  1. Sold my first SSD for $845 USD after fees and shipping. A little earlier than I originally planned but it helped fund some Pet Shops and Tower Bridges.

  2. Currently working on transforming this into a JP1 vehicle because as it stands; i'm not a fan of the JW version which doesn't even appear in the film. Got all the parts ordered, but it will mostly be a trial and error system. Hard to get the red stripes in the right spot. Will certainly post pictures in a month or so when all the parts arrive and I've tinkered with it.

  3. I ordered some Constitution Trains at Wal-Mart for pick-up and they canceled my order. I go to this store a few weeks later and see some Constitution Trains on the shelf, I pick one up and there is a Site To Store sticker on it with my name on it. I pick up another and it has the same sticker. They canceled my order and just stuck them back on the shelf with my pick-up sticker attached to the box. I did ask them to remove the sticker before placing them back on the floor.

  6. The Zombies...I remember seeing them on the shelf at Target but never bought one because it never went on sale. Next thing you know it's completely gone from the retail market. Now it's too overpriced for what you get with it IMO.

  7. If you don't have a hair dryer with you in the store :-) you can always, with some pressure rub your fingers quickly back & fourth across the sticker - the friction will produce enough warmth to soften the glue somewhat - it looks counter intuitive, like you're actually pressing the sticker more firmly in place but it does work in a pinch. or 'course if you have a Samsung dumbphone just rest it on the box for a few minutes & the heat from the battery should work sufficiently if it doesn't burst into flames first.

  8. EZ QFLL. Even a lazy ar$e like myself is motivated to flip 20 of these. stuff in an envelope, stick on a label, cha-ching. rinse & repeat. I'm just taking my cue from the man, the myth, the legend - legodelorean.

  15. I've been spending a loooooot of time lately sorting by element into baggies. I am then going to take those baggies and put them into bins like 1x? flat, 1x? brick, 2x? flat, 2x? brick, other flats and bricks, other elements and minifigures, parts, and accessories. I have gone too far to stop now, but I am sick of digging through random stuff looking for a specific piece. Even by color is too tedious and I tend to miss what I am looking for.

  17. So, it sounds like on saturday we will finally get to see some of the upcoming sets at SDCC. Do you think they'll usher in the entire wave ? Or just show a few? Finally, something good to look forward to this week. Hopefully they show boxart, minifigures, and sets in full. The sets get released in two months, so it's about that time. It's listed on this page, if you look at the product reveals section: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tormentalous/19468950912

  20. My TRU CC sign-up experience: I applied online. The fine print said that I could use the discount code online in the first 90 days. There was no real mention of it having to be the first purchase. So I used the CC repeatedly over the holiday season. When there was finally enough things "in stock" online, it was around 80 days out and the code wouldn't work. I had to jump thru a lot of hoops in order to get a code that worked and I finally did. But I did have to call TRU and the CC CS repeatedly to get it worked out. That alone may make it not worthwhile - but I am not 100% sure that it had to do with being the first purchase with the card or not.

  25. That lasted longer than normal... It was available for like 1.5 weeks. I give it 24 hours and see if the site changes status after their nightly update. Hopefully it will go this time without any back orders to fill as add to cart option is no longer available... at least for now

  26. Has anyone noticed that Hulk Buster Smash has gone to sold out status in Europe? Seems pretty early for it to go, but it always struck me as an odd set at that price point and one that could easily disappear early. Will be interesting to watch.

  30. I would like to own / build Cafe Corner. However, I would then want Market Street and Green Grocer. Finally, I'm insane enough to want every other modular. I just don't have the display space. Thus sadly I will not ever buy Cafe Corner because of my self-control issues. Now if I lucked into one for 1/2 of market price, i would just sell it. The temptation of building it would lead be down a dark path.

  31. yeah, I thought their prices were high before. the prices are getting even higher. Used 10196s earlier this year could be had for $900 (under $800 with some luck). Now the prices are around $1,400+. Same with the Taj to some extent. These mid to late non-licensed exclusive 2000s sets with 2-3 years of retail just keep going up and up. i'll sell you one for a nice deal ha MISB prices have actually decreased a tad before last Halloween.

  33. When I was in a Lego store with my wife a few months ago, I was trying to figure out which $200-300 set to buy; she started talking out loud about which was most likely to rise in value with an employee right next to where we were. I had to have a talk with her once we got out of there!

  38. Made my 8th and final purchase today to complete my build of the Imperial Flagship #10210. Still don't have original instructions or a box, but I did manage to get all new parts and minifigures for about $285. Wish I wouldn't have been in my dark age when this set was available retail, but I just had to have it for my collection.

  41. How do you know the difference between the innocent / ignorant and those who are actually likely to cause you problems based on just an offer? I mean jeez, people block people for things that could be simple typos (seemingly not in this case). My point is, being overly judgmental seems to be a common problem these days, and not a small one, imho. Maybe it has something to do with our increasingly tech'd-out, instant-gratification-based society that fails to encourage ACTUAL HUMAN INTERACTION on many significant levels. But I digress... I promote patience and professionalism. It has ALWAYS worked well for me - just takes a bit more effort.
    1 point
  42. Absolutely. When I see people and their insta-block mentality, I just think "that's someone I don't want to do business with". You are driving away customers. How would you feel if Walmart flat-out banned you for asking about a bulk clearance discount, or a sketchy price match? Better yet, how about if your Lego B&M store kicks you out for asking for a break on a damaged box? Just about everyone is looking for a deal, and the definition of such need not be the same for both buyer and seller. Have a little tolerance. You nearly have a point, but don't make the mistake of assuming this person is calculating your profit margin in their head when they ask. That's not their problem. Maybe they just have a budget and a need and are hoping for the best. I had an older rare sealed star wars set listed last year and got a generic message asking if I would take barely over half the BIN price. Sure, I rolled my eyes, but then I made a short professional reply declining the offer. The story got interesting (and suspicious to me) when I was basically begged to reconsider by a 12 year old kid looking to spend all his birthday money on the one set he wanted most. Taking the story at face value, I replied again in a much more friendly manner, apologizing that I couldn't accept his offer, and suggested he search for used sets instead. Three days later I get notified his grandpa agreed to pay for the difference, and I got my full asking price and made a kid really happy with no hassle whatsoever. No need to jump to conclusions about who is a true fruitcake and who needs to be blocked from your "shut up and give me your money" business, people.
