  7. As mentioned new tracking, guesses and related contests when they occur will start in a new thread soon. Since this one is 99% done I will finish it here with this post and one final confirming post tomorrow. Thanks to toycrazedchris for his assistance with this behind the scenes! WINNING ENTRY - PENDING CONFIRMATION Lets go with Friday 1/30/15 at 12:27 AM EST as the time it went out of stock. I find it interesting that it was at 100 earlier tonight and went to 0. I can only assume some big Brickpicker buyers that remain silent bought up the balance quickly tonight or Toys R Us adjusted their inventory. From all the emails I have gotten the closest person (before or after) to this time wins. From my records I show that it should be newbiecollect with a prediction of Thursday 1/29/15 5:55 PM EST. I would appreciate if someone else would concur. I will wait to state it is final tomorrow. Now for the surprise. I like No More Monkeys suggestion to throw in a Red 5 T Shirt so I am going to do that as well for the winner. Once we confirm tomorrow morning that it is newbiecollect then please PM me your shipping address and your T Shirt size. I'll order one and throw it in for free too with the Microfighter X Wing once I receive it. It is the least I can do for everything that Brickpicker does for me. I just hope Red 5 continues the bounce at LEGO Shop at Home and then flies off into the moonset. Thanks everyone this has been a lot of fun. May the force be with you! Trek

  9. Only responding because you all asked... Some people go to college for 10 years, study geology and go to work for Nasa to spend 15 years on preparing and being part of a mars rover mission where they sit and stare for weeks at the same single side of a single rock remotely through a camera's pictures and video to draw conclusions about that one rock. To me as my hobby this is a lot of fun and exciting game. Yes I find this all exciting reviewing inventory levels and watching what store has what. Not saying you all are wanting me two but with two mods posting back to back If I need to start a new thread surrounding the contest and keep it out of this thread I will be happy to and we can move the last 48 hours of related posts over to it. Seriously I am fine with that. Of course we can all remember the Town Hall thread was really on track too and it wasn't even surrounding the town hall and went on for 100 pages or whatever. I am not proposing that. I certainly would like to have people discuss other things too. I can't discuss my personal copy because it is a pristine box not opened I proudly display and admire. I drove to get it on its first release day and was first in line at a store an hour and a half away. I am hoping to get another one some day for me personally that I can build and hang in my office next to the 9493, Quintet and the Indy German plane (whatever it is called). I have a Sopwith to build and hang with the mass well when I get time. I guess I like to hang planes over my head.

  10. Paypal can still clear the payment so the money should be in there. Just refund the buyer and don't deal with it if ebay has kicked them off. They can't hurt your account at this point as you can't leave any feedback if you are not registered anymore. You can still ship and paypal technically would cover you but its risky seeing the customer isn't registered anymore so no point to chance it as its a higher amount of money.

  14. Its not like I am going to delete them, I will just disable the tracking of them (i can active them at anytime quickly if needed). For every set that we remove, its a boat load of cycles that go back to the other sets to get even faster alerts on those.

  15. I imagin it's a bit of a love/hate relationship LEGO has with investors. As you mention, revenue is generated, but I am sure they hate a couple things - A: Product Shortages of hot selling products, because that upsets and drives away "normal" consumers, and inflated prices of current prices when out of stock as customers aren't always smart enough to differentiate between a reseller and a LEGO outlet. They just know they had to pay XXX dollars for a set above MSRP and they are pissed off. LEGO have a reputation of being too expensive as is. Similarly, I would say increasing resellers probably make it trickier for their R&D and Marketing department. Numbers aren't always accurate regarding supply and demand, since they have a hard time knowing what's being bought by customers as opposed to resellers in what volumes. Product cycles are planned years in advance, and skewed numbers can gum up the works. So, all things considered I would say LEGO more or less tolerates some/most resellers (Again, I am sure the vast majority of us could be banned pretty easily from ShopLego if someone cared enough) But again, for those complaining, remember those same policies are basically what allows aftermarket prices to stay high. So we can't really complain. And I aware of very few, if any people - who were marked by LEGO as resellers and banned who weren't actually reselling. So...

  17. Good thing I (somewhat) like you 1. Go to price checker page (http://www.brickpicker.com/brickwatcher/lego-stock-checker.cfm) 2. On the top of the page, click on "Setup Alerts" (red box, can't miss it) 3. It opens up a window for"Alert Notifications" 4. Choose the methods of receiving alerts (email, on site, SMS) and choose which sites you want to get alert for 5. Click "submit" 6. Under each set you see a box with "Alert Off". If you click them, they turn to "Alert On" 7. Set which set you want to get the alert for by clicking the box under each name changing it to "Alert On" 8. When a set is available at vendor of your choice, you get an alert Simple as that

  19. That is why I said "IMO". The movies are good, that does not make them iconoc. Nor is this ship iconic. That word is easily used, but not easily understood. Certain images, characters, stand the test of time. Others do not. Super hero movies are already testing those limits. There are only so many times you can have an all earth/world annihilation barely averted before people do not care anymore. Again, I state that just because lego makes it, slaps a UCS on it does not make it gold. That does not mean people will buy it. It is expensive, money kids don't have. No big deal, not my thing. A wayne monor, or 5 or 6 story high avengers tower would have been much better, ucs bat cave etc. Carry on folks. Just for frame of reference i own all of the first captain america silver age books and have most of the journey into mystery other than the first two, most of the first avengers etc. I invest for a certain market amd.objective and this is not it.

  21. I think the set looks better than this I also think treks contest was just something to get the community involved in a slower time of the year. Maybe the thread derails for a day or so but then it will be back to normal. Not much different than arguing back and forth over if its retiring or not retiring like other threads did for multitudes of pages (TH, R2, and others)

  22. If you remove the word "actually" from any sentence, the sentence still makes sense. Except of course a sentence like the above. The word should be banned from the English language. Try it... Be done with the word actually. You'll be much happier. (Learned this many years ago from an English prof)

  28. A fair point. I just miss the days of Batman fighting Bane, The Joker, The Riddler, and other arch-nemeses that are out to destroy him, our society, and the current human condition in general. I enjoy a great monkey fight as much as the next guy, but find the upcoming line of Batman Lego builds underwhelming: Batman Vs. Mid-life Crisis- Batman purchases a '97 red Corvette, in fair condition, and with reasonable mileage, from Craigslist Batman Vs. Elevated Blood Pressure: Batman battles steaks and goes on an all-salad/low-carb diet Batman Vs. his Alimony payments: Bruce Wayne works a second job at TGIF to make his child support payments As a true fan of Batman, I hope the well hasn't run dry. Only time will tell. And although I haven't stayed current with his storyline, I relay with full confidence that I believe he will defeat that giant monkey.

  33. Yup. This set uses many larger plates, special printed tiles and road elements, and lots of figs. That is why people shouldn't go buy the price per brick anymore. Price per ounce, pound, etc... is more meaningful.

  36. Walmarts are indeed kind of a potluck at the best of times, part of the fun I guess, the stores are rarely in-sync with the .ca option even - right now one will have the sw planet sets on for $5 & have dozens sitting on the shelf & nothing else on sale (at least nothing that is not always on sale like the Headhunter - gee will this one never disappear?) just not enough to make you want to make the trip & deal with the crazy, while the next Walmart up the street has all the LOTR sets & a few brick towers but no SW sets. I'm thinking 'cause there's so many Walmarts built so close together now a-days they are working together behind the scenes to keep different stock in different places so you have to check them all out while you're making a sweep...

  42. I was too until I saw that Nick Fury is really a cute little puppy dog with an eye patch. Not to mention the price at $399.99 seems a little steep compared the the Sandcrawler. I'm guessing all this fancy printing like the printed roadway/runway pieces (and inflation) are driving up the price.

  43. All, First, Ed and Jeff allow use to use their web site and in turn, we have a great community and virtual place to "hang out". Second, Huskers is being honest. Third, this is a family friendly web site There are niche web sites that are happy to have your posts about adult-themed Lego objects and other non-Lego interests such as firearms and politics (to name a few). Furthermore, the BP mods are volunteers that were selected to help keep the forum a fun and informative place for everyone. I also honestly think the BP mods are far more more lenient and forgiving than other Lego-related forums. Those mods can be extremely strict. So please stop the nonsense by using common sense before posting. Before clicking "submit", think about your post. If you think it has even a 10% chance of being removed, don't submit it. It saves everyone time and frustration. Additionally, remember to be "CIVIL". Search for Ed Mack's post of you need a reminder. Jeff made searching very easy on the forums. Finally, please contact the mod who removed or edited your post before making public statements. The BP forum software sends emails when your content is removed with the mod's username. Thanks and happy Weds.
