I have been big on this set since it was released. It's so unique I don't see how it can't do well long term, especially at a $25 buy in. If I am wrong then I want someone to flatten me with a steam roller, Austin Powers style.

They go hand in hand. Any person who has built any sort of city scape will always want one of these. The first being out of reach for most will drive demand for the mixer. And everyone knows there is always an Ecto 1 parked at the fairgrounds, so having either one of these sets drives demand for Slimer and company. It;s really just simple math mixeled with fresh cotton candy. How many times have you seen a SSD parked out front at the fair? Exactly....

When you call eBay customer service, complain (constructively) about the automatic defect registering when a buyer chooses "I haven't received my item" to send you a message about shipping delays or just plain impatience. The handful of reps I have discussed it with agree to varying degrees that it doesn't make sense, and always promise to forward it up the chain. This has been in place waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long already. Let's pile on the pressure... it is just ridiculous. How hard is it to just have two choices: "I have a question or problem I want to try to work out with the seller" and "I need to resolve a problem the seller has already failed to help me with"

There is enough room for you to stay in your lane and get around the parked car. The roads were designed for such stupid. I'm actually super excited about this set. I just seriously don't understand people's negativity towards it. It's freaking deja vu like the Helicarrier. People did so much bitching and complaining about it, but look at it, it's selling like hot cakes. I've seen people complain about the build and that it looks boring. What would you exactly expect with 2 panels attached to a ball? It's like the TB. It's a simple build with 2 identical towers. But the finished product is absolutely amazing. It's also funny with people talking about the size. If they made it a $100 set with half the pieces, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same people complain that it was too small and for a UCS set, Lego would need to make it bigger. Luckily, it's just a very vocal minority that make it apparent online. This will be a day one purchase for me. I love everything Star Wars, and it'll be nice to have a Tie Fighter sitting next to the X-Wing on display along with all my other UCS sets. /2centcomment

And too repetitive. The idea is intriguing in theory I suppose but the Great Wall of China is simply that; a big wall. That sort of build sounds interesting as watching wallpaper dry. Honestly the Egyptian Pyramids, Mayan Temples, or Incan city of Machu Picchu would make for a more diverse building experience. Besides if I'm going to build a wall, it will be Pink Floyd's.

I've got a large photography setup, full length infinity white background and studio lights/diffusers... have worked for a professional studio in the past. Depends on the timeline, really, as I have a busy few weeks coming up in March. I do have a LOT of the sets you are wanting (not so much star wars, but modulars, architecture, maersk train, cuusoo (minus the sub), all the winter sets, etc.Not a ton are built, but I can do boxes no problem!

well, I gotta admit, I really had fun building 9493. Im not usually a builder but every build I do Im just fascinated at the engineering of these sets ... truly amazing work! 2 hours and 15 minutes for me on this build ... I want more!!!

I think you will regret returning Red 5 in order to buy a set like Slave I or a Tumbler. They are all great sets, but Red 5 has a very high possibility to retire earlier than the Slave I or the Tumbler.

thats the thing about this set though. It hasn't been widely available especially at a discount. Got a few on the B&****** bogo during BF and some with the Target Cube deal, and whatever the limit was on the EE earth half off deal. think that was 1. other than that other than a few WM sales the set has not seen a discount and has been harder to come by. that is what is strange about the whole situation going on. At 50% off this set is a no brainer mainly because you can buy it such a bulk. Not to many Batman sets come around lately at half off where you can stockpile a decent amount. 9 months from now during the busy holiday season anyone who got at 50-70% in quantity should do nicely whether on its own or in a nice Batman sale combo. Now if only I could get some at 50 off in this area.

I've never understood the design of ebay's interface, it's horrible from a usability standpoint. Add on the fact that buyers don't know that sending a simple message will open a case and it becomes beyond frustrating. I don't understand why they don't just have two mutually exclusive options: 1) Send a message 2) Open a case I for the life of me don't understand why the link opening a case with sending messages.

As a non-fan of Chima, I was not aware the end was imminent. It does appear to me the sets are unique and high-quality designs for the most part. I find the show marginally more interesting than Ninjago when watching with my son. I think the two themes suffer from the same issues, namely that no AFOLs are interested, and kids are fickle, always ready to move on to the next thing with little to no loyalty in general (OK that goes for adults these days too, but bear with me...) Is the CHI Temple the most iconic set thus far? From my limited knowledge I would say yes, and agree that Cragger's Command Ship vies for a somewhat distant second. I have no idea if this new fire / ice sub-theme is popular or not. The additional disadvantage for Chima is that, in terms of "investing" it is basically Ninjago 2.0, so not catching anyone by surprise (ala Ice Dragon sets and the like). For these reasons I feel any long-term position on the theme would be super-risky, and agree that smart money dumps almost all of it next holiday season. I have passed on 50% deals constantly, and often wondered if I was making a mistake. I finally got over it by realizing I would rather wonder that and possibly regret it, than have them sitting in the closet, wondering if I made THAT mistake, and possibly regretting THAT decision. That said, I have about 4 Chi Temples and a handful of ~85% discount finds that will make me some money in 8 more months. If you go long and deep on Chima and win, you will definitely get a lot of attention for it. Good luck!

Can't stand rotisserie. Quickest way to have half your teams quit by midseason is to have a roto league. If we were doing a keeper league, I'd be more in favor of it, but we aren't at this point. Everybody has their preference, though. I have no issue with 5x5 vs. 7x7. But it is my personal opinion that 5x5 is a dumbed down version of what it takes to really run a team. You have to know much more about the game of baseball to be successful at 7x7, which is why I like it. I can also see the flip side and see where people that don't follow the game as much are going to have their heads spinning trying to figure out what holds are, wtf OPS means and what it means to their team, etc. I don't want deep benches for exactly the reason you stated, people stashing players away. We had benches last year that could have been starting teams in deep leagues because we had 10 teams and huge rosters. I can expand the DL so that teams aren't losing bench spots for hurt players, but I won't expand the benches or the waiver wire will be a wasteland.

9471 and 9474? That is the Orc Forge which I have two of already built and Helm's Deep also built. Moving along, I have the regular 9493 X-Wing and two 9492 TIE Fighters that I am looking forward to putting together. All I need is Vader's TIE and I can recreate the trench run.

Sorry, but you lost me there - comparing the Mixer or even the Sea Cow to the Grand Carousel is just way too odd and random for my taste. Putting the Sea Cow in there to compare with the Carousel is like comparing the Arkham Asylum to Taj Mahal, whereas a comparison between Carousel and Mixer seems to be like putting the Creator SOH besides Architecture SOH. This way you could compare anything with everything. The Grand Carousel is like a landmark, without the historic component. It's iconic, it's big, it's unique. And that's why people love it. Sea Cow is neither iconic, nor do I believe in too many LEGO Movie completionists. Fairground Mixer is a toy all the way. Display that on your desk and show your friends - they will feel the urge to play with you. Display a GC - and they will freeze with admiration not even thinking about playing or even touching it.

I passed by a Target in Montreal, at Place Versailles. There were very few sets left. The small Star Wars ones were a better deal at TRU during the last sale (20%+10$off40$), and the few bigger sets left were undesirable ones. I think that may have been the last time I step into a Target in Canada...

Master builders academy level 3 (20214) for $89 on eBay. This set never moved on Amazon btw but was able to move 3 on eBay relatively quickly.

I just state brick and mortar stores generally release the items before .com. Its true, vague and gives them an answer. they are usually trying to figure out how to get them for themselves. Most of these poly's are made way in advance if you look at the codes so they could of been released in other countries for that matter first. Joker Bumper cars had fall 2014 codes on them.
