  1. With all due respect, if you consider building a LEGO set work, then you will never truly understand LEGO and the finer points of LEGO investing. I am not trying to put you down in anyway. You can be a successful LEGO investor without really "getting it, " just like people invest in stocks or other commodities. Many intelligent people can invest in products they really don't care about and do very well. But I think if you really enjoy the LEGO brick and building LEGO sets, you can take that information and utilize it to your advantage when investing in sets. There is no doubt that some LEGO sets are tedious builds, but I cannot explain the feeling of accomplishment and enjoyment one receives from building with LEGO bricks. It's sort of like investing in wine or fine art. Either you get it or you don't and those who get it have a distinct advantage over those who don't.
  2. well, just sold that Department 56 LEGO Creation Station ornament i posted on wednesday ... $170 ...
  3. I just picked up one today at the Lego Store at Disney Store but these were pictures taken at Legoland
  4. rebuild...? huh? you mean you guys aren't supergluing them together? when i get done i spray paint them orange and sell them for large sums of money on ebay as prototypes.
  5. Does anyone else thoroughly enjoy the cha ching noise the eBay iPhone app makes follows up by the da ding made by the Paypal Notification on the iPhone? Harmony
  6. Looks really cool and actually works! It accelerates a Lego soccer ball to 12.5 KPH. Nerd Approved Ideas
  7. One more "s" will make a big difference here
  8. Not really a great deal...that comes out to over $1 per piece.
  9. So i got one hell of deal, i think even the best deal of the year for me. I managed to get 170 (yes, 170) polybags of this guy for under $5 each at my local Game Mania (Dutch Game Store). My question is: Should i flip them or keep them for longer?
  10. A bit like the guy a year or two ago who put in his listings, "If you're not buying my stuff, STOP WATCHING MY LISTINGS"
  11. Thanks. Talking about asses and Friends line mine earn me a visit from Chris Hansen.
  12. retiring soon is a meaningless ploy . look how long 6862 has been retiring soon. things that have this tag linger a long time. things that actually retire rarely say "Retiring soon" they just go out of stock. To me "retiring soon" means - we have too much and want to get rid of some, so um , its retiring soon.
  13. While I have no idea I think this concern is possibly overblown but good to discuss. I measured 4 from Target and 2 from Amazon all 36R4 and they are all on my scale either 5 lbs. 10.8 oz or 5 lbs 11.0 oz. I pulled from my storage another R2 bought long ago (relatively speaking) that is an 18R4 and it was 5 lbs 11 oz as well. So on mine there less than 2 tenths of an ounce variance. That is no 1 or 2 missing bag 7's. I think we will be ok.
  14. I find swearing from unexpected sources hilarious! R2 is like old school Andrew Dice Clay.
  15. Because it swears a lot...
  16. Just received the late holiday catalog in the mail yesterday... no UCS R2D2 as others have noted, but the R2 minifigure is featured prominently and mentioned in the text of every set in which you find him. e.***., the DS... "includes R2D2 and 16 other minifigures" People love that droid.
  17. Finally we get this. See here: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/lego-star-wars-pre-vizslas-mandalorian-fighter-9525/6000050911565 This set had been retired since May and Walmart has carried it for $45 for a long time. $30 CAD is 50% of this set's MSRP.
  18. Don't know where you studied it and don't wanna offend you so please don't take any when I say the following: Actually Japanese (Nihon-go) is not a difficult language. Most of the pronounciations are pretty simple once you get them, the grammar is fairly easy since they don't use any special endings (like french, german, etc. do... but every gender is pretty much the same), they don't have a lot of time forms (I know of one past tense and the present, for future they use indicators like tomorrow etc.) yeah... The only difficult thing about it: It doesn't have a lot in common with european languages ;-) And the letters are difficult since you use hiragana, katakana and kanji (if you're good then you know about 1945 Kanji!!! but hiragana and katakana are fairly easy like our alphabet). Also: Like most (all???) people, Japanese people like if you try to be friendly by using their language for small things. When I've been to Japan or even when I've met Japanese people in Germany or in other places I only got positive reactions when I used what little Japanese I know. Nice to meet you - Hajimemashte (the ji is pronounced like the letter "***" in english, Ha-"***"-me-masch-t
  19. This is concerning...reminds me of the FB problem that may ( or may not) have extended the life of that set when it was thought to be retiring soon: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/17340/r2-d2-10225-has-missing-bags#latest
  20. Oh great oracle, if you were never really feeling them, then why did you order these 'turkeys'? I'm pretty sure I know why.
  21. Who knows where you'll be in 5 years. My suggestion would be to build it. To me, building a big set is fun. And like many have said, you won't have a hard time selling it used, should you choose to do so.
  22. Then my post will become "I have 4 THs, and I'm tempted to build one of them, what should I do?!"
  23. And then Disney would eventually just own everything. World domination is what they are going for.
  24. Generally, I listen to my wife complain after my son and I finish building something. He leaves them all over the house and they accumulate fast.
  25. This is the set that was so underrated it became overrated and is now so overrated it will become underrated again.
  26. Tomorrow we're having over some Japanese people to our company. I would like to say 3 things Hello - Konichi-wa? Welcome - ? That is all I can say in japanese - ? Phonetic writing would be appreciated
  27. Kids change everything, take my word for it.
  28. I think i go with flipping. $1500 profit on this deal could be doable seeing the current numbers for this fig.
  29. Start flipping. Edit...nice haul by the way!
  30. You would be better off getting 5 Batman Ayslums then 8 Joust.
  31. Picked up 4 of these plus a Pre Viszla Mandalorian Fighter on big discount. I already have 2 so I will be torn between selling these and building a little army
  32. I don't want to act like I knew what I was doing, as I thought it would make a good gift for the kids at that price. Not now, it's going in the sell pile. Sold a Friends Adventure Camper 3184 for $60 shipped. Sold a Friends Heartlake Flying Club for $30 shipped. I'm going to assess the Friends line a little closer after Christmas, but I'm probably going to pick up way more Friends clearance this year.
  33. 1 point
personally I believe the top sellers are going to be: 21113 the cave 21114 the farm 21117 ended dragon In that order. Just my speculation. Edit: I think 21116 could be a sleeper if for some reason it wasn't produced as much (I only think this because it's "different" than the rest)
  34. With 4k you can't do much, so I'd go for 1-3 sets each modulars/UCS Star Wars/other expensive exclusives mix (+ maybe 2-4+ MF for that price!!!).
  35. If you find some on discount I would buy them. It is a nice and iconic set from the original trilogy. Almost everyone knows this ship. Yes, it has been around since 2011. But so what!? I feel demand will remain no matter what. Just my 0.02
  36. Short term or long term, new version or not... I don't know what kind of investor you are (do you buy 3 or 30 units of a set ?), but anyhow 89
  37. And to train: http://www.reverso.net/translationresults.aspx?lang=FR&direction=anglais-japonais You can click on the speakers above the text.
  38. Not building sets can have advantages. These are straight investments with no emotional attachment. No stressing over building one and blowing the money. Everything gets sold, straight cash homey
  39. I built one WM sent with labels slapped on the retail box. FedEx tried to loose some of the bags. I figured why not? It was my first modular, very enjoyable, and now I'm planning a town. I do enjoy building, and there's no price for that. My wife... maybe not so happy.
  40. welcome is "i ra shai mase-"
  41. Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda. We all have them and we all learn from them.
  42. Dynamic Duo 6857 = 602 currently in stock.
  43. I find it odd that Jabba's Palace is selling for $40 less than the Malevolence these days.
  44. Wait, I lost track.. Is he practicing to become head of shipping for Target/Walmart/Amazon/TRU?? So confused....
  45. Here is what I replied "No" to... There will be 1000x the number of R2's, Town Halls and Haunted Houses on the after market. This was in reference to the 10179 Falcon. I know there was 20,000 First Edition 10179s made. So at the very least, there would have to be 20,000,000...or 20 MILLION R2's, Town Halls and HHs floating around in the storage facilities across the world for your statement to be true. Sorry, that is not reality. As for your other comments, what I make or why I stoke the flames is none of your business. I could easily keep the information to myself and let people fend for themselves. I have enabled thousands of people to take advantage of private information for FREE. They have gotten solid information from me on the Rover, RI, SSD, TH and now the 10225, all in the past 6 months. The site's costs have to get paid with something, so if Jeff or I ask people to click on a link, it costs you nothing, but helps keeps the site operational. I really don't understand your other points. Are you telling me that DOUBLING your money in ONE YEAR is a bad thing? I really don't know of many other investments that exhibit returns like that. Good luck with your future investments. I hear Hasbro will be making a remote controlled R2-D2 that beeps and lights up. Sounds like a solid investment.
  46. Glad you like the site, there is more to come, I can assure you of that. Just need to get this classifieds thing off my back and then we can get to releasing and improving other sections of the site.
  47. Lol, how bizarre. And what a weird thing to be scrolling through this person's auctions and seeing these all mixed together. It's like.. Aw, this could be a cute choice... "Girls Frozen Elsa&Anna Olaf Snowman Kids Top Blouse T-Shirts Clothes 2-7Y Shirts" Ah, that looks nice for my little sweetpea too... "NEW Frozen ANNA Elsa Princess Dress Coronation Gown Costume Girls Xmas Size 7-8" Whoa...wtf?? "LEATHER GIMP DOG Puppy Hood Full Mask Mouth Gag Costume Party Mask ZIPPED MUZZLE" And... "Exotic Men's Full Body PU Leather Harness Chest O-Rings Goth *** Fancy Buckles"
  48. I was looking at Target's Ebay feedback and noticed they had one feedback as a buyer. I thought that was a little odd. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=targetstores&ftab=FeedbackAsBuyer It doesn't say what the item was so I got curious and clicked on the seller. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=2nd_ebuy&_sac=1#seeAllAnchorLink It seems to be kids clothes and bondage gear. Um, wtf are you up to Target? And can we get someone to look into this seller, lol?
