Makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, it never seems to work out that way. "Surely the Haunted House will be around through October..." "They won't retire R2 before the new movies..." "The Pet Shop will go before Town Hall..." TLG operates by it's own logic.9 points

I am posting here only to help people make more money and dissolve confusion about optimal investing strategies. And because I like LEGO. Also it is possible to be totally wrong, it's mathematics. Maximal gains has nothing to do with expected returns and I did not misunderstand anything. My style may be sometimes blunt which is a result of a mix involving exhaustion, personality and maybe a little intent. I don't like to be wishy-washy, but I also don't state things I am not sure of. I could spare my time writing these posts, the only reason I do this because I like to help. Lots of people here clearly don't think like investors while playing around with large amounts of money and it's best to eliminate harmful misconceptions as clearly as possible. Whether it's LEGO, houses, paintings, etc. investing is the same with its own mathematics. You do better if you are aware of it and can turn it to your advantage.3 points

So after geeking out on all the space stuff I decided to take a quick dig through one of the bigger tubs this morning before work and see if I recognized anything. 2 minutes later I came out with this gem: I'm pretty darn sure thats the upper left section of a market street 10190. If all the pieces are here I'm sure this is going to be the best bulk lot I'll ever find.2 points

For every one Mark Cuban, there's plenty of bankrupt would-bes. I'm not criticizing your religion (you did say "put your faith" in him), but LEGO isn't like other investments. All TLG has to do to kill your "all in" is rehash the set you're "all in" about. Why are folks lukewarm about the Red Five? It's not the only X-wing UCS made. Maybe another is around the corner. What if they build a new TH, the 1892 version? Diversification is a way to adapt to a changing environment. It's worked for this planet for several billion years and through multiple mass extinctions.2 points

Yes. KOTOR is my favorite game of all time. IT took place before Darth Bane. Who invented the rule of two when he decided the dark side was to watered down being spread out over so many Sith. Other groups of Sith think that is ridiculous, since the Dark Side and the Force is infinite and cannot be watered down. I tend to agree with that and think the rule of two was really just a way to consolidate material world power and not have so many lackeys looking to kill you and take your position. Look at me pretending like all this is real history. I'm such a nerd2 points

Jar Jar clearly states "Weesa free!" at the end of ROTJ special edition. If Jar Jar says that everyone is free, then the empire has indeed fallen. That's good enough for me.2 points
-
How about an idea for a spoof: "How ROTJ really ended after the movie ended" Cutscenes of people from all planets celebrating (a la end of ROTJ). Dark. Cutscenes of 3-4 Star Destroyers entering the orbits of these planets from hyperspace. Dark. Scenes of Star Destroyers bombarding the heck out of planets. Dark. The leftover carnage. Is that too dark ?2 points

I better hope they are real preliminary or fake because they look terrible. Nothing really unique. Just replace regular characters with zombie heads. I hope these are not the actual figures.2 points

This. It is hard (for me) to justify Red5 when there are better options for my money. Some of us are not blessed with unlimited capital and just need to make the hard choices. ETA: Damn this sounded too real... back to my jokes and youtube videos2 points

Once again...if you want a Red 5 and don't have one, I would suggest you buy one now.2 points

Even as the Remnant, it is repeatedly stated in the books they still had the most powerful navy in the galaxy, they were just to busy fighting each other. I think they flew an SSD into a Vong worldship, DS style. I am leaving before I never see a ****** again...1 point

Oh, I should clarify - my OP was about the Star Wars Days (not Celebration) that Legoland California does every March. That's where TheBrickFan suspects these will be released. And I will be at Legoland for that. But, I will also be at Star Wars Celebration, in Anaheim, in April. BTW - Anaheim will be tough in April. You'll have WonderCon April 3-5, and then SW Celebration two weeks later. I was going to hit WonderCon, but think I'll skip out with SW Celebration two weeks later.1 point

So something pretty awesome happened today. My co-worker knows I've been casually building and selling Lego. So today he brought me 3 huge tubs of Lego! 1 is from his childhood in the late 80's early 90's and the other 2 are from his neighbor which seem to be newer sets. The deal is I build and sell them and I get 50% of the cash. Pretty sweet deal for me as I'm basically getting paid to build Lego. The stress of selling isn't really a big deal to me as I essentially have nothing invested but my free time that I would have been building Lego anyways. So I'm super excited. Here are the sets I believe I have from the old tub as I've got instructions: 6832 6879 6898 6878 1479 6933 6887 6897 6239 6954 6923 6925 6957 6834 6953 1974 6831 6356 1974.4 6814 Haven't even began to go through the new tubs yet. Feel free to name any other cool sets if you see any. Instructions from old tub: old tub: NEW TUBS:1 point

I am not thinking this is a guarantee long term must have set... What i am thinking is there will be no other UCS X Wing available this Christmas when the movie comes out. It combines Christmas, Star Wars, the need for UCS Models and appreciation. At a minimum I see these things turning a very good return on MFLL (Medium Flipping Low Life)1 point

I am going to have to disagree with you guys. I recently got back into lego, specifically technic and space (no star wars). I really liked the unimog and have been watching it but did not feel it was worth 300$ vs some of the other sets I had yet to get. Now with the arocs coming out I could care less about the 'mog. The new model has new pneumatic pieces, more parts, and in my opinion looks better than the 'mog. The number of people who are lego fans and also big Mercedes fans and have to have all the Mercedes models is probably so small its not worth mentioning statistically. And no regular collector of technic will pay more for a unimog than an arocs, while the arocs is in production. So I believe it will affect the 'mog in that it will cap its price under the arocs ($250). I would pay $200 for a mog personally, no more than that, and I would have to really think about $200. I will however be buying an arocs when I can get it at amazon ~20% off. BTW a guy over at eurobricks is gifted at building models from photos and has built the preliminary arocs for viewing.1 point

Not disputing the content of your message, but I'm skeptical that Joe Schmo Lego store employee has access to some online database of set retirement dates or future production run data. That info is golden, Lego knows it, and if this were true, it would be widely known and reported in this community. He was just blowing smoke and giving an opinion with this info, IMHO.1 point

If you guys really want to have an IT discussion let's move this to another thread and let the real nerds school you. 2000 was NT and no Windows 8.1 is not just a service pack. Microsoft rewrote the kernel for Vista which is why it was so unreliable for some. 7 isn't NT but they did go back to some NT ideas and 8 is 7 with a new UI. It's rock solid but is a pain in the ass to use. 8.1 is better but rumour are 9 is again better (note rumours). Ps if you are still running XP please get your head examined. No excuse to not upgrade to seven. Sent from my iPod touch using Brickpicker1 point
