The Town Hall is retired as far as I know and I do not believe it will make a comeback with the exception of a sporadic and short lived in stock appearance. While LEGO can indeed change their core philosophy and reproduce retired sets, I haven't heard such a drastic change is coming. But a change is coming nonetheless. Reproducing retired sets would reduce the value of LEGO sets on the secondary market and I don't believe LEGO wants to reduce the value of their product, either on the primary or secondary markets. LEGO is very smart and does pay attention to the values of their sets on the secondary markets regardless what many think. The two work hand in hand with one another. The perceived high values on the secondary market filters over to the primary market every day. Many LEGO fans or collectors will pay $400 for a set because they know it increases in value after retirement. If this sets dropped in value after use and time, how would buying patterns change? Quite a bit I would say. LEGO has ALWAYS been an expensive product. When I was a kid 40 years ago, till now, it has been an expensive product. But like with anything that is of high caliber and finely produced, there is an increased price tag. You get what you pay for is very true with LEGO sets and people don't seem to mind paying for this higher cost, because they know they are buying a product made with the highest standards and the potential to increase in value after purchase. Should you buy a Town Hall now at $300 if you don't have one? Probably. I bought a Cafe Corner at $575 and a Taj Mahal at $400 and that has turned out well. I'm not saying the Town Hall will reach those levels, but it will be a non hoarded, short production run Modular, so I say there is a good chance of this set hitting lofty numbers.6 points

I built my first vintage set. It was actually my first huge ship as a kid which had been misplaced years ago. Bought this one off ebay. It was a so great to assemble. If you listen closely towards the end you can hear how brittle the bricks while pulling apart the modules. Enjoy.4 points

If this whole "out of order" EOL for the sets is true, it will make things quite interesting. If TLGs main deciding factor to end a set early is due to lack sales, and to keep other sets because they sell well will mean as a investor you reeeeeeally need to know where you're putting your money and have a strong game plan. Not just buying near what one believes is a sets soon to be EOL because you may just miss the boat. With that said, we should probably change this threads title to town hall/TLGs play to mess with resellers.2 points

Would emazers be considered smart reseller based on that policy? Epic Dragon thing being one of the few mistakes of course2 points

Well stated. Also, lego probably doesn't enjoy dealing with massive returns when a set that appeared to be eol blazes back to life with no discernible end.2 points

* You buy a set $200 at LEGO Shop at Home and you build it. Another guy buy the same set on LEGO Shop at Home. Lego gets $400. Lego is happy and will add some extra hugs and kisses in your next order. * You buy a set $200 at LEGO Shop at Home just before it's sold out. Another guy wants this set soooo much, you resell it to him for $300 on a craiglist. This guy wanted this set and have no more money to spend on LEGO Shop at Home. Lego gets $200 . Lego is upset because you made money thanks to them and the guy didn't pay RRP, meaning they may be finally disappointed and can change their mind and later buy other toys, or less sets, because of that disappointement. Lego would like that you do not resell sets, and that: * You do not invest in legos. Another guy buy a $200 set on LEGO Shop at Home. Lego gets $200. Lego is happy because it's how things are supposed to be. Of course, if you buy a set $200 and resell it 2 years later on a craiglist for $200, lego will not care that much about it. The only thing that may upset them is that you sold a 2011 Ninjago set, and they would prefer to sell their 2014 Chima sets, so the buyer will be tempted to buy some other 2014 Chima sets (still available).2 points

If I want a surprise box of "Lego compatible" bricks I'll take my chances with a monthly eBay purchase of brick lots that say they are Lego. There are bound to be less disappointments and a higher percentage of actual Legos.2 points

Happend twice. he then after stacking tried jumping over them barley made it . I was about to have so many pancakes. I fired him. Child labor sucks.2 points

There products are a great quality compared to you're ordinary boxes. They just rotate the boxes on "sale" every few months. Shipping is very reasonable but I would recommend ordering a pallets worth if you are not local. They get heavily reduced freight rates and thats your best option. You can get a pallet shipped through them usually for under $75 as they ship from the closest facility. Also if you order $300 or $500 pick a free gift that you can sell and you get some money back that way. The Johnny Trigg BBQ kits and Tervis tumblers sell well also. We order once a week and they use local delivery as they are in our city and charge about $35 shipping for the whole order. Stuff like the packing peanuts and bubble wrap are impossible to pick up so it works out great. I stock about 30-40 box sizes so we just order whats out for the week. Issues with product damage are cut way down as the boxes are 200lb strength and don't crush as easily as economy stock boxes. Some good starter sizes for LEGO products are 6x6x6 12x9x4 12x8x6 10x10x4 14x12x6 16x12x4 18x12x6 20x14x6 and for larger modular type sets 24x24x6 The white boxes good for polybags are S-156 and S-159 for the small box sets If you're ordering just a bundle though the time you factor in UPS ground it might not be worth it for you needs but if you want to stock up and not have to worry about ordering them it can be a good deal. You can get a ton of boxes on a pallet.2 points

More Mixels Series 1 for $110. Who was selling them at $99 and undercutting all of us either gave up or got bought. Good! Get out of my way, please. Let's raise the price, not lower it.2 points

I agree with Young_gun....my philosophy is you can't sell it if it isn't listed. Anticipate pricing, adjust accordingly, then sit back and watch your bobber. The season is already hot and heavy, so get busy!1 point

It's a pretty nice set that has been exclusive. It has been largely available up until now though (and I bet it's still on a lot of shelves, the LEGO store in Berlin I visited did have plenty of them). For 991 point

By most accounts, 10179 wasn't a great seller at $500 either. I'm in no way saying Town Hall will appreciate like the MF, but there are a lot of people who wanted this set but passed on it for other modulars, thinking there would be plenty of time to buy later. There will be time, but it will be at $400.1 point

A lot of people are overthinking this. Go back to Occam's razor: what's the simple answer? The Town Hall wasn't selling well, so LEGO decided to retire it. TADA! Seriously, take a look at the Amazon sales rankings for this thing. It was a terrible seller. I don't know the sales ranking algorithms, but if I had to guess, it was selling about one per week earlier this year. http://camelcamelcamel.com/LEGO-Creator-10224-Town-Hall/product/B007Q72ZA8?context=browse1 point

Hasn't been my time but I still have some of the minifigures of that series (though I actually do not know how and why... they've just always been there... magic!) Though this has not been one of my sets I still can feel the nostalgia. Nice Clip!1 point

Agreed. For sets bound to a holiday like the christmas sets, there should be a seperate status or simply the Sold Out status. It would be more accurate than slapping a retired tag on it.1 point

Calm down, it wasn't a super serious post it was half joke and half just an observation that strange things have been happening with the official "statuses" on LEGO Shop at Home both on product page and on orders. In the past 'sold out' was sold out period. Now we know 'sold out' means nothing and even the stronger 'retired' one has had its exemptions e.***. post office, et al. Recently we have seen the special statuses for RI and Tumbler at least on USA and the fact that you have it back online worries me since I gambled a little getting some of them hopping to do an evil quick flip on xmas. So we'll see how that turns out. The SDD = my stupid misspelling for 10221 Super Star Destroyer was available on Amazon USA for a few minutes, I saw the emails less than a minute too late got to see it but my "1-click" did not go through. Several BP'ers scored go to to the Daily deals for more info. I still have no idea what is going on with TH, this "in warehouse" is the cherry on the cake. Probably Ed is right and it is gone and we are only seeing skeletons but my point is that LEGO can play all sort of surprises on us in either direction hence the messing with us part. And this does not necessarily means that LEGO intentionally is surprising resellers just that we speculate so much that we bring this upon ourselves. $XX.XX is just a convention the same way people have time zones, SI and imperial units, comma versus point for decimals, etc. So I don't know why but that is the norm. In any case I am about to fall asleep so if anything above did not make sense just ignore it, have a good day/night.1 point

What he said. Open the box in the first 30 seconds. If you feel the need to explain what a subscription service is, do it while you're opening or after you're done. Also I think you said "really cool" about 700,000 times. Change up your vocabulary a bit. I would also edit out the part where you nearly knock the box off the table. I know this sounds a little harsh, but, you still did a better job than 99% of the similar videos out there and you did waaayyyy better than I could have done.1 point

I wish I could give a Thumbs down to the early openings like that, not the post but what the retailers are doing creeping earlier every year. I would rather the employees be able to catch a break with their family than navigate fights and brawls over $4 blurays. But hey I am old school.1 point

As I stated before, do what you will. Either way, I think you should buy this set as soon as possible. If you are a believer in short term retirement or retirement in a year, my advice is similar. Same goes for the Pet Shop and a handful of other exclusives that have been around awhile. Buy them now and let it ride. Regardless, you know many of these older exclusives are history within the next year, so why play the EOL game and procrastinate? As for inside information(if I had any hypothetically), there are rules that I try to would try to adhere by and I out of respect to possible other parties and their investing interests, I would not just blurt out everything I know. Nothing is set in stone. LEGO can change plans at will. What I do know is some people on this forum speak to the right LEGO employees and are dead on in their assessments, while others get false info. You just have to figure out which are correct. Good luck.1 point
