My first sale! Series 3 Gorilla Suit Guy $20 shipped. Found 16 Series 3 minifigures at my Target in Nov of last year for .06 each. Of those 16, two were this guy. Not a bad return in my opinion.6 points

Gratitude is something I need to work on so I'll give it my best try here: Thanks to edgecrusher for the heads up on a Death Star. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13718-daily-lego-deals-3252015/?p=443498 Thanks to 33Lego for the heads up on Ewok Village at TRU. I had some TRU rewards expiring and a gift card to burn. Timing was perfect. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13718-daily-lego-deals-3252015/?p=443787 Thanks to Quacs for helping me sell a Mobile Heavy Cannon. Thanks to minicoopers11 for answering my questions on International Shipping. And a very special thank you to Legodog and Bold-Arrow for recent trades. I had the pleasure to meet both of these guys in person. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and just overall good guys. This should come as no surprise to everyone but I wanted to make sure they were recognized for their willingness to help others and to also work a trade that was a win-win for both parties. I'm starting to feel part of the community here and it's great to have resources like these fine gentlemen to help me get my small business rolling. I couldn't do any of this without Brickpicker. -BrickLegacy4 points

Let me put it this way - if you have $500 to blow on a toy then an extra $1500 is not going to be worth alot to you. I don't think I am unique with my budget of $10k-$20k per year for my personal toy collection. If I needed a Town Hall I would not baulk at paying $2k for it if that was the cheapest available. I think we are long past the point of Town Hall being bought by those scraping by financially.3 points

Those who cannot afford a high priced collectible were priced out many months ago so I don't see that as being an issue going forward. At least for me there is no difference spending $500 or $2000 on a collectible. I either have the money to be wasteful or I do not. I don't see a price stall until much higher. Just MO.3 points

I bought three 60057 Camper Vans that were on clearance at Target for $9.98 each, marked down from $19.99. I don't normally invest in City, but for 50% off I thought what the hell.3 points

my next project is the market street. But I have to let the dust settle with my wife for at least a month. Since Christmas I've done the two brickbuilds, bought the entire pirates line, bricklinked the blue conversion for the brick bounty, bought my daughter the elves tree house and all the 2015 princess sets , the valentines and Easter set and detectives office. And that's all for personal build. My chequing acct is in shambles. Also the tax-man cometh soon.2 points

Man I wish I could find that picture of someone on here who was going after a Craigslist lot that had the Town Hall displayed on an ironing board.2 points

With a budget of $10k-$20k a year, I think you're in the top 5% of this community. Mine is around $2k, if that. Don't get me wrong. I'm not hating on you, just jealous.2 points

Buy! $40 off retail is a no brainer, this set is a winner in my opinion. Smaug goes for around $60 right now alone.2 points

Neither do I. I'm on the slow-accumulation plan. As an Ideas set, I'm expecting the normal 9 month +/- lifetime, EOL perhaps sometime this fall.2 points

Too many people tend to compare everything to exclusives where they tend to get 2x value right after it's EOL. Well, this is the only true exclusive in the LOTR/Hobbit line. But not everything is a HH, or SSD. Ive beaten this horse a few times now, but I really think the ToO, The LM, HD, & UG are going to be the "premiere sets" where you will get about 3x above retail a couple years from now. I also think Shelobs attacks, Council of Elrond, Wizard Battle, Black Gate, Mines of Moria, and Lake Town Chase have potential to go in the 2x to 3x range. Shelob is already in the 2x range. The pirate ship ambush is a weird one... i'm not sure how that one will go, but lately it seems to be popping at retail rates on ebay, and I just scarfed a few of those below retail last month when I stumbled onto them at clearance in a walmart. So, that set has yet to truly go dry yet (you can still get them in various TRU's), but it might also have potential, and it's one of the last LOTR sets you can still find at retail, other than the ToO, and perhaps the Black Gate. But have no fear with the tower. I really do think it's going to do very well. Now, if they will only take that one "Ideas" concept of the Minas Tirith that's currently under review and make it into an exclusive, before they retire this line, i'd be absolutely jazzed about what this series produced. I personally, don't hate on the Mines of Moria, and some of the other sets. I think they did a good job, considering they presented a range of price points for sets, and a variety of sets. Not everything was a castle, but there are a few good castle type sets in this series. I think it's a good line.2 points

About the only hobby I enjoy more than Lego Investing is sports cars. And I only recently realized that my Lego collection would trade for a very nice Corvette. That thought has had me awake at nights.2 points

Yes! I made the last of my BL orders this afternoon, for both The Ghost and Voltron. As soon as I get the parts, I'll do the builds and post pics up.2 points

Thanks for the suggestions! I think my husband thinks I'm a little too into Lego. It didn't help that when we were out, I mentioned that I thought a woman we saw had minifig hair2 points

Alright everyone so I finally finished my $400 ucs millennium falcon (10179) and boy it was by far one of the most stressful builds that I've ever done, But the end result was worth it lol and it was only missing a handful of pieces, the Han solo and Chewie minifgs as well as the stickers so I definitely lucked out! Now All I have to do is inventory and build the ucs Batmobile (7784) that the seller threw in for free with the falcon2 points

Starts Friday. I'll keep going with a new thread for now until we decide if we want to merge or whatnot. Thanks to Stragus we already anticipated this, but now it's official Make sure to use CineplexHoliday on any order over $40 online, i believe this will be the last sale to use it(?). If you have any 7965's left, now is a good time to get em. At %20 off even an inflated price tag of $199 - there's still money to be made even if you turn around and sell it same day. Edit: This is assuming 7965 is actually included in the sale, it was for the previous sale, so i'm assuming it will be.1 point

I doubt these will hit 50% off at TRU unless they buy a stockpile from LEGO. It's more likely they will be stocked sparingly and just disappear from retail shelves by the end of the year. I would be surprised if LEGO overproduces this set since retailers have had little stock and many have already dropped it from their planogram. Here's what we know so far: Target - available on their website but virtually gone from retail stores Walmart - OOS on their website and very HTF at retail stores TRU - in stock online and at retail but above MSRP LEGO - in stock online but being discounted and likely phased out at retail stores1 point

I thought about selling my 6211 for a new 75055 ISD, but changed my mind after seeing a comparison video. While the 75055 seems to be a sturdier build, mine is for display only. So I decided to add a little to the sides. What do you think? Comments/suggestions?1 point

If it is parts that you are looking for - use Bricklink. If you feel a bit uncertain, just stick with the larger, more experienced sellers there (they will have more parts for sale anyway).1 point

Amazon UK currently has Bennys Spaceship for about AU$100 shipped. Not as good as Big W price but still very good, they should make you some money come Christmas time.1 point

Research on kids with behavioral problems discusses iatrogenic effects (group treatment with other kids with behavioral problems can increase the problematic behavior). If this holds true for AFOLs, I should probably reduce my time on brickpicker. On the other hand, how can it be bad for you when it feels so good?1 point

I really hope so. Not sure but what would I like (not what I will get) - R5 retires by October or sooner, R2 gets a big role in Episode VII, Movie Launches, 1 week after movie launch: SSD @ $1,250 each. R2 at $750 each. R5 at $500 each. I know I am dreaming but we can all have dreams can't we? LOL1 point

Sale supposedly starts tomorrow - I guess we'll find out tomorrow morning for sure, but the flyer confirms Stragus' most excellent find. I like the sorting and building of bulk lots if most of the pieces are present. If not, I can only sort and most of the time, I can't build.1 point

3D, HFR, maturation of the international market, 15 years of inflation, decline of civilization... all factors in this. I blame 50 shades of gray.1 point

Actually this argument makes sense and in economics it's called cannibalization. These cars are close substitutes in LEGO's palette, therefore it might be a reasonable assumption that the average consumer is almost indifferent between them. Imagine that T1 and F40 both sell very well, but most people only buy one of them. If the majority who face this choice would buy the F40 if there is no T1 (rather than not buying anything at all) then LEGO can do better with retiring the T1 so it could spare the production cost of multiple products (more parts). In this situation the T1 is devouring would-be sales of the F40, making it an in-house competitor. Cannibalization might also (partly) explain the retirement of TH and R2 as well. It is not in the interest of LEGO to fragment demand too much across its products since it inflates costs and the benefits of cancelling production can outweigh the loss of some marginal sales.1 point

Would have been better (cooler) to have a LotR chess set. They did miss that opportunity.1 point

I blame Brickpicker for encouraging me in spending more money on Lego than any other novelty ....and I haven't been happier. Who needs such frivolities to waste time and cash on like beer to 'get high' when there is another set in the closet waiting to be built? So many bricks, so little time.1 point
