  1. Have you ever wondered "What would it be like if Jar Jar were to experience death each day all 365 of them in a single year?" then look no further than this currently ongoing project by Eurobricks member Dr Spock 888 over at his Flickr gallery. Jar Jar having a bad year NOTE: At the time of this posting date, it was on Day 99 so be sure to check back every other day at least once to see the new death of Jar Jar.

  5. I sold my last Falcon 7965 for $249 shipped. It wasn't the lowest price on eBay and the box had some damage, so who knows why it went within six hours of being listed. I was tempted to keep it, but just around $100 buy in said, "No, the next one coming will be more awesome."
  6. Sold my last 19 Chima Fire Bikes for $55.

I think anyone who's opened a Death Star realizes it can't go in a smaller box.
  8. There is an alternative for the best of both world's - Jurgen's Ultimate 42009... http://rebrickable.com/mocs/jurgen/ultimate-42009 I am in the process of gathering the parts needed. Or, you could go completely bananas : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99748
  9. Here's a very impressive Erebor MOC that was posted on eurobricks: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107924 He says the dwarf statues are larger than the Death Star 10188.

One could make a case for a pay BrickPicker site. Then again, one could think of many negatives to it as well. The idea of a premium pay portion of the site comes up in conversation constantly, but we don't want to hurt the basic dynamics of the site. As was the case with the NON-LEGO discussions, there comes a point where it can hurt the core user of the site. Many BrickPicker members are not vocal or big time resellers, so why cater to the vocal minority? There is no perfect solution. If you charge people, you might lose some important information from some members who use the site on a limited basis. If you charge, then people will expect more and complain more. That was the idea of the INVESTorSELL.com site. We saw there was an interest in the NON-LEGO products, but it was dominating the discussion board at times and was filled with adult oriented topics. The solution was to create another, less regulated site in which people could divert some of their discussions. Have you joined and contributed? I mean, afterall, we designed it for YOU! LOL

I'd rather collect minifigures than Skylanders. Anyone want to buy my son's Skylander collection?
  12. All for building with the kids... Used Dino HQ for $120. The latest City snowplow set for my Homer Simpson minifig. Lego Movie Bad Cop car. avengers set with the 2 vehicles (Thor and Hawkeye included) The Superhero set with Grodd and that Batman mech. I will be selling the mech as the set was purchased for everything else.
  13. Successful businesses don't make decisions based on making profit on every single decision they do - they base decisions on maximizing total profit. Cutting losses over sunk costs on a bad-selling set to make way for a better selling set is a strong business decision.
  14. Finished off the Silver Champion 8458 set tonight. Huge star Wars fan but I really like these F1 cars. http://community.brickpicker.com/index.php?/gallery/image/2088-silver-champion-8458/ All three of them.....now need to find a good place for them on the shelf.... http://community.brickpicker.com/index.php?/gallery/image/2089-f1-race-cars/

I'm supposed to believe that Lego is going to take a set in the last year of its life and repackage it, but leave the similar-sized and younger PC still in production in the big ol' box, because why exactly? This is more silliness. Toos status I trust as an indicator of retirement, whether in EU or stateside. But a sudden, inexplicable urge to repackage the PS? Give me a break.

  21. The steering IS jerky but I haven't found it reduces the playability of the machine for me... P.s. I am looking forward to terrorising the fiancee's cats with it once they are moved in.
  22. Ditto - I couldn't pass up this price for the build.
  23. What happens if you order something with free shipping & something that does not have free shipping, at the same time... does the web site explode?
  24. It's pretty straightforward. Most of the minifigures they have in the trade boxes are from build-a-minifigure or random thrown together parts, so i wouldnt expect much, but sometimes there are decent things. When The Simpsons first came out there were quite a few to be found. One weekend I got several classic castle minifigures so I guess someone's child was trading them throughout the park.
  25. The Easter Bunny dropped off this set last weekend.
  26. The Mk II Crane is a very good buy at $150 shipped from Amazon UK.
  27. How many people in your family? We just renewed our annual passes and got 5 complimentary passes as a perk. I can sell you however many you need and it'll save you a lot vs. the price at the door.
  28. So a Microfighters size Death Star is coming?!
  29. Agreed, this is absolutely ridiculous. Either you are part of this family or not. Don't try and live in both houses because eventually one of them won't let you back in. Brickpicker is much better community as well. We aren't trying to buy up every single deal on anything that ever was sold in a store. We are only here for LEGO. Let them have their crap and we will enjoy our LEGO.
  30. Thanks for the various answers. So, had I registered with Air Miles, I could have received an awesome $25 for the monstrous stack of Toys R Us orders from the past months! I don't regret putting in my mother's Air Miles number instead Still, that old Toys R Us promotion of "20x Air Miles" from last year meant some 9.5% discount then. That's not too bad if it stacks with something else.
  31. Prepare for a return with a bullethole through the box and a not as described case.....

  33. What about the Mine Ride or Blue Streak? ;-)
  34. I've been rebuilding a bunch of my girls' Lego friends that they demolished into the component bricks. Now that my oldest got the friends vet clinic for her birthday she sees the value in keeping the sets together to play with. I think it's pride of completing a build (mostly) by herself as well. She doesn't want it taken apart yet. My eyes are burning from the fluorescent greens, pinks and blues but they seem to love it. I'm still amazed at how my girls respond to these sets versus other "boys" sets. I think whenever this line goes EOL most of these sets will be gold. So I've rebuilt: Vet clinic Emma's horse trailer Puppy's playhouse Orangutan's (Moneky's) banana tree Still have Macaw's fountain and brown bear's cave to go and a few other miscellaneous sets to go. Pray that my retinas hold out. :D
  35. My only problem is I live too far from the border to drive. I might fly down every once in awhile but then I have to worry about paying extra baggage fees for carry ons for big sets. I'll be in Vegas in late June and plan to visit the new store they got there.
  36. I'm wishing for something like this.

  38. Sold a local Craigslist buy via an eBay auction. Large lot of Star Wars Minifigs and Kits. Paid $300 for this, auction closed at $493+shipping. I cleared about $150 for this sale, after fees.
  39. If they pay through PayPal and you print the label through PayPal you don't do anything but fill in the extra customs form right in PayPal. From Can to US you just have to declare value, describe, and give the weight of each item in the parcel.
  40. I LOVE the Brickfolio option on this site and have found it very, very useful. I wonder if there could ever be an option in the future to have two Brickfolios in the system: one for investing (as is currently) and one for the sets that I'm keeping personally. I already track the latter loosely, but being able to see which sets I'm spending my personal money (or profits) on, how many pieces I have, and what the actual used value of it is would be awesome. The obvious way that I can think to do this now is to create a second BrickPicker account and store all my "kept" sets there. But I know you guys keep track of accounts and Brickfolios and didn't want to screw up your numbers, because what I'd enter there wouldn't be strictly (or at all) for investment. Any chance this could be a coming feature?
  41. Boxing up takes up space. Dust or dings do not concern me and shouldn't for you either. Makes no difference on resell value. I often sell items in pairs, especially friends and city sets. Impossible to box up beforehand. What if a customer buys more then one item. All depends on your business model and how you do things.

  43. We can argue that smegal was a bit... well, weak minded compared to Bilbo (see the beginning of the return of the king, he looks really dumb), so the ring could have still some effects on him even once he didn't possessed it anymore. On the other side, once Bilbo gave his ring to gandalf, we can assume that his body and mind was able to be back to normal again, and so his face got back to normal (aged). Last theory: eat fish only (no sausage), and it'll keep you young and healthy !
  44. Box condition means very little if you can save $60 on an exclusive set in the US.
