity that it requires to place the set into the hands of retailers. I would suspect that there are going to be a lot of retirements over the next 3-6 months simply because of the manufacturing capacity that TLG is going to be allocating to the new Star Wars sets.

  42. Agreed - the F40 is the cleverest, tightest build I've ever assembled from Lego. It is pure magic the way the designer has aligned so many separate surfaces that are adjacent yet connected to different parts of the set. And this set looks so much better than the box art. All around, a beautiful model and a great build. The designers should be proud. Agreed - this needs to happen.

  43. Last year I got a lot that had an emerald night, QAR, BP, shuttle expedition, 90% of a Grand Carousel, and 150 pounds of assorted bulk for $50. I find lots like that (minus GC) several times a year.

  48. Oh no worries, I realize it won't be easy to keep it. I'll be taking a 7+ month hiatus from selling anything this coming Christmas. I have a good number of ripened Star Wars sets I hope to sell this fall so even a 20% savings on fees will be worth it. This is the first time I've ever found a worthwhile stash of polys at my local TRUs so I'm just having a little fun too. I averaged it to $5 profit per, $240 = 48 polybags. I think I ended up with 51 but I'm keeping 2 for myself and I gave one away. It's not a ton of money for the effort but what the hell, it's more fun than my day job right now.
