  3. This might be old news, but have you guys noticed the new items with the "retiring soon" tag at shop@home? 9493 X-Wing 75019 AT-TE 75018 Jek-14 41008 Heartlake Pool 75041 Vulture Droid 75039 V-Wing 75003 A-Wing 75022 Mandalorian Speeder 3185 Summer Riding Camp And others. Several of these look interesting to me though.
  4. Awards Labels are mostly given on november and december, no ? Who knows, maybe you should try to explain that your life as a reseller would be better if they confirm it's retired. Lego can't stop to argue that they are very nice people.
  5. My bad. Somehow my search pulled out those big Technic sets as well. Here is a graph of the current vintage of exclusives.
  6. Right here: http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/10400-assumed-date-codes-for-production-runs/page-27#entry347889 If I cared to speculate (and I do), I would predict 13-14 major sets are going away (or are already gone except for vapors): TH, GE. HH. SC, KJ, R2, HE, SOH, WVM, ToO, R5, EEE, AA, and maybe it is finally time for good old DS. Ones that I don't think are going away (that others have speculated will) are: TB, PS, 4x4, T1 Just IMHO, YMMV, etc, etc. P.S. - 60% of the time I think I'm 100% correct, or 100% of the time 60% correct, or I can't fool all of the people some of the time, or something like that.
  7. No biggie...Just don't want to give false information. Might be 11. LOL
  8. Hmm, so, at least, Ed did not invoke Newton's flaming laser sword, which is good I guess. In its weakest form it says that we should not dispute propositions unless they can be shown by precise logic and/or mathematics to have observable consequences. In its strongest form it demands a list of observable consequences and a formal demonstration that they are indeed consequences of the proposition claimed

  10. I am here...just watching...and waiting...
  11. Because that's what we do when there is nothing we can do about it!
  12. Sleep is costly
  13. Dear Lego friends, For all you Dutch investors (perhaps also other countries with Dutch contacts): Intertoys.nl will have upcoming sunday 2th of November a 15% discount on their entire webshop collection. It is from a highly trusted source. This means TH's for 153 euro and GE for 135 euro. There are now more than hundred in stock, let's buy this **** saturday night before the 'normal' people can buy one, so we can sell it with big profits later on to them :-p Good luck! I will also make a specific topic in the 'european deals' area of this forum.
  14. This past Febuary, I found a lone 10212 Imperial Shuttle sitting on a shelf in TRU. When I asked an employee about it, he said they had just found it in the back room.
  15. That's because 70% have limited to none of the TH in hand at the moment. Myself included.
  16. I'm reassured that 70% of brickpickers still say TH will be out at least until 2015. For Lego to retire it before that would be downright undemocratic!
  17. I've been attending the BrickCon Public Expo in Seattle for years, but had never displayed my models before or participated in the longer 4-day Private Convention. I just completed an in-depth write-up that goes "behind the scenes" at one of the largest and oldest LEGO conventions for AFOL's. Some of my highlights: Seeing large LEGO models get re-assembled was really interesting. I loved playing the LEGO games like the "Blind Build" shown here. Displaying my models for the first time to the Public was really cool. As always, there were impressive new models on display at the Public Exhibition. LINK TO LONGER ARTICLE AND MORE PHOTOS: http://tomalphin.com/2014/10/brickcon_2014_behind_the_scenes.html I hope you find this behind the scenes look at BrickCon to be interesting. If you got to attend too, what was your highlight from the show? Sincerely, ---tom

Not sure of "official" policy but my walmart has no problems price matching, even online. They however never match a % off or BOGO, just prices The app now has a price catcher feature that will search local ads and refund you the difference. I bought some Lego during the across the street shopko Bogo 40% sale just to see if it would "catch" it I'll keep you posted
  19. Today was interesting as despite my best efforts, I was unable to 1-click into anything but it made me consider the following, particularly concerning the throng of people pounding F5 for Town Halls and Haunted Houses, here and elsewhere. Generalized statement: Lego's retail outlets probably do very well; they are in high traffic areas, usually in more affluent neighbourhoods and shopping districts with higher rents. They seem to be undergoing a very controlled retail expansion and to me that is a positive sign and I would love to know what their average sales are (choose your metric). Lego stores are the greatest "showroom" for their product and, in my opinion, greatly strengthens their brand and brand awareness. I also notice that the amount of Lego advertising is steadily growing through TV shows, retail opportunities and of course the Lego movie - the best 2hr ad created in recent memory. I don't know what the end game is for their distribtuion network - but a lot of consumers are less aware of shopping at lego.com than they are of amazon/walmart/target etc. One way to continue the company's growth is to have a higher turnover rate of sets and themes (the next big thing) to continue to grow sales. In another thread, I noted that Lego has introduced approximately 10 new "exclusive style sets" this year - there isn't room for all of them in the showroom and I realized that in my last few trips to 4-5 Lego stores, I have seen less space for exclusives and more for mid range sets. That could be due to a shortage or it could be a subtle switch to a modified business model. Specialized statement: Investors should really consider their holiday plans and determine what is best for them - sets at 40% that will probably be around again at a lesser discount or sets at no discount that may or may not be around in the next 6-12 months. Newer members should REALLY research before the end of November so that you lessen the probability of making a mistake. Either nothing is retiring or everything is. Good luck on your hunts, now I need one more TH
  20. they marked those trains when they were already sold out I believe. I think they did it to prevent confusion with the newer trains, so that customers knew which ones are current.
  21. probably...i just noticed this has been out almost 2 years...the bakery and a few others too...i think this one and the bakery will be winners...not a triple or anything but a solid double msrp in due time....
  22. Yes, where did I say 10?
  23. Throw us a bone please Ed, and preferably not one of those cryptic ones.
  24. The simple view on this would be 10 sets are retiring and as long as you stocked up on them there's nothing to fear but why would you actually fear if you missed out on something you just missed out the reason fear Thel part of me makes me think there is a great class distinction divide coming that will segregate people not based on what they purchased but on who they are that's what bothers me and I fear But since Ed said keep it simple stupid in very fancy words I think the answer is 10 sets are retiring and you're in great shape if you stocked up on the right ones

  26. The point wasn't the golden tickets, it's that Lego may no longer sell exclusives through Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc. When Ed Mack talks about chaos and big changes and warns us to be prepared, I don't think he's referring to Kingdom Joust retiring.
  27. There is more to come...Hope you all are prepared...
  28. To keep to the Big Picture there are essentially two types of "updates" if you will that will notify you of product availability. The first and the easiest are websites that monitor for you. Like NowInStock, ChangeDetection etc. While these are effective in notifying you of changes made to websites they are for the most part too slow to notify you in enough time for you to grab that "at the moment" deal. (Deals that have limited stock and invole EOL items) In addition to websites that monitor there are browser specific add ons or extensions that can notify you of changes to websites. These involve a little more research and reading up on basic code to use. This method requires you to be in front of your computer b/c the notifiers are on your screen) The second type is much more involved where a level of code programming is required. This is where the term script comes from. Those that use this method are writing code to notify them of specific changes made to websites. These scripts or lines of code are usually sited on a Linux server.
  29. Last year someone sad that anything in friends line related to water was pure money for flipping around christmas, but i am guessing dolphin cruiser sales probably made that person biased :-)
  30. If all of this wave of Star Wars is heading out that means sail barge and Republic Gunship will be heading out to most likely
  31. Well I sold 4 bricktober sets I had posted for $115 each that cost me $64 each in under 24 hours. The other 4 I will keep longer but a little concerned I did not want to be stuck with these things when the market gets flooded if it does. Long term they may be worth a good amount hence keeping some but TH, AA and R2 will perform much better for my $ in my opinion.
  32. I can just see beavis and butthe@d......"LEGO [email protected] he he he he he he"
  33. Yeah... if we were selling stock we don't have, suddenly we would be bad sellers with defects and such, with possibility of being banned if we do it repeatedly
  34. Hmm, jerks in your part of the world must be descendants or related to the jerks in my part of the world! For every person I get who wants to buy, I'd say only one in about seven actually completes the transaction. Others want ridiculous discounts or simply stop communicating. That being said, it is generally worth the trouble/annoyance as I like being paid in cash!
  35. I see the RRP is 180
  36. He may have bought 4 of them.
  37. Well, since there will be a new modular out, the assortiment will consist of 4 modular building so that seeems acceptable to you?

wow....sounds like more people's orders are getting cancelled rather than shipped....i shall quit f5ing. maybe a better strategy is to buy items that have been out for a while and not get into this last minute buying fiasco
  39. I had no idea that section was up. It really needs some way for people to easily show where they are and you should make it mandatory to specify.

With these only available online until 2015. It's screaming Xmas flip
  41. They'll hit the floor next week. I'm waiting for a BOGO 50% to stock up.
  42. I think that Ed's message has been consistent. 1) TH is a goner. 2) The reason it is retiring sooner than most thought has nothing to do with sales or box size. 3) We can no longer count on predictable retirement dates for large exclusives, even modulars. This may be a strategy to avoid wild swings in inventory.
  43. so is Ed Mack the new lego investing deep throat of bricks? who said anything about "insider info" ha that's it. i'm gonna start my own lego speculation web site named, "deep brick" and ed mack will be my single "man on the inside".
  44. I read that as you were saying you buy stuff with BA's wife's account.
  45. Ordered Parisian Restaurant today. Will build it next weekend. All because of people posting here how great it is. Hate you guys... Could have spent the money on an extra TH
