A few weeks back, we posted a survey to help learn more about who the Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) is. Today I will be able to share those results with you in a nice illustrated format. Over the five day period, we received 579 replies and collected information from members at Brickpicker as well as help from other LEGO communities including Brickset, BrickFanatics and The Brick Fan. We would really like to thank them for helping to get the word out and collect data from different regions. It is a rather large graphic below and I tried to compress it has much as possible while keeping it looking nice. Let me know what your thoughts are and if you anything surprises you. I would like to thank TodorKolevDesign for designing the infographic. Please feel free to hire them if you need any illustrative work done. It was a pleasure to work with them.

I've been on an Atlantis kick. I bought a huge lot of 20+ used sets for about $140. As well as a NISB Portal of Atlantis for $55 and a NISB City of Atlantis for $90. I think I may have the whole theme now - lol. These are not for investment (that's probably obvious). My kids and I were watching some old Brickshow reviews and thought a lot of the sets were really cool (Portal of Atlantis and Angler Attack especially). New collectors should peruse some of the old forgotten themes. You can get some cool used stuff that no one else even thinks to looks for on Ebay auction. Also, completed my set of Dragon suit ninjago minifigs and my Vader minifig collection #allthevaders.

It makes sense, considering it's been around for a while and has relatively limited appeal compared to a DS or even Sandcrawler. I mean unless you're into very thorough reenactments of the Ewok Christmas special, which I am.

According to a Jurassic World Game Twitter account; this will be a pre-order bonus from Gamestop/EB Games: Neither site seems to have been updated to reflect this, but it's a pretty cool polybag imo, beats getting another duplicate of a similar character. Will likely pre-order a couple. It also seems to contradict the above images of the Bonus Dr. Wu, maybe different retailer pre-order bonuses, not sure.

This thread is for confirmed "Retired Product" status updates as per Lego.com official website. I decided to create this thread as somewhere to keep track of confirmed EOL dates as per Lego "Retired Product" tags. Leaving the other thread for rumors and speculation (I have been through all 75 pages and pulled any confirmed retirement dates in to here). The "Retired Product" status can be found on Lego.com by searching for "Retired Product", this link should take you there: http://search-en.lego.com/?q=Retired+Product&cc=US Yes a "Retired Product" tag does not mean the set cannot be found at other retailers, but it is an official confirmation that the set is EOL (End of Line) at Lego and that future production and sales have been halted (there may be some exceptions to this and we can never say Lego will never ever bring them back). I'd like to keep this list updated and populated with any changes, so please post them (for the US based Lego Shop at Home only please). Because the Lego.com site does not have a date when a set is retired I have used the latest stock availability date as recorded at Brickset.com. On the Lego site many sets get a "Sold Out" tag and/or a "retiring soon" tag, then at some arbitrary time they get a "Retired Product" tag. If we think about it, the actual date of retirement is the date it goes "out of stock" for the last time. As such I'd like to start capturing set's "Sold out" status dates as well, but that can be a phase 2 project. So for now if you spot a new "Retired Product" post it below. 2 x 10696 Medium Creative Box $20 from WM 3 x 76005 Daily Bugle $25 wm clearance. Hadnt seen these in this store in forever. They were really dusty and covered in stickers but the boxes were in good shape.

My reference to the small flat rate box is not about profit/loss but that it is EASY to ship and you can fill the form out online with USPS and be done with it. GSP is the way to go because the buyer pays all shipping fees and customs/import taxes up front, this USUALLY leads to a small increase for the buyer but I have been surprised to find that a few times, the shipping/import fee has been cheaper than I can offer on my own. If you use the GSP, then eBay takes care of customs for you and you limit your risk in the package getting lost or misplaced. There is an entire section on eBay about the GSP and I recommend that you read it as it is thorough. There is something wonderful about selling something to Europe, Asia, or Australia and simply dropping it off, postage paid, with no waiting, no paperwork, and no worries.

Haha. Everybody is zone 8 for me. But as mentioned above I add shipping to all my auctions but list as free shipping. That way it's covered by the seller. I still sell at my prices and make good profit. Just gotta know the weight and size limits in order to maximize profits. Grab free boxes when you can and order materials in bulk.

If you can fit it in a small flat rate box, you can ship cheaply to Europe but use the GSP if you aren't sure and let eBay take care of shipping it overseas and you are only responsible to get the package to Kentucky. Ex astris, scientia.

In my review of the set (hey, you should go read it!), I estimated that you could sell this set for over $1000 in 2016 and that it might reach $1500 in 2018. The first estimate looks like a sure thing.

So I have an opportunity to buy 10221 at $627 factory sealed. What do you think the price will be for this set during Christmas? What about another...year or two?

There are various color charts (keep in mind viewing on computers can cause some color alterations, too) but if you do have any hint of color blindness I'd get someone else to verify your findings. If it's on a pick a brick wall, it's going to be a current, not retired, color. That'll narrow the choices right there. If you can post good clear photos, folks here can likely tell you what you have.

Tracking all of this stuff into a database would be good for retrospect analysis to determine some policies. Restock frequency, at which stock levels do they restock, behaviour before retirement etc. Lots of possible information here for the good statistician. I say almost too much if we can build a database at least for a year. This type of data is really good. Ed is right. LEGO is giving away too much info if they allow us to do this.

Probably at some point. LEGO likes to keep its information to itself. This was probably a slip up by those affiliates.

I just got off the phone to several Myers and they have all told me the same thing. Take it as you will: Sydney City and Melbourne City are the only Myers that have the modulars, no other store received an allocation. Sydney only store with DO. PS all gone.

I have one of these for my personal collection but as others have suggested, I'm not stocking up on these. The less popular OT ships aren't doing anything in the aftermarket i.e. Gold Y Wing, A Wing. I believe this one will be the same way.

IMHO, the best TRU Thursday buy remains Birds 21301. I really am a fan of this set. With the TRUTH discount, cost is just under $40. The few times this wasn't stocked by Amazon Prime, it was a nearly $70 set, and it should go away sometime this fall. Bank on this going above $100 shortly after EOL, and I think $200 is possible on this one within 18 months. Easy to store and ship as well. 3-5X MSRP possible on this set, and I don't see a downside; it will never sell for below MSRP. *one other data point. The Lego Employee-exclusive xmas set this year was also a Birds collection. That sold easily in the $250-$300+ range (I recall a few $400+ sales early one). While the Lego employee exclusives always command a premium, this one was quite a bit above the norm. I think this was driven in part by the theme, which has huge AFOL and even non-AFOL appeal.

This is definitely a great one for the personal collector of Lego Star Wars. Very durable, movie accurate and bigger than I thought it would be for a smaller set. For investment I wouldn't be terribly hot on it, but a can't miss for a fan.

I think you looked too quickly. Graduating college was 35% and Graduate school was just below it at 25%, "some" graduate school was 5%. That means 65% of AFOLs have at least graduated college and another 20% might even be in the process of finishing.

I have a pile of these from last years speculative EOL. Every time I look at that stash I say to myself "some day you will make me lots of money". I should probably being buying more because once it goes, it's gonna be a fun ride.

I remember that morning. I was camping with the kids, trying to help them fish. I looked like a complete deadbeat Dad monitoring my iPhone for SSD availability while they struggled to cast and reel. I missed out on both the fishing and the SSDs that morning. I think Terry got 'em. I did end up scoring a few more later on but boy was I hooked on the SSD that summer.
