  1. You are reading way too much into all sorts of things.
  2. Alot more end users already have GE in their collection. Most missed out on TH. Resellers stockpiled GE but most missed out on TH. TH is the centerpiece for the modulars collection and is a must have:

  4. very true but just a free warning hxckid88 (sorry if I flipped the x and c again) will gladly ask you to paypal $5 to his personal email address for just about anything lol As stephen said though plenty of people willing to help out and plenty of information available if you take the time to read the threads.
  5. This is probably the strangest or most random purchase story I have had so far. A couple of years ago, in a kid's activity center gift shop I found a couple of retired 8051 Technic Motorbike's for $45.99. I bought one and left one (was selling for about $120 at that time). We were there again probably a year or so later, and they suddenly had 4 on the shelf. That time I bought 3, which all have sold in the $150-$160 range. We returned again about 6 months ago and they had nothing. I happened to be by there yesterday, so we popped in for a look, and they had FOUR of them on the shelf again! Picked up all 4 this time. It's a fairly rare set with very few for sale on Amazon/eBay, I have no idea where they keep finding these, guess I need to just ask how many more they have in the back. :-)
  6. He's asking about the "passes on" sets... The ones that don't get made get squat as far as we know. I find this whole notion that Lego steals ideas from the ideas site pretty funny. I can't imagine the good designers wouldn't look for MOCs on the net for ideas... Or experiment with a wide variety of models before settling on a few choice models.
  7. all the investing tips you need are on this site and are absolutely free. No need to pay anyone for stuff that can be found for free with a little bit of effort. Welcome to the site and good luck.
  8. I still print on a printer and adhere with shipping tape. I've been doing the same thing for 15 years.
  9. Are you F5ing the listings or something? Chill out, take a break, forget the TH exists and revisit it in the fall.
  10. PS Falling water went from 99 available at Lego to "Sold Out" about a week ago. .........Kinda big news Fallingwater just yesterday went to secondary sellers only on Barnes&Noble .com THAT might be the big news. Amazon is now the only retailer to still have it at retail and they are limit 2. The hoard may now descend. Thank you.

  15. Classic supply and demand situation. Resellers think it will go X times MSRP so are buying them from other resellers thus pushing the price up further. We will see if they manage to create a bubble or if there is really a sustained genuine demand very soon. Also if you see the full street built , it is the most commanding building and is a real centrepiece.

  18. Well, I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone, I don't own a smartphone either. I have a work phone, locked down. I can receive texts, no pictures.
  19. I'm old school like that too. And cheap.

Word. Use clear packing tape over the label including the bar code. Thousands of shipments later no shipping problems even though they suggest you do not tape over the barcodes.
  21. I'm what they call, unconventional.
  22. Amazon: # of sellers: 173 (-4 w/w) lowest price: $60.19 (+$10.91) BB: $65.00 (+$0.47) #852 in Toys & Games #91 in Toys & Games > Building & Construction Toys > Building Sets lets see how long we gonna get stuck @ $65.00
  23. None in Chicagoland. I would like to do my part and pick off about 10-20 more heh. Maybe I'll drive to Milwaukee.
  24. Now we have to get rid of the 3-6 per store at the 650+ locations Hadn't gone in awhile, stopped in 4 in an area and they all had that amount.
  25. How did you get your hands on my holiday picture!?
  26. Thanks for the reminder - I should put the R2 sealed box on a display stand with a hall of fame plaque underneath it! Ex Astris, Scientia.
  27. Down to bags 4 and I love this build. While TH still remains my favourite as for the bang/buck, this one is my favourite when it comes to detail, character and building fun. A relief after building PS and PR.
  28. From the Westside. That explains the SFV hate. lol.

I thought the same thing about the kiosk. The other ones from the Friends line that can be repurposed to a Fairground/Carnival are Olivia's Ice Cream Bike and Stephanie's Pizzeria. Also, the following polybags: Smoothie Cart (30202), Rapunzel Market Visit (30116), Flower Cart (40140), Balloon Cart (40108), Hot Dog Stand (40078).

  31. It was actually yesterday, but I bought 2 Trevi Fountains and 1 Brandenburg Gate from the Archetecture line. The Trevi Fountain sets were $34.76 marked down from $49.90 and Brandenburg Gate was $21.34 marked down from $29.99. Got these at Target and was really surprised. They were actually hiding on the second shelve down behind the 30% off clearance sign. You couldn't see them just looking at the shelf. You had to lift up the sign to see them. I'm so glad I looked!! It's about time I found a couple discounted sets.....and I'm glad they were Archetecture sets since I don't have any.
  32. Buy high and ... sell higher! and I mean that. I suggest people avoid cheap sets unless you're very comfortable with selling online. 1) buy sets that are ~$100+ (GB, RI and arch. sets are ok too. i.e. limited collectors stuff) 2) get any discount/rewards you can (mostly discounted gift cards on the sets mentioned in 1)) 3) try to buy near EOL (End Of Licence, i.e. not making the set any longer)
  33. Still wondering why I can't give you money for all these nifty features. Until that time, you have my continued thanks.

Lol, I don't think my three year old know the difference yet. He just know they are planes or spaceships. Right now he's having the arc 170 fight the suv and speed boats from 60058.
  35. higher price point. Unexpected poofage
  36. You'll sit on those for too long waiting for them to appreciate. Here's three quick tips because I'm bored: -Join the free Barnes and Noble email club (or the full club for 25 bucks), wait for an email coupon, and use it to buy every "Fallingwater" Lego set in your area in-store. -Try to get some Ghostbusters Ecto-1 at Toys R Us using coupons (none right now but they creep up every week or two)...that will be a winner. -If you see people post that "Research Institute" is live for its normal price, get some. You'll want them one year from now even with no discount now.

Just built my very first MOC alternate using only pieces from 31012 Family House. Wanted to try it out as a "modular" size house and this was the result What do you think? Any recommendations? Each level comes off easily as well, second floor and roof.
  38. Don't pay anyone for advice. It's all personal opinion and, in many cases, highly suspect.
  39. a qfll Hulk Buster smash sets - sold 5 @ 69.99, buy in was $20
  40. Nice find! Don't know about you, but I've always found when I actively seek out yard sales or estate sales, I never find anything good. It's always the ones you randomly run into or go just because a friend or significant other is going.
  41. Check out this one, I think this guy does some amazing modifications to existing modulars: Sjaak Lego 10246 XL Mod: Full collection of his photos HERE. Our family is working on the DO now, the detail is amazing. We primarily display our modulars but damn, building this thing is incredible. For us, the best part is the building and this is the most fun we have had building a modular yet. Every modular just gets more and more detailed and the building techniques keep getting better. Can't wait for 2016..
  42. Huw of Brickset has done something 'tried & true' with other modulars by adding another floor to the Detective's Office. It does make the structure more level with Green Grocer and a couple of the older modular houses but now it seems too big altogether in my opinion. >Detective's Office + extra floor
