  4. Maybe you should be more careful about what you post then, as new members like MikeF can't tell if you're being serious. At least make it more obvious you're joking.

  5. Sigh. Some people take this stuff way too seriously. The Chinese diesel/solar hybrid powertrain R2, on the other hand, is already available at Lowe's in the home maintenance section (it has a snowblower attachment).

  6. I think it will be solar since Chinese investors bought up all of our good solar tech.. D'oh! I can see this being true. Same thing happened with Architecture Studio, the mgr at my Lego store (also Cali) told me about the issues and upcoming remake of that set long before the news broke here. I posted that info earlier this year but I doubt anyone believed it at the time.

  7. I know what you mean, but no - on the contrary. It's one of the things you can only really understand it when you actually are in that situation (having kids here). Kids are a pain, are expensive, mess with your sleep, your time and at some point even with the most sacred of all: your Lego; but they are totally worth it.

  10. 1) I hate painting, but I'm too fussy to let anyone else do it. 2) I hate patching the gazillion dents and scratches kids make on the walls before painting. 3) What's wrong with people .. why can't they leave feedback? 4) TRU Lego deals are total garbage right now.

  14. Must be amazon eh? Ebay I'm sitting on $43.95 and haven't sold one yet. But I agree, I'm not lowering. Think the rocket is taking off soon! Good news is I finally got a couple of Mixel sales. One Series 1 set $119.95. 1 two-pack of Zorch and Vulk $19.95. Hopefully they get moving again. Seems like a lot of people found these on shelves and have been keeping prices low (at least on ebay).

  19. From the new STAR WARS trailer, looks like R2 is the #2 Droid anyway. Now with all the bad pieces and missing bags, this set might be lucky to hit $250 after it retires. Time to move on people. I hear they are retiring the CITY Fire Station is retiring. That will be the better investment.

  22. I don't see why they would be making any sudden corrections after the set has been on shelves for years. I don't doubt that it will be back, to some extent, but I think this manager is just flapping his gums here.

  26. In last 12 hours sold two 3 set lots of Star Wars lego for $120 each including AT-TE, Spider droid, and corporate alliance tank. the fact that AT-TE just went EOL at shop at home might be helping. paid 68 on clearance at target. this is the same as star wars super pack 66473 which sells for $20-30 more. made about $20 on each lot and got my capital back so I can buy a couple more MF 7965s. All SW sets i have up on ebay have multiple watchers, lots of views. other themes - not so much - THANK YOU EPISODE VII trailer. getting rid of clone wars junk.

  27. Well I've just got "The boot up the bum" we need to love everyone equally email from LEGO LEGO Shop at Home Europe cancelling my order of 4 Farms, 4 Caves and Winter Scene (thought they would of caught on after the plethora of orders of Minecraft I have placed). I'm not strongly suggesting but could this be a sign of these sets running low (like the Craftbox) or just pulling me up on my evil ways? Thinking I may lay low and not order anything over the next fortnight. I really wish that Amazon (US) still shipped to us :/

  28. On some items, when the price is well above MSRP, Amazon doesn't give anyone the buy box. Looks like Galorco is finally out of stock.

  29. Thank you. I think designing any MOC is great but trying to create something only from what you are given poses an intriguing challenge that while sometimes frustrating is usually rewarding in the end. I know of a certain member at Eurobricks who not only builds good alternates but also ones that transform! They're absolutely brilliant in my opinion and I hope to showcase them here for others to see soon.

  34. these were in addition. I went on a road trip amd happened hpon the oklahoma lego store, as well as the discovery center amd lego store in kansas city. There is quite a bit of good exclusives at the discovery center. Then hit up the tru and found the chi temples on clearance. Then called home at tru in abq and picked up 30 rocket racoons. I may go clear them out for the long haum hold. So not quite a part of my plan, but a welcome addition. Then i have been hitting up amazon for the AA and HE.

  37. If there's any question on the seals, I would return it OR go ahead and open to verify the contents. Open box/sealed bags usually don't diminish the return that much later on after retirement but what you do not want is to run the risk of selling a set as complete when it's not IMO.

  40. If the head on the Alien Trooper was red, he would look like Zoidberg. And am I the only one to see the Evil Wizard as Ming The Merciless? Haha. The new battlevest for the Galaxy Trooper is awesome and I will get a ton of him same as the Goblin 'cause, you know. I think she's hilarious and probably what some of us have woken up next to in the morning.

  46. This is an excellent thread. Way too many people concentrate on buying and don't ever try out selling before they are just too deep. I am one of these people and I have long since learned my lesson (I think). For the first year and a half all I did was buy. I bought up over 1000 sets during this time. I would say that I was addicted (still am). The point came where because of money and space it was time to offload some of my sets. In order to buy more I would need to start selling first. So in January of this year I started selling. This was an eye opener. I know everyone says that it takes time to list, sell, package, ship, etc but you really don't understand until you do it yourself. It is very time consuming. You also have to expect there will be problems. Lost packages, buyer returns, etc. This all eats in to your profits and time. I know a lot of people say large sets are the way to go and I agree to a point. Just know that those sharks on eBay/Amazon looking for sets to scam people on aren't looking for small inexpensive sets. I've got burned a few times already and it is always on large sets. A mint condition Imperial Shuttle returned banged up and opened, a Robie House returned destroyed after FedEx left the package in the rain, a AS returned because the buyer "bought it for someone who didn't like LEGO", a Robie House and AS on the way back now for a mystery reason, 0 feedback buyers everywhere, etc. Some of these can be avoided with experience and others are just part of the selling process you have to deal with. And here comes the big one everyone is warned about over and over but never really understands until they sell.... FEES. The fees are much more of an impact on your bottom line than you may think. Make sure you find a good fee calculator online and just play with it a little and enter some values in for sets you have. See what you must sell at to get a certain return on your investment. This is easy and takes just a couple minutes but it will be an eye opener for some who haven't even thought about the selling side of this yet. Make sure you add in estimated shipping costs and add a little for supplies. I know most people don't think about tape, boxes, paper, ink, etc but it adds up very quickly when you start selling at a higher volume. As an example I have spent $40 this year just on packing tape itself. I made the mistake as I am sure a lot of others do of thinking if rough times come or I need the money to reinvest I will just sell a bunch of sets and be fine. The truth is it takes a lot of time for things to sell. Like others have posted its not like selling stock. It will take months before you can sell a large inventory of sets. If you need your money fast you will be basically giving your sets away to sell them fast. Many times I have been the lowest price and still had to wait weeks for the item to sell. To sum this all up I am still learning but I feel much more confident that I have gone through the selling process and know what is involved. It will actually change your investing and buying decisions. It has drastically changed mine and now I am making more money and spending less time because of it. Since I started selling in January I have sold almost 600 sets totaling just over $37,000. This has allowed me to grow my investment to over 2100 sets and make much better investment decisions. If anyone wants the exact numbers on profits, fees, etc on those 600 sales you can PM me. Buying is only half of the investment process. Make sure you try the other half before you get in too deep.
