  1. I am extremely excited to announce my new book, "The LEGO Architect" will be published later this year by the awesome team at No Starch Press. The book explores popular architectural styles like Neoclassical, Art Deco, Modernism, Brutalism, Postmodernism, and High-tech architecture through LEGO. The cover features an amazing LEGO model of Unit

The game is rumoured to be in development at Travellers Tales and is due for release sometime later this year. LEGO is an extremely lucrative brand so this should provide some real competition to what

  4. Dropped everything and drove 100 miles to pick up this lot off Craigs List for $200. 32 large trays/bins presorted parts. Just tons of stuff. Knew this would be a great purchase, and told the seller I'd take it at the asking price, and offered to pay via paypal. Told me to just pay in person, so decided to make the drive this evening to not miss out. Here's the confirmed kits I've found so far, and this is scratching the surface. There's many more star wars and technic kits in here, I'll put up a pic of the whole lot shortly. 9398 Crawler 8043 Excavator 4504 Millenium Falcon 8071 Lift Truck 3804 Robotic Invention System 8527 Mindstorms NXT 2.0 3367 Space Shuttle

  5. From my 15 hour road trip throughout 2 states... So everyone knows about a week ago or so I strategically started checking the Walmart's for inventory via the mobile app. I ordered a lot online for pickup, some cancelled, some adjusted quantity and many ok for pickup and i concentrated on Walmart's that would be on a specific route that I was focused on a specific corridor of Interstates and what would work in that corridor... I actually with the exception of the 34 Lego brick boxes found NOTHING at any of the Walmart's that I did not already pre order. Of the 8 Walmarts I went in most every one of them was in major wind down mode on clearance. There were a few good non Lego toys but I literally had my mini van stuffed to the gills including the passenger seat up front to the ceiling along with the 2nd row and the rest of the van. For me with this trip, I consider the non online clearance hunting season over. My haul was as follows: Combination of Walmart's, Fry's, Meijer's Toys R Us and Lego Stores: - 9 Benny's @ $54 Walmart - 2 Lion Chi Temple @ $35 Walmart - 25 Transformers Stomp and Chomp Grimlock at $8.50 and $17 Walmart - 2 Ewok village at MSRP and double points Lego - 1 Death Star at MSRP and double points Lego - 10 Lonely Mountains 1 at Meijer $97ish, 5 @ 97ish Toys R Us price matching Meijer receipt (I asked them told them upc code on receipt, meijer has a sale, will they match or prefer not to, is there a limit and they said sure honey we match and there is no limit) and 4 from Lego on sale with double points - 34 Lego 10695 @ $20 each Walmart - 1 Lord Business Lair @ $52 Fry's - 1 Arctic Base Camp at $45 Walmart Plus a few other misc things... And some good times visiting some good friends at some of the stores along the way... Many people read books, many people watch TV or got to Movies, for me this hobby is my stress relief so it was a great day and the time investment could have been spent doing other things yes but its my books, movies, etc stress reliever for me.

  7. Most of the BrickPickers hold onto their VIP points until off double-VIP periods. You are basically taking 5% off your savings if you use your VIP points during the promotion period.

  8. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/11427-shop-at-home-offers-october-2014/?view=findpost&p=357511 Anyone looking to order a bunch from shop at home and stay under the radar please take a look at my post from this past October. This was the last time they ran double VIP, but they also were giving away the free elves workshop as an additional promo. I ordered one exclusive every day for the entire month with no penalty or suspicion of being a reseller. I received a bunch of VIP points which I cashed into two ewok villages, as well as 30 of the elves workshops that I should be able to sell for $20-$25 each this coming Christmas or next based on past history. My point is, you don't need to blow your load in one order. Spread it out. Be smart about it. Don't order the same set two days in a row. Wait for your previous order to go into "shipped" status before placing your next order. I know that buying is fun, and sometimes you feel like if I don't get it all now I will miss out. The sets will be there. It's not worth the risk. There seems to be a lot of new members lately asking questions regarding the banning process. The questions are being answered, but it feels like some are not listening to or taking the solid advice being given. This advice is not an opinion. It has all been learned from past mistakes. If you want to test the waters then go ahead, but don't be surprised if the ban hammer falls.

  11. Seller re-listed the item either because the previous buyer didn't pay, or he just wanted to scam some more people. This time it looks like my report worked as the listing was deleted. I also no longer see the sellers account. Victory!

  12. Set Name: Grand Carousel Set Number: 10196 Theme: Creator, Expert, Exclusive, Sculptures Years Available at Retail : 2009 to 2011 Retaile Price: $249.99 # of Elements: 3,263 # of Minifigs: 9 Introduction : Based on 2009 threads I've read, the set was released to mixed reviews. However, 10196 has aged very well, became an AFOL favortie, and is now among the most expensive sets to purchase. I waited nearly 2 years before finally finding a 10196 that was a "decent" deal (meaning combination of price and condition) Box and Instructions: The box is about the same size as the Ewok Village and recent modular buildings. It measures out to 18.80" x 22.80" x 3.50". The Lego art design dept. did a wonderful job with this one. There are many pictures of the set on the box in "play fashion". One of the more interesting pictures is the one that show exposed elements under the rooftop tent. 2 Instructions booklets are included. Elements: Lego included 25 main bags of elements. 10196 contains 4 "still exclusive to this set" elements plus Power Functions, it is critical to find the "right" set. The exclusive elements are the sound brick, 48x48 green base plate, 8 tan beards and 8 white cloth pirate sails that are used at the rooftop tent. This is one set where it doesn't make much sense to piece it together (aka "bricklink it") as the cost of used elements before postage fees totals around the same price it sells for used. The sails are usually sold in pairs and in lots of 4 or 8 (usually still listed at $80-$100 each per sail) For more pictures, information, and pricing about elements, please refer to

  13. Right. Them speculating about retirements is no different than all people here running their mouth about knowing what sets are retiring. I do agree however they should just stick to reviews which is what they do best.

Just a few days later on March 20, Rita's Italian Ice is giving customers a free Italian Ice to mark the first day of Spring. Grab some, on your way too/from work, or if you're on a toy run. Take the kids, let them run a muck.

  17. A cautionary tale... If new, accept the advice of the Senior members here. LEGO Shop at Home does not screw around on this issue. I made- what I thought- was an incredibly "clever" play, ordering 12 Grand Emporium's over 5 different cards at, more or less, the same time. Here is how committed TLG is to not allowing this to happen. ALL sets posted, tracked, and got as far as the FedEx distribution center eleven miles from our home in Southern California. This was August of last year. At this point, the shipments were STOPPED, and all sent back to their warehouse. All cards banned, along with our shipping address. They ate some tremendous shipping costs to stop me from doing what I knew better not to. Accept the advice, and respect what they're doing... cross the line and you're toast.

  19. It was extremely tight. A 2010 sized (before they started shrinking them) mini van. Grimlocks were going up my right arm in the passenger seat to the ceiling and behind my head all the way up. LOL I was worried about the last batch of Grimlocks at the end. It barely fit but if I had gotten 2 more exclusives I would have been in trouble LOL

  22. negative. It's not available within any Barnes and nobles within 4 States of me, yes States . I did go to many lego stores and Barnes and nobles this weekend. In my honest opinion, this is the best investment set on the table. for many factors other then the obvious. Easy to ship easy to store etc etc. Coupons? I'm trading ucs sets for more fw and buying above msrp. That's how high I am on it. If Amazon didn't have limits I'd have over 100.

AND now GONE from amazon.com finally. There are still quite a few in my local B&****** stores but this one might finally be headed out.

  31. Here is what I use for a basic sorting system: $1.99 trays from IKEA with extra small and large drawers from the Stack Ons. I bought 30 of the various Stack On cabinets off Craigslist from a cell phone repair company to go with the others we buy from AMZ, KM, or whoever is cheapest at the moment. And yes, I'm parting out 48 Glomps from S3 Mixels. Leftovers from the Merry Meijer Mixel fest over the holidays. At <$1 each I was willing to part them out.

  33. Ok, the full January 2014 and February 2014 is now available. Over the next 1-2 days I will continue to comb through it and look for issues/misses/etc. That happens everything month. I have also pushed updated brickfolio code that will now allow those of you outside the USA to select one of the 3 other available datasets to base your brickfolio on. (GBP, EURO, AUD) Just click the Change Currency button on the main Brickfolio dashboard page and it will allow you select the dataset. I just ask for a little patience still with this as every update we look for inconsistencies with the data from these other regions. Trying to find issues with over 10,000 sets takes time. You find some here, there, etc. Anyhow, let me know how it goes. If you find major errors, please send me a PM. Thanks Jeff

  39. The DO has yet to be in stock at that price. I'm wondering if they'll adjust it upwards when they finally do stock it. Either way I'd prefer to buy at LEGO Shop at Home for points and promos and boxes that are much less likely to arrive with dents.

  48. I haven't been here long but from what I gather information misinformation ect on availability to save a lot headache just grab the sets you want to invest in in enough time that availability isn't a problem. Pet shop may or may not be on its way out but When I purchased mine I figured rather be safe than sorry since this is a set I really want to set aside. Sometimes I think we get caught up in things that really have a simple solution. Your probably not going time every EOL set perfectly or get every winner. Make your choices and work on your plan to get your end amount you want

  49. I have sold all of my 7965 Falcons (had five left) over the past two weeks. Each one sold for $220 plus $18 shipping. I paid between $80-$100 for each one, so I'm happy with the profits. They may continue to rise, but I don't want to take that gamble with the new version coming soon. One note...I received a lot more traffic and sold three of the five after I included the mis-spelled version of "millennium" in my title (milennium). This trick was mentioned somewhere on here last week, but I don't remember which thread. I changed my listing title after I read that and it seemed to make a difference.
