And that's the key. As long as you follow an strategy with the sets you like (say, I'll buy 5 TOO by the time it reaches 2 years on the shelves or whatever), retirement talk shouldn't matter too much. The idea is to have your target amount before the thing goes, and once you really believe it is about to be retired, make the decision to try and get more if you can. The difference is that once you reach your target goal, whether you get more or not shouldn't matter. Buying more would be a positive, but failing to would not be a disaster. As with any investment, you can make tactical deviations from these. If you believe RE will be very unique or whatever, then buy some and be comfortable with the risk. I'm not the first to say this by any stretch of the imagination, but it's good to bring it up every so often.6 points

Got this from ebay today. Am really surprised to see the pilot minifigure torso is actually a sticker and not printed - is that common? Regardless I love this polybag. When I was a kid my family lived in Europe and we flew Lufthansa often and I remember loving the long plane rides from California and they always gave my younger brother and I cool toys and flying kits.5 points

honestly, all this talk about in-stock, sold-out, lego stating more will be made, etc... it just makes me want to finally crack open one of my opened box / sealed bags 10188s. it must really be a cool build considering all the features.5 points

Not for me. Clearing ~$5-7 on a $40 set is not making my money work hard enough. If I knew there was a "limitless" supply and it continued to sell at $65, sure. But neither situation is true. To each his own.5 points

Still sold out in the US and potential inventory in Europe. Didn't the SSD do something similar?5 points

what's that hissing sound? for a second i thought it was a leaking balloon, but no it was the sound of a thousand receipts being rustled in the wind. chaos rules the day. sold out - meaningless. TOOS - sure it is. limit 5 gone tomorrow.3 points

My wife's brother and his family have lived in Poland for the last 7 years. They are currently visiting and staying with us while they are here. Their flight was Lufthansa from Germany, which handed this poly out to the kids on board. Before I knew my niece had this, I've been building Lego with her, and gave her a 30188 Cute Kitten, and a 30285 Tiger to take home. She then surprised me with the Lufthansa bag as a gift. Lego is always the best universal gift to give.2 points

This is probably a better place to be putting investment money instead of the JW line atm.2 points

Lol, I went through and smooshed several boxes of CMF 10 at area Targets and found no Gold. I should have kept all Bumblebee Girls I found as those turned out to be nice consolation prize, even better than the Medusas2 points

That sounds like a reasonable price based on the current prices of individual S10 figs2 points

Wargs and weathertop were poor investment choices for me, too. Oh well, can't win them all but you can learn from them all.2 points

TOO performance has been disheartening on Amazon. For a 200$ set to be oos for months and price stagnating at 260 , that is a telling sign IMO .2 points

Retired sets are the only sets that would concern me and its what I was referring to, never crossed my mind to sell sets that were still in production. How do people make any money selling sets that are still in production. (besides Lego employee and Mr. Five Fingers?)2 points

^ This...I am glad that you made mention of this type of action. For the past few years I would take Lego on sale/clearance and would drop off to the Children's Hospital here in town. However, I would always take my children along and make them deliver it with me. I would then remind them " that if they think they were having a bad day, just remember that some of these kids won't be going home for Christmas"... It has always been a good learning experience for my kids, humbling for me and the hospital gets a kick out of all the Lego. Not trying to toot my horn or to apply pressure to others, but I wish more people took this approach. Spot on, sir.2 points

The Grand Hotel looks flippin' sweet. My daughters will have one someday. Out of principle, I won't be buying them any Pop Star stuff. We get enough "how cool is it to be a celebrity" ram-rodded down our throat as it is in America. Unfortunate to see Lego jumping on.2 points
