  1. At LEGOLAND California they have one built in the store window, with a little bit of an MOC of the ocean underneath that really makes it look good. I'm working on recreating that look for the one I will be building. Here are some pics
  2. Yeah I fixed it. I'm currently taking English classes at HXkid University I sit next to emazers....it's not working out so well ;)
  3. This set has unintentionally become a running gag without even trying. Thank you LEGO for this golden opportunity!
  4. Thanks for not taking this further into the gutter. Or around the corner behind the bushes.
  5. No I was not in Love with the Town hall but I do have 18 of them.
  6. My girlfriend makes stained glass fan art stuff, ... i thought id share this because its pretty amazing, i love star wars and this is so sweet, she rocks! shes doing boba fett next, so stoked.
  7. Sold 4 of these in the last day (64, 65, 66, 66) on ebay bin free shipping. Going to wait a week or two for the price to go up some more before selling more. Luckily I went deep (for me) on these when they were going for 27.99. My wife thought this was going to be a total stinker which makes its success even sweeter. This set will make it to $100 by xmas.
  8. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. You rock. I'm not too picky on where we eat, as long as I get to watch my Badgers play at the same time.
  9. It's right on International Drive just down from the Convention Center. If you like wings/fingers and cheese fries, I recommend the Zinger Mountain Melt. This won't be in the nutrition thread.
  10. Technic 8110 Unimog on EBay - $320 shipped. Is this the start of something good, or the end?

I feel the same way when I buy groceries.
  12. I found the builder showing off that Voltron design in a video here. All four 'lion limbs' are the same I think and I am guessing the body frame is similar to his other mech ones so maybe I can figure something out in Digital Designer to recreate it.
  13. The price guide has been updated. Looks like it was a good month for people with Harry Potter in their Brickfolio.
  14. 10188 Death Star for $275 with postage. Sealed bags but in a heavily damaged.

    Our haul today...
  16. Thanks for the tip. Tonight we are going to see the Blue Man Group, so we plan on eating somewhere near that. Our hotel is right by DTD though, so we will check out Miller's sometime over the next few days.
  17. Have fun, hit Miller's Tap House if you're looking for a good place to eat. It's not what you think by the name. It's a nice sit-down restaurant too.
  18. We are in Orlando for vacation. We stopped by the lego store at downtown Disney and I picked up my first Lonely Mountain. They were on sale for $104 and I had a 10% off one item coupon that stacked, along with earning double VIP for a future purchase. Came out to around $100 after tax. They had two more out for sale. Possibly more in the back. The kids picked out a bunch of Friends and Minecraft sets.
  19. Sold my last Destiny's Bounty for 180 euro excl. shipping. Bye bye! It was a pleasure having you!
  20. Well I did it finally. Making the arm and leg lions were easy when I figured those out but the main torso was a pain in the ass aside from the obvious bits. Trying to decipher anything made out of black is always difficult. Anyway here is what I recreated in LDD. The entirety of Voltron uses 137 parts (or 138 if you include the 'flame blade'). Everything uses small parts so acquiring them should be easy if not a little repetitive. Only thing annoyingly tricky is getting certain angles in LDD but in real life it is very poseable. 21. Can't we all just agree that the high days of lego investing are behind us? Too many competition and too many competitors selling for "small" profit? Patience has died slowly and painfully. If sets were less hoarded and hoarders would hoard acceptable amounts of a set this all would not happen. Looking at how many 8110's are available still on ebay makes my head spin. You can even find the 8110 in toyshops at RRP if you want. Nobody buys them. There are just too many hoarded for a niche market. I am generally a patient guy. I do not go out and sell my Town Halls already cause I can more than double my investment. I will wait patiently till it becomes rare. But, like Biniou said, for the Unimog to become rare it can still take a year or two. And than he is right. Better to put your money elsewhere. What I have learned lately is that when people here say set X will do good cause the previous one from years ago was a success I will pass. Cause everyone will jump on it like flies. Lego investing is about buying cheap and wait patiently for it to grow. But if a set is overhoarded you can wait like forever.
  22. It was just a generalisation based on personal opinion of course. There are obviously people who are going for the figs which is understandable. However I believe that the majority is going for the vehicle. Most people don't even realise that the figs are supposed to be special, they are just a Batman and a Joker to complement the set. We are avid fans who know the sets to little details, even before release. Then Average Joe walks into the LEGO Store: "LOL Tumbler cool". That's it.
  23. I'm not concerned. This ship is awesome. I don't think anyone is buying it for the minifigs. The imperial flagship has all generic minifigs and is doing fine.
  24. Sold a Millenium Falcon 4504 built from a Craigslist Lot. Complete with minifigs, 3 parts substituted, no box or manual. $135 via eBay.

  26. I LOVE the Brickfolio option on this site and have found it very, very useful. I wonder if there could ever be an option in the future to have two Brickfolios in the system: one for investing (as is currently) and one for the sets that I'm keeping personally. I already track the latter loosely, but being able to see which sets I'm spending my personal money (or profits) on, how many pieces I have, and what the actual used value of it is would be awesome. The obvious way that I can think to do this now is to create a second BrickPicker account and store all my "kept" sets there. But I know you guys keep track of accounts and Brickfolios and didn't want to screw up your numbers, because what I'd enter there wouldn't be strictly (or at all) for investment. Any chance this could be a coming feature?
  27. Crawler 4x4 $260 Damage Box Helicarrier $400 (these are great on double points time $50 extra points and $35 Double points = $85 off) 30 more crater creepers for $220 $280 retail galaxy squad lot for $190 (bought all at 50-70 off)
  28. that was my hometown for a long time lol. Used to go there once a week for MNF. That particular location is by far the coolest. When we go back every few months we stay at the Hilton Orlando right there so its a nice short walk. Hilton Bonnet Creek near Disney is nice too. Both have a lazy river which you can have your beer in so that is a plus!
  29. Yes, TGT is Target. I was wondering if I would ever find this set on sale as well. Use the Target tracker on this site. http://www.brickpicker.com/target-inventory/ DPCI: 086-14-2474
  30. Darn it will you guys stop making me hungry!!!!
  31. No one will be interested because when they launch the updated steam punk pirate ship in a few years no one will care about this. (It isn't just about TLM) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app
  32. Glad I am the site joke now.
  33. This was me at the casino a few nights ago. Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Brickpicker mobile app
  34. I guess my point isn't that the minifigure aren't great (they are), it's that most people aren't buying these sets for the minifigures (per GhostDad's initial question - will demand to Sea Cow be limited because DDC has similar minfigures?). Secondary market buyers will buy the Tumbler because it is an awesome, challenging build with a kick-arse final model. The minifigures are a nice bonus, not the main event. I wholeheartedly agree both of these minifigures are great, just like Sea Cow's minifigures, especially Vitruvius, QueasyKitty and the mini-MetalBeard.
  35. Wonder if GE is benefiting from being a corner building? Interesting to see both GE and FB currently have the same part out value of $387. Supplies of GE are less than FB right now as well. GE is only $40 behind FB for NISB. Last corner building was CC but there are far more modular collectors now. Wondering if we will see GE overtake FB in 2016? Given that GE was supposedly the most hoarded modular ever it looks to be performing very well.

While bargain hunting I ran across a few Mountain Huts (31025) at a Wally World for $25. I didn't realize they could be had online for $30 pretty easily, so I scooped them up. I won't be returning them, but WOW this set is HEAVY for the box size. 550 pieces in a $40 package, it feels like a brick when you pick it up. Probably the most "dense" set (non-Arch) I've ever come across.
  37. Scenario for the biggest technic sets: 1. a set is released on year XXXX for $200 2. you buy it on year XXXX + 2 with 20-30% off 3. on year XXXX + 3 it's sold-out/retired, the price rises quickly up to RRP 4. on Xmas of year XXXX + 3 you resell it 20% above RRP (or higher if the set performs well) and so on. So overall about 35% ROI within a year (considering fees). Typical for technic sets (sets with RRP more than $80, little technic sets sold less than $20 are bad investments, because low profits and a waste of time IMO).
  38. Yeah I don't really see the point in investing in Technic. Sure if you love the theme then by by all means buy, but with the size of some of these sets plus the slow growth I just think there are way better places to put your money.
  39. I sold my first 4x4 for 260
  40. Just out of curiosity, are there any exclusives that you don't think will be winners? I'm not saying I agree/disagree with your assessment, I'm just wondering.
  41. When people see a Tumbler they are "wow, Tumbler" not "wow, Heath Ledger". The fig is a valuable addition, but not the strongest point of the set.
  42. I'd probably grab a couple more Mammoths at $40, just because. We have one, that my Son has battles with. I do have a couple extra Flying Phoenix, but I'm watching some Wal-Marts nearby that have them stocked heavy, but still marked $89.
  43. I don't think many would buy this set for the minifigures, just like you wouldn't buy Tower of Orthanc, the Tumbler, or the Helicarrier for the minifigures. They are bonuses, not the main show. They also are different variants, so TLM minifigure collectors will still need both sets' minifigures.
  44. Since Amazon no longer offers personalized gold box deals, I am unpinning this thread.
  45. You guys know how to run an economy and take care of your fellow citizens. Wish it was more like that here! I am glad to hear not everyone thinks only of cheapest price, but also concern for their neighbors, whether you know them or not. It is such a rare thing to even find a family owned shop here anymore, though this was not the case just 20 years ago when I was a child. I even remember some of my first experiences buying lego in a local owned store. There is so much more joy and wonder in it than going into a huge big box store, the employees are happier, more knowledgable and the experience just does not even compare. We have really lost something here these last few decades and I am so happy to know it still exists somewhere. And not surprised it exists in one of the strongest, and most equitable economies in the world.
  46. I bought a large bin of 80s Lego on CL for ~$80(US) I have identified the following sets: 6392 Airport 5180 Runway Base Plates (T and Cross) 7710 - Push along passenger steam train 7735 - DB Freight Train 7856 - Left and right 12v switches 7857 - 12v Crossing track 7863 - 12v Remote Control 7864 - 12v Transformer 7865 - 12v motor 7867 - 12v Lighting standards 4005 - Tugboat I am still looking through the rest for 7866 and there are about 5-10 other smaller sets. These are in good-excellent condition and should be complete and will keep me busy for the next month.
  47. Right turns come at a premium these days
  48. I keep the first set I buy for myself - that makes things a whole lot more simple!
