  2. Walked into the lego store today...."do you have any palace cinemas in stock?" Employee.."oh no. Sorry, palace cinema is retired." Me..."oh really, cause i called yesterday and someone told me you will be getting some in." long story short. I asked him to check in the back low and behold guess what he walks out with. So yeah lego store employees really know very little about what is "retired" and what is not lol

  7. Just finished the Kwik-E-Mart last weekend. Here it is next to my Simpsons house: Great, fun build. Apart from the stickers. Might get round to writing up a decent build review at some stage as I took heaps of pics along the way.

  17. But the video isn't clear about which figures fit height wise in the pods themselves. Here's a view of the inside of the pod.. the floor is all at the same level. Here are all of the minifigs... note the height (i.e. which have tall legs which have short). Now the full pods.. You can't see, but I believe the figs with full size legs must be sitting otherwise how would they fit? So what it means is that three short-legged figs would fit or 2 full-size (on the sides sitting) + 1 short in the door area.

  18. Really well priced, I`d have expected it to be even higher. $200USD and $230CDN is excellent for 2400+ pieces. Not to go off topic, but look at the Tie Fighter with less that 1700 pieces for the same price. Just serves as a reminder that licensing carries with it both higher costs and in turn higher prices. Anyway, they`re both excellent.

  19. On the other hand, they did not skimp out on the supports or ramp structure. There's 8 support legs, when they could have gone cheap with just 4. And the loading ramp, etc. are pretty detailed as well. Not to mention the new transluscent decorative pieces. Finally, they went with 12 gondolas, when they could have cheaped out with 8. I think it looks great, especially in the video. I suspect this is one set that will look better in person than pics.

  20. Yup, I did get 6 R2's a few weeks ago, and they were 20% off too! I received them all in good shape so I was happy about that! On a side note: I replied to the e-mail I received from TRU regarding their screw up and their offer of 15% off a future order. They replied saying the 15% is valid on their Ebay store only, and there are NO RESTRICTIONS. So it sounds to me like this does include Lego exclusives, and I specifically asked if any Lego sets were not valid within this offer. I've kept my e-mail for backup in case they changed their mind lol EDIT: here is a copy and paste of their reply back to me: Dear Hans (That's me lol) Thank you for contacting Toys "R" Us Canada on eBay Support. To answer your questions, yes the 15% discount on a future order is applicable to our Toys "R" Us Canada on eBay store only. Also, there are no restrictions as to which items you may purchase. Please reply to this message with the new order number so we may assist you further with your refund. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to respond to this email. Thank you again for contacting us. Sincerely, Holly Guest Service Team Toys "R" Us Canada on eBay Support

  21. Soft "natural hair" makeup brush is definitely the way to go for your most common dust (wide span for large areas & chisel/pencil tip for more detailed parts) However if your dust is more greasy/oily from being closer to the kitchen areas of the house (or where hairspray is being used, dog hair is airborne or, gasp!, smokers are in the house) you'll need to use a synthetic brush as that type of dust won't be picked up by natural hair as efficiently. Natural animal hair bristles can also be statically charged & make dust collection very easy. (you used to be able to do this just keeping them on top of the TV, not so much any more since the FPs arrived)

  23. Not in US dollars. That being said, paying nearly 2x MSRP for a used set for investment probably isn't the best use of your money.

  24. Did someone mention that the pods on the ferris wheel look odd? see link to picture - there seem to be a few ferris wheels in the real world moddelled like the lego version. http://www.westcoastamusements.com/ferris-wheel/ anyhow, just thought I'd let you guys know

  29. I would recommend getting all the pieces to complete the set. It would be a really hard sell trying to sell the top half of the fire brigade.

  30. Small set, low price point, stocking up early was a no brainer for me. Waiting till the last minute on sets like this one is like throwing money down the toilet.

  31. yeah - i just did the same thing - yes you can order it over the phone from CS at shop at home. also if you search ecto-1 by its set number at shop at home 21108 you get a blank page. CS said its a glitch which should be fixed soon. oh well - lack of personal stock of this set has been nagging low level concern which I took care of today. did the same thing when Delorean went out of stock in august before coming back in full force in the fall and i don't regret that decision at all. now back to PS SH Tumbler R5 EV DS

  32. Meant respectfully you will make more friends if you do not post every time someone has a deal what the lifetime low for the item was implying it is not a good deal, nor make authoritative statements like you did. someone already stated this and I think you continue. how do you know LEGO Shop at Home will not have it last? I don't think that statement is accurate or known. unless your just trolling the site for fun.

  34. Just throwing this out there... Fairground Mixer and Ferris Wheel. Okay great. Now, start adding in Jokerland. And Joker's Funhouse. And the Go-Kart polybag. And the Hot Dog Stand. And the Flower Stand poly. The pieces are there for a true Fairground to be hatched.

  35. We're not predicting blind with Ferris Wheel post EOL. We have recent data on large exclusives that are well hoarded. GE doubled in value roughly 7 months after EOL; HH doubled in value almost immediately, call it 2 month. TH - priced higher at $200, and hence a poor seller - went early, and has tripled in value after 6 month. All of these were in the hoarders sights in the modern "well invested" era. Given all this, I would place a very good bet that FW easily doubles in the first year post EOL, probably sooner. Assuming it doesn't pull a TB/DS lifetime.

  36. The 3 biggest winners of the sets to go EOL in the last 12 months have been GE, HH, and TH. After this, you have Mixels (and before you SSD me, that set hasn't doubled in value; all the previous one have. Only TH arguably meets the "rarity" criteria, but certainly not "rarity" by CC or GG standards, and GE and HH violate both your rules, as most certainly do Mixel Series 1, they were everywhere and wholly invented inside the Lego Universe. I think there's a completely different dynamic, and that's collectability, set design, and perceived appeal. If a design is particularly appealing or good + that set is part of a collected series or theme, that's the recipe for doing "quite well" IMHO. Exhibit A: Modulars. Or, to be a bit more broad, basically any Lego exclusive.

  38. I built two of the Star Wars Microfighters - the Star Destroyer and TIE Interceptor. I've got a whole set of them, and I'm planning on taking those, a few of the planets from the Planets series, and maybe 8099 ISD and hanging them from my 3 year old's ceiling to compliment his Star Wars bedroom. I'll take some photos when I'm done.

  39. Not to burst your bubble or anything, but this will be on the market for 2-3 years probably. Maybe more if it's a good seller. So you're looking at it hitting $400 some time around 2019/2020 if you're lucky IMHO. It will never hit $1000 or get anywhere close. (don't know what's up with the quote functions lately, but I'm really struggling with it lol.)

  40. My point is that this will hopefully end the talk of retirement for this set. If they were done with the set, they wouldn't take the time and effort to change that small detail on the box for a final run, just to avoid having 3 people complain about the height shown on the box.

  41. So learning the whole "quote" thing. Anyhow, I am not sure it's from inappropriateness or immature behavior. I am very new to the site, however, I am female in my 30's and have been collecting since I was a kid. Had a dark period in my teens until early twenties, then started collecting again, then went back to school, then became broke, and now I am collecting again and have been for the past few years. I think honestly it's just there are not that many women who collect. I do think that Lego is doing a good job to attract younger girls. But, out of all the women I know, I am the only Lego collector in real life that I know. I personally am not afraid of inappropriate or immature behavior. I have been around, and some would say I have lived it. Or that I am living it... either way. I appreciate the idea of remaining mature and civil, however we all do like our laughs.

  43. I think it's a huge mistake not to include Power Functions on this set. If any set requires it, it is this one.

  44. So this thing may not even make it 2 years. I have been ignoring it and getting Tower Bridges. $320 is a tough pill to swallow but if it's going this soon it should do very well. In for my first one. Damn this site...

  45. Hypothetically speaking...if a flipper bought an R2 for $300 today, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he doubles that by next winter in the heart of STAR WARS mania. It is such a popular character and with no other set like it, he can reach those levels in my opinion. I do not believe the Slave I will retire next winter, so the opportunity could be there to acquire 3 Slaves from the original $300 in the span of a year.

  48. visit the camelcamelcamel.com web and choose any lego reference you want. When the price graph comes up you have to click on the sales rank tab. I don´t see this data as conclusive myself as there are so many swings from high to low but I probably don´t have the brains to interpret it properly.
