  1. Started a day earlier than planned, just needed a break from work. First 3 pics are bag 1. Bags 2 and 3 are the exact same thing and are the sides the wings will attach to. Bag 4 is some roof trim on the cockpit. The round roof piece is a pre printed piece. So far 6 stickers (looks like 8 more and the UCS stand sticker). Bag 5 is just some more cockpit trim then the rest are the wings and stands. 1 hour and 20 minutes so far. Looking like it will be around what the X Wing was time wise. The manual is similar to architecture and has a lot of facts and information in the pages leading up to the build. Box is the 23" x 18.5" x 3.5" style box. It is 12 bags total. So far it is 12" wide so guess the wings will be the big part. According to the box it will spin 360 degrees on the stand from what it looks like.

  5. I'd get a partial refund from the seller and buy the box on BrickLink. The box is only $1.40 at Sir Timothy's, plus probably $6 shipping or so. Up to you if you want some other compensation from the seller for the hassle. I'm sure the seller would be happy to get a buyer who actually communicates with the seller before escalating the situation.

  7. eBay works like this: Private seller- don't really care it's just extra pocket money, whatever. Big business seller- don't really care I do large volume too justify any return blah blah blah Small business seller- I cannot afford any more silly eBay defects, try's hard, provides excellent service and will always accommodate. Outlet- Easy money why not. If you want the best service from an eBay seller who actually cares about customer support, use an eBay seller who seems to specialise entirely in Lego, has around 99%+ feedback and isn't selling 1000's of different items. Otherwise avoid like the plague.

  8. He's stating it more like fact rather than opinion, and not nicely either. I don't care if people want to post what they think, but when they are rude about it and act like a little kid trying to get their point across its annoying and a waste of time reading the post......especially with " I am right.thanks". Great, he may be right, but coming off like a pompous jerk isn't going to make others here like you or respect your input. Rant over, moving on.......

  9. It's not wrong as in most of them will not care why you ask. It might be wrong in that 99% have no clue and might lead you to make bad decisions.

  12. I no longer give partial refunds, too many people blackmailing your feedback for a few bucks. I have them send it back for refund. I also had this happen to me on a purchase, boxes got crunched, but don't care that much. I left neutral feedback, which I think is appropriate Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app

  13. The seller should of properly packaged it, especially if it was a business seller. It does sound like a private seller though so I would contact him using the 'other' option so he doesn't get a defect, we all hate defects. Then ask for either a partial refund say like $20.00 or you would like to return it. If he gives you the run around then you eBay screw him by opening up a case stating as item not as described ( I think you can include photos can't remember) then eBay will decide in your favour and give you a full refund when you return the item. Unsure on the American rules but the seller should pay for the return postage. You could also be nice and upload photo's, because he may pursue a claim through the courier he used to get some money back so everybody wins. If you feel like being nice of course....

  15. To complete my analysis of whether EU inventory data tracks Amazon sales, here's the last bits. I'll compare sales rate in the EU data to Amazon sales rank for the last 3 months. We only have good EU inventory data back to early February, but using the rate (units/week) should be ok Sales rates are remarkably similar each week throughout the EU data. I'll also note the number of restocks of each set. Here we go. First column is Amazon sales rank, second is EU sales rate in units/week. 3rd column is number of restocks. Sales rate is my eyeball of the data, good to +/- 10 units/week. DO 9, 500 units/week, 4 restocks PS 9, no data - 0 inventory throughout PC 11, 310 units/week, 3 restocks Tumbler 14, 300 units/week, 0 restocks PR 32, 250 units/week, 2 restocks Simpson

  16. It looks like many sets got restocked today in the EU according to the inventory tracker provided by Brickset (Red Five, Sea Cow, EV, SOH, TB, ToO). Some of them seem to have had huge restocks.

  25. If you plan to keep I would also go after 20% of the value. That is a typical discount for damaged lego boxes from various sellers. But if they refund what you ask you shouldn't leave neut/neg since they corrected the mistake, so it's a money play or feedback play but not both.

  26. Data on EU inventory levels comes from Brickset, from which I've made a local archive for my own use. Amazon sales ranks comes from camelcamelcamel.com Here's the link to camel^3 for the Simpson's House. Click on the "sales rank" tab, then adjust to show 3 months data. It will tell you the highest sales rank.

  27. Yeah we have similar things over here, and yes I never offer a partial refund I always ask them to open a case for a return. Granted it's only happened like 4 times in 3 years but only 2 ever actually did open a case and it was legitimately damaged in transit.

  28. I had this happen too recently I don't take returns but opened a not as described Settled a partial refund, but he was a scammer You can use toolhaus.org to check feedback they left and patterns of negatives Then I block them, there is a website that has a blacklist of people to block Maybe we need a brickpicker version

  29. File dispute not as described. As a seller he should have known better to ship it in a box at least. Request discount or if u like return it for refund and ask buyer pay for return shipping. Depending on how the seller handled the situation and then think about the feedback.

  30. OMG! I feel so heartless, I forgot you can replace the box. LOL. I agree with cosmicblast since the seller will rethink the packaging next time. Assuming the partial refund is like $20 or something...

  31. I can only tell you what's happening in Hungary. At the release of SH the hopes of some store owners were very high (I know the owner of one of the most popular stores), they stacked SH-s like crazy. It bombed. While modulars were frequently going out of stock. They still have the stock from back then, never had to backorder. This signals Hungarian demand quite well since most Hungarians are buying exclusives in physical stores, according to my experience very few people use s@h. Explains why overpriced webshops have 40k and 25k likes on facebook in a 10m country. Anyway I don'T believe that our tastes differ significantly from that of Europe. SH has a certain appeal, but with constrained budgets there are more desirable sets out there for EU citizens.

  32. You cannot compare Spongebob with the Simpsons I think. Spongebob is for kids. And isn't there a new spongebob movie coming? Simpsons is a bit more for adults. For AFOLs like us. That is why the Simpsons sets are more detailed. Spongebob sets are more playsets. If the Simpsons House is to retire soon it may turn out to be a good investment in a couple of years. Even in Europe. But it will take time. In that way you can compare it to Spongebob. It needs time to ripe as an investment.

  37. Talk about a backseat driver. Ha. I think everything about the vehicle is fine until getting to the cage which leaves an open skeleton in place of anything else like a rocket turret or something. I know, they're meant to trap the thing and keep it alive but some sort of gun battery would be awesome. Honestly I would think the T-Rex's head should be sticking out the back otherwise the driver's cabin will be for lunch. Well that one had a helicopter which I have to question would such a thing actually work in real life? I was thinking the van looked more like the Triceratops Trapper in the last Dino series.

  42. The careful filing of topics into a relatively few number of threads is actually an enormous positive on this site. You don't have to wade through pages of different threads to find relevant topics on the set of interest, you just go to one place. Also, the length of this thread and the age is actually another huge clue if you care to think about it. And if you're observant, there's even more to be learned from that "old and irrelevant" info that you think no longer applies. Quite the contrary, that's some golden info that will tell you quite a bit about the future of not just 10188, but a number of other sets as well. If this was easy and obvious, many more folks would do it. It takes time and patience to learn the basics on both ends: the best way to acquire sets (and which ones), as well as the best way to sell sets (and when). We were all novices once, and we're all still learning. The suggestions you make are counterproductive and would harm the way many of us use this site. I appreciate your suggestions, nothing wrong with those. Understand that the reason things are done such as grouping comments into single threads by set is the result of many expert investors input, some serious wisdom on this site, and the result of many mistakes made by others before you. You're benefitting from all that. You'll come to see why things are done the way they are here, and hopefully recognize the value they'll ultimately represent to your investments.

  47. Having analyzed those LEGO Webshop EU graphs a bit for info on exclusive sets, one could draw some conclusions like the following 10 fun/trivia facts (without liability) - if the data found there is more or less correct: 1.) "Is this good or bad?" The worst selling exclusive sets in the shown timeframe of March 2015 were: - Benny's Spaceship - Sydney Opera House - Architecture Studio - Ewok Village - Fairground Mixer - Metal Beard's Sea Cow - The Tower of Orthanc So, not too much love especially for the LEGO Movie sets with Benny's Ship seemingly being THE worst selling exclusive overall in March. Now the big question is: What is better - Investing in slow sellers, so there is less competition (but also less demand) post-EOL; or investing in the big sellers, having to deal with masses of other resellers (while having more potential buyers)? 2.) "...if only this was less expensive" While Sydney Opera House, Ewok Village and The Tower of Orthanc didn't sell too well, they all made remarkable sale jumps in double VIP time, from which one could conclude that people merely regard them too expensive instead of generally unattractive (while the sales of the two above-mentioned Movie sets did not profit from double VIP...) 3.) Red 5...4...3...2...1 The EOL run for Red 5 seems to be in full swing because sales pre-2xVIP and during 2xVIP were somewhat identical and surprisingly high (for the set itself and also in relation to other SW sets) 4.) Too much, too late The Exo Suit is selling pretty good, but LEGO has amassed way too much stock for a set that should have been retired one month ago - maybe they ordered that massive stock some time ago already and were not able to cancel it while realizing too late that demand was not keeping its high level (like at the introduction of the set) and so they would get way too many sets in the end. 5.) The "No-restockers" While most sets got restocked 1-4 times during the period, there were 5-6 exclusives that got no restock at all - all of which are sets that were already stocked in high numbers. If this is a hint for possible EOL, I don't know. Why there are some sets stocked in very high numbers and others in rather small numbers - I also don't know. It might be a question of production capacity or/and LEGO's EOL plan. 6.) Old vs. New Death Star and Sandcrawler sales seem to be OK to good and pretty much on par - potentially leading to two quite different views on the sets (Death Star being 6 years older...) 7.) London calling It seems like 3+ Tower Bridges are sold for every 1 Sydney Opera House. 8.) Duel of the necomers Slave 1 seems to have slightly outperformed the Detective's Office during 2x VIP looking at "sets sold per day (when in stock)". 9.) Investors' Nightmare One of the worst selling non-exclusive sets is B-Wing with about 1 ("one") sold set per day in March... 10.) PC or PR Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant look to be selling equally well, having quite similar stock numbers (during March) and having gotten 3 restocks both (in March).
