  1. I've been calling all the major retailers and asking them to delete their Death Star listings, as no product with 'Death' in the name is appropriate for kids, and products with 'Star' in the name encourage unwholesome pagan astrological practices. Or so my argument goes. With any luck, Lego will feel the pressure and publicize the retirement date, as they did in the 9516 controversy. Here's hoping!

  3. Thanks for the heads up. Now I am currently involved in winning an auction for a complete 2005 edition #10144 Star Wars Jawa Sandcrawler on ebay.

  4. What you're all seeing now is "The dance". Not all sets do this, but once the horde has the scent of EOL on a highly thought of set, it becomes F5 situation. F5 being the refresh key on your browser. Folks hitting refresh over and over to try to find the item available at retail because they dissappear so quickly even alerts won't notice the in-stock moment. R5 is Red Five, which folks thought was Red Alive, but might be Dead Five, it's at the very least F5 for R5. Catch that jive?

  5. They told me there were 1,138 left and then asked me if I was a reseller. Makes me feel like this guy being proded by the LEGO police:

  8. People mention all the time that they charge a handlng fee on orders. It annoys me to know end, but never seems to keep me from using a store for parts. I'm more interested in a fair price for a particular part, as long as it's a reasonable handling fee - e.***., if a particular part if 50 cents from you, and the average price is 10 cents, I'm less likely to order that part from you. But, if you're charging $1 or $2 for a handling fee, I'm more likely to order from you. Yes, I realize that's counter-intuitive, and now that I've written that out, I'm going to have to reexamine how I'm buying stuff. lol

  9. Even more stuff added to WM's clearance. Not much of note, Olivia's house and Black Gate might be decent buys considering they are on their way out the door: http://www.walmart.ca/en/toys/construction-blocks-sets/lego/******-32+2386+1019588 Also Tie Fighter listing back? I seriously doubt they had any stock of it, it seems like it took us a year to get some of these listing to be taken down, and now surprise! they're back! Wizard Battle at $10 isn't bad either.

  10. Well I looked the set up on Amazon.com and there are many sets between 150-200$. I just think you were lucky with that sale from a clueless buyer. So it will take more time to reach 200$

  11. I love the movie as much as my kiddo and I am 47. It is great. I play it in the office even if by myself...

  12. I only partially agree that the movie was for kids. Have you seen it? There is an AFOL element there for sure.

  13. Don't mention paypal as being a reason for additional charge. That is against paypal's TOS for USA sellers.

  14. OK, I was sticking to my price point and I declared I wouldn't sell a 9468 - Vampyre Castle for less than $200. Well, I just sold one for $200 on EBay. Join me, raise your prices folks!!!

  15. Use coupon code 44461 online. Expires Nov 29th. It worked for me for boxes, kraft paper, tape, and shipping label pouches. So it seems to work for just about all shipping supplies. Stock up for the holiday rush!

  19. That is one of the best benefits for me when I buy Lego off CL. After a long stressful day, I can sort/build some of the set from the lot and it relieves a lot of my stress.

  22. I saw the Tie Fighter in stock but completely overlooked it (412 parts for $40, meh). It turns out each one has 12 highly valuable parts, in extremely high demand. They are worth half the sale price alone! I was already wasting too much time running numbers through my part pricing AI, sets were disappearing fast... at 4am. Some people have monitoring software even crazier than mine (and mine can wake me up at night!).

  23. Nice catch! Last 2 TH's i managed to order were cancelled a couple months ago. I'll keep my eye on it, but i don't have high hopes. If it was available it was likely picked up at 4:00am like Stragus said. Tie at $40 would have been nice too.. Town Hall is lumped around items that are in stock... it might have actually been in stock at some point. Usually once OOS for a while their listing goes to the bottom of the list with the rest of the OOS items, darnit. Theres' also a bunch of old items popping back (Lone Ranger Stuff, Heartlake Pet Salon, Spongebob Dutchman). Which makes the Pharaohs Quest set appearing the other day make sense haha.

  25. ToK .. While you're at it, why not come up with a way to modify the crappy stand that comes with the Slave 1 to display the minifigs? I think TLG continually misses the mark with the stands for the UCS models. The only one I'm happy with to date is the R2D2 stand because it has a place for the R2 minifig. Displaying the Slave 1 on the stand means that there is no display space for the Bespin Guard and Stormtrooper (and possibly Han in carbonite). I'll probably tackle it after spring break when we setup another detolf cabinet to display our latest builds.

  33. Then I wouldn't sweat it, if that works for you. Forgot to mention, the most entertaining and harsh disclaimers have got to be on Bricklink. Can't make this up: 1. By placing an order, you agree to not file a Paypal Chargeback. 2. We are not responsible for your package once it is in the hands of the courier.

  34. Love this set...saved one unopened for my collection. Great value for retail price and sold very well/quickly in CAN after cleared out from stores. I don't like the new chess set as much.

  40. I developed a method while applying stickers to the ISD. I use tweezers. I am guessing the oil from hands is what is causing some stickers to let go after years. This also allows me to "slide" the sticker into place on one edge and lift if it's crooked or not centered since no pressure has been applied. Using this swipe method my stickers look fantastic and hopefully will stay in place. One other tip, always grab the sticker on the longest side and line up the opposite side. Grabbing the short side means more wiggle room for a crooked application. I'm no expert, just passing along what seems to work for me. Maersk ship will be the true test. I imagine stickers will take longer than building it. And I am dreading the big UCS sticker later on :/

  41. Well I did it finally. Making the arm and leg lions were easy when I figured those out but the main torso was a pain in the ass aside from the obvious bits. Trying to decipher anything made out of black is always difficult. Anyway here is what I recreated in LDD. The entirety of Voltron uses 137 parts (or 138 if you include the 'flame blade'). Everything uses small parts so acquiring them should be easy if not a little repetitive. Only thing annoyingly tricky is getting certain angles in LDD but in real life it is very poseable. 42. At LEGOLAND California they have one built in the store window, with a little bit of an MOC of the ocean underneath that really makes it look good. I'm working on recreating that look for the one I will be building. Here are some pics

  43. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/11427-shop-at-home-offers-october-2014/?view=findpost&p=357511 Anyone looking to order a bunch from shop at home and stay under the radar please take a look at my post from this past October. This was the last time they ran double VIP, but they also were giving away the free elves workshop as an additional promo. I ordered one exclusive every day for the entire month with no penalty or suspicion of being a reseller. I received a bunch of VIP points which I cashed into two ewok villages, as well as 30 of the elves workshops that I should be able to sell for $20-$25 each this coming Christmas or next based on past history. My point is, you don't need to blow your load in one order. Spread it out. Be smart about it. Don't order the same set two days in a row. Wait for your previous order to go into "shipped" status before placing your next order. I know that buying is fun, and sometimes you feel like if I don't get it all now I will miss out. The sets will be there. It's not worth the risk. There seems to be a lot of new members lately asking questions regarding the banning process. The questions are being answered, but it feels like some are not listening to or taking the solid advice being given. This advice is not an opinion. It has all been learned from past mistakes. If you want to test the waters then go ahead, but don't be surprised if the ban hammer falls.
