Back in the early Fall, Ed and I were approached by Krause Publishing to develop a LEGO Collecting and Price Guide book. Not sure how many of you have ever been involved with putting a book together, but it is quite a task. For months Ed worked to the early morning hours putting the content together while I have taken thousands of photos and organized data. At this point, a lot of what we needed to submit has been handed over and the full production of the book is in progress. Now you all can understand why I have been running that other thread looking for some photos for some sets. If you have a little time, please look at that list and contact me if you have the boxes or even better have it built. I will be able to send you a photo release and of course you get credit in the book. I know a few of you have had eagle eyes and found the current Amazon preorder online. The book is slated to be released mid November, just in time for all of you to ask for one for the holidays. We really hope that those of you that do decide to pick up a copy enjoy what we have put together. As I have said, it has been a lot of work and there is still a bit more to accomplish, but it will be exciting to walk into a book store one day and see your work sitting there. It may also clear up a bunch of times that Ed and I have said, we were quite busy working on some things, well at least now you know and hopefully now we can get back to doing more content for the site itself and other things. ​The idea that TLG would make decisions on what sets to release and how to design them solely -- or even partly -- to disrupt the secondary market and resellers is ludicrous. TLG is a business and a very successful one...they are making decisions on what to release based on what will make them the most money. In all likelihood, a new Death Star set would be designed to tie in with the upcoming rebel movie in which it is alleged to be a central feature. They could keep the current DS on the market, but it wouldn't fit well into the marketing plans for the upcoming movie tie-ins.

I think the head and hair makes a great Old Man from Pawn Stars MOC. Maybe 2016 will yield a Chumlee Wookie.

On BL it is the opposite as the number keeps on growing but min prices in euros there are also nudging 450 euros. By Xmas 2016 it should be at where GG prices are now if the modular series remains popular and stock has thinned out.

​First, my participation to this forum exceeds far and wide the discussion on this thread, second, just2good is not my pal. I appreciate his tips and I respect his consistency and manner of communication. Concerning the "number of forum posts" elitism, it is by no means any measure of post quality. I stated at more then one instance that I am very long in the game of collecting and though I am new in investment waters, I have a very good knowledge of SW line evolution and its parameters. I would be interested in reading an opposing argument from someone of my level of SW experience in say other Lego lines... Back to the topic, it is precisely in the pure interest of people making investment decisions that I do state, loud and clear, that 10188 can be a wonderful bulk of Light Bluish Grey a year from now hoping it would stop a NOVICE investor from splurging 400+ whatever for something that may very well go to Bricklink parts sale in mentioned period. You guys are veterans and if you lose few 100s bucks because of the poor risk analysis, you can absorb it. A newbie who decides to splash his pocket money hoping for some profit on this set may be put off the game permanently (ok, less competition, but that's not truly the intent of this forum, is it? ) As for the j2g successful predictions, forum is Eurobricks and Google is your friend...

I will never ever offer partial refund again. Too many scammers. Have a solid return policy, and hold them too it. I am still at 100% but care if I drop below that. I get threatened usually about once a month. My policy is NO returns if opened at all, they can do a SNID case. If used/open lego or loose minifigures, they pay shipping, and 20% restock fee. Posted in my store policies and all my listings. Protects me from giving a buck or two or getting extorted. Even if they seem like a super nice guy, send it back at their cost and then they have the 20% fee, they usually end up keeping it

​First of all I mostly collect, I rarely sold any sets. Only did that when there was free money on the shelves (Rovers....). I personally don't care if LEGO does a new release or not. If they do I will buy it. And yes, LEGO should punish people to a degree from a business logic point of view. And saying that they don't get a single penny is probably not true. By inducing fear in people that they will miss a set like they did with the Falcon then they won't postpone purchases. More money is spent in the end. Also I did not say that they should not re-release any sets. What I said is that it is good that they have a very coveted set as an example. The collectible market works like this, limited time purchases drive it. For the people coming out of Dark Ages: just look at the current offerings. For an ordinary consumer they are more than enough to choose from. We are the crazy fanatics and collectors on this site. Vocal minority. Most people don't buy so many exclusives that the present offerings are exhausted. They are perfectly happy with buying a TIE.

​LEGO doesn't gain anything by having a set retired that can only be acquired in the secondary market. They don't gain a single penny. It would make more sense if they did release a larger version in some capacity. And you have to take into consideration about people in the dark ages. Why would you think that LEGO wants to punish these people who outgrew Lego for many years, only to come back and not have an opportunity to buy a set at retail. That's pretty vindictive if you ask me, if you believe that Lego purposely does this. I was in my dark ages from 2003-2013. 10 years seems to be a fairly normal amount of time to be in the dark ages. I've missed out on a lot of great sets from then. I think it's great that Lego appears to start this trend of remaking/re-releasing UCS sets. I hope they continue this trend honestly. I know you investors hate it, but I think it's great for people like me, who've missed out on a set to get a chance to get a similar version for retail without having to pay sometimes exorbitant secondary prices. Granted I think this works only if they keep a decent enough time span in between UCS sets like the X-wing.

By the way by not releasing an UCS falcon LEGO can surely achieve one thing. It's the "I did not buy it when it was being produced and now it is so expensive" argument. It's the set you can always point at when you want to sell your product. The living example for people to buy sets before they are retired. By now almost everybody and their dog knows about the giant expensive LEGO Falcon. As long as LEGO can induce the regret in people for missing these sets the firm is sitting on a gold mine. If there is a set they should keep forever retired for this reason then it is the Falcon.

I do hold that book, e copies are available for download on Amazon for 5.00.

I guess I better stop buying sets for investment. Once this hits the NY times bestseller list, everyone and the their mother will be investing in Lego.

Found three CMF unicorn girls in two different Walgreens. Hoping these will rise to chicken suit levels down the line. Hot dog guys are still pretty elusive around here. They're just too easy to identify so they're always scooped up quick.

LEGO sent me a poster without the figure. I called them yesterday and they are sending me a replacement. The CS rep indicated that they had these leftover so I'm betting they will be back in a future promo if there are enough available. It would be a nice combo with another minifigure somewhere down the road.

​I would hold it. You missed the initial $35 and up PP and now that it is no longer available and all of the LEGO Shop at Home orders have been delivered we should see how many listings there are by Saturday night. I think this may be rarer then expected with limited 4 day availability and $75 buy in like Revan but with no great sale to cause people to place multiple orders. This all depends on what they plan to do with the extras, Hoth Hahn.

​I am pretty sure that ridiculous statements like this are the reason for any harsh responses.

I sold the "Black 3" TIE Pilot minifigure from the new UCS TIE Fighter for $50 shipped. After selling him and the Yularen my net price for the TIE is ~$130. I plan on buying another one down the road which will probably be manned by this guy but I figure the first one will get a standard TIE pilot.

​There's definitely a connection. I remember looking at the feedback on yesterday's seller and he only had one from a Chinese seller and coincidentally today's seller has only one feedback from the same Chinese seller.

​You have to figure that the vast majority of the sales for this set will have happened over a year before the introduction of the new set. Sure, you'll piss off a few, but that's going to keep Lego from releasing a new Death Star? Uhh no. If you're a hardcore collector, you'll buy the new one no questions asked. If you're a kid that actually played with the set, you probably don't care if the new set is better and stick to the old one, or you've probably outgrown Lego. In the end, all good things must come to an end. The new Death Star will probably have updates to its minifigures and building techniques but more importantly, Disney will have their logo emblazoned on the flagship SW Lego set. It has to happen, and happen fast. None of this, oh we may hurt somebody's feelings BS.

​There's a new Death Star next year. Also, we're getting LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures next year, most likely as the May release.

Legowalker, I think you should hold your SB sets. I think even the old sail barge will rise again in value... Think about it this way. When the new set was released, it basically hampered the secondary market on the old one. When a new buyer can purchase the new sail barge on the market for 119.99 or lower, and the other one was going for 300, most people are going to opt for the new one. Now that both are in the hands of the secondary market, both will probably be comparable in price again. I wouldn't doubt the old one goes back up into the 200 to 250 range quite quickly. It already looks like it is getting a steady rise upwards again, and once the march/april data is released on this site, I bet we see it swing up again. Also, it's getting more rare as a horded item as time goes on so it may go higher than that. Add in that there are going to be a lot of new SW fans flooding into this world come December 18th, and these two sets are going to have some old fashioned demand. There's no Jabba the Hutt currently in a set that isn't EOL, and so this one will be valued by some. Don't let that dip fool you.

My general philosophy is that any original trilogy-based Star Wars LEGO set with an MSRP over $100 that can be had at greater than 25% discount (e.***. bogo 50%), is a buy. This set which has some cool minifigures and is an iconic scene will do well once people can't have it and thus they want it. Come this time next year I expect this is getting to $170. This set's 2013 sibling, the republic gunship is already getting this on ebay. At the same time, with the new movies coming out, we might get lucky and interval between rehashing gets stretched out to accomodate the newer sets. For me this is a medium term hold - 1-2 years.
