Buy something else if you feel that strongly about this set, plenty of other investment worthy sets out there.3 points

Haven't heard back from ebay yet but I found a work around. On the app I revised the item, changed the item category to LEGO-Other and it allowed me to add GSP back to the item. Don't ask me why but it works. Not ideal but it's more important for me to have GPS than to have the item in the LEGO-Sets category where I would normally list most of my items.3 points

There could be a slight problem buying this in March, might not land this with double VIP and promo like the toy workshop. You can easily drop this purchase to about $130 without using VIP points if you do it right by selling the workshop at its peak at $25-30. You also risk seeing this go OOS. Anyone who's a lego investors should have a pair of these this month. We all saw how fast the TH inventory got wiped out in a day. The triple E will have a mass panic buy happening here soon. People will create multiple accounts and use their gf's VIP to add more.3 points

I heard back from ebay on the issue. It's a known glitch they are working on. I was advised to end my listings and create new ones. Don't think I will do it now since I found the work around. That would be a good bit of work.2 points

Well I am up to 5 Town Halls but I would like to get some more. I called about 30 of the 78 Lego stores in NA today. 29 were out. 1 had stock but local pickup only. If anyone has locations that ship to home and still have stock that your aware of please PM me.2 points

I take this "employee laughing at question" thing with a sack of salt. If you just go up to a shop employee and ask them if that or that set is going EOL soon. Then yes, it would be a good reaction but if you social engineer it somewhat, you can get reasonable information from them. And they don't need to know when a set will retire. The only piece of information they can share that can point to an EOL is when they don't receive any shipments of said set anymore. I know but I just find it sad how Lego employees here are being branded. Some say they are a conspiring bunch dedicated in misinforming us, bp'ers. Others say they are too dumb to know anything.. Bref, if an employee tells you something, listen to them. And afterwards, try to look for more info to verify this information. I simply don't think you can just dismiss any information coming from them.2 points

Opened and built! Its a cool set, quite an usual thing compared to the rest of the stuff we build from lego bricks. Loved the colours too. Need a nice place to display it now2 points

When you buy a set at $130 and sell for $200 online, you do not get $70. You get about half of that.2 points

1 mixer just cause it seemed like the thing to do today. At this point I fear the wife's snip snip more than I fear Lego's ban hammer .2 points

Looks like 5 to me. Good job at exercising your adherence to the limit and not getting too greedy.2 points

I went into the lego store leeds with the family and they had one tumbler in stock. I already have 2. I wanted to get it but the wife would not let me. Should I A. Divorce her B. Thank her for restraining me from overspending on a risky short term investment. C. Say nothing then remind her about it repeatedly when people are reselling them for2 points

Yes. Limit was 2. Of course just try to get one at a time with one click since it won't put the order through if they only have one and you selected two. Repeat. On the second one, you'll be asked if you meant to do a duplicate order. Quickly click yes. They track cumulative purchases over a 168 hour period. So in 168 hours after the first purchase, you could order another one if you had bought two in the last week.2 points

If she gets banned it's a good reason to dump her and get a new gf. That's what I'd do.2 points

I'm proud to finally share my model of the Geisel Library at UCSD, which is a lovely Brutalist-style building that I re-created in the tradition of the Architecture series. The final building in the style of the Architecture series sets. The finished model is probably about 800 pieces, and it's on display this weekend at Seattle BrickCon! If you aren't lucky enough to be in Seattle this weekend, I've prepared a collection of photos of the models, as well as a exploration of the creative process as I iterated on the design before reaching this final version. Before arriving at the final design, I did a bunch of explorations including this much smaller model. some photos of the real building that I've tried to re-create in LEGO. More photos and the "making of" at: http://tomalphin.com/2014/10/geisel-library.html I hope you enjoy my first serious MOC, and I'd love to hear your feedback!!! Sincerely, ---tom1 point

Okay he let me have it all for 150$ with the bins and all the books. It's 52 pounds lego and 20 pounds bionicle. His grandkids came to visit for the summer while he was vacationing in Vegas so he didnt want to keep them. His grandkids are 9-12-15 so hopefully that means good stuff. Will check later but time to go to my local lego store to pick up some more town halls1 point

I picked up a mixer and sea cow a few days apart for myself... I had to return a few recent investments to cover for these last minute impulse buys. The x2 VIP and polybags ( 2 if you get the mixer this month) really tipped me to over splurge.1 point

I have a guy that works at my local Lego store who is also an avid collector and has been for some time. He knows Lego inside and out. Does he know when sets are done? Heck no. But he also sits in a store and sees what gets put back on the shelf and how often. I always listen to what he has to say. Never hurts to pick employees brains. But I always buy what I set out to buy and don't stray too often. My wallet already hurts enough.1 point

I don't dismiss anything, nor I completely accept anything. I have absolutely nothing against store employees.1 point

They're not - Pitney Bowes is the shipper. But that would be like asking FedEx to enforce TLG's overseas sales policies - not gonna happen.1 point

This probably wins the random award for the day. Went to Brickcon in Seattle, didn't pick up anything big, only a couple of small used sets for my son. But hit up the Children's Museum gift shop near the event - about a year ago they randomly had a Technic 8051 Motorbike for $45, which I sold on eBay for $110. For some reason they had three more of these back on the shelf, and they were 20% off. Picked up all three for $40 each after tax.1 point

I like the crane and the two small buildings that are included in the set. I think that this set is better than the Public Transport set, but not by much.1 point

I thought there was a US restriction on exclusive sales. But here is proof you can still get one 50% off.1 point

Even if you don't know the Tower Bridge , if you go on brickset and search bridge --> pieces high to low you will only find this set usable for a bridge in a city moc. Plus you can modify it for train passage.1 point

I find it strange that in a society filled with the Internet, newspapers, television and of course education that there are adults who are unfamiliar with such an iconic landmark. If only Lego had created an expert Creator Mount Rushmore, Lincoln Memorial, Alamo or Arc De Triomphe they would have probably appealed to a larger audience. Order each set one at a time so they come in their own shipping boxes and charge the courier costs to the buyer.1 point

One can argue about whether or not the Tower Bridge is a well known landmark, but as a LEGO set, there is no argument...it is a great set...and value.1 point

For what it means, the "Monster fighters" theme has disappeared from the LEGO Shop at Home. This theme went in and out some weeks ago, it looks like this kind of scenario: (lego, 2 months ago) - Ok, the HH is nearly done, we will sell the rest of our stock for halloween and Xmas, that's great. (lego, few weeks later) - Well... it's already OoS ! Afterall it's a great set, bah, it's better than being stuck with. We do not want another kingdom joust. Ok, we have to ask for retailers to return their boxes, they will be glad to make some room. And since it's OoS, let's remove the Monster Fighters theme from the shop. (investors) - The Monster Fighter Theme has been retired ! What's going on ?! Let's buy some more HH ! (lego) - Damned ! It's already sold out ! A lot of people still want that set ! Let's make another production run ! (investors) - The Monster Fighters theme has returned ! Want does that mean ? The HH is still sold out ! (investors, few days later) - (investor A) It's back ! I want some ! (investor B ) I'll wait for double VIP points ! (investor C) No way it's retiring ! (October 1th, investors and AFOLs screaming together) - Heeeeeeeeee ! Double VIP points are here ! PANIIIIC BUUUY !!! (lego) - What the ??? We sold everything within 24h ! Well, we have no more now... let's remove the Monster Fighters Theme. (investors) - (investor A) I got my set ! Seals 38S4 ! (investor B ) My 5 sets have been canceled ! lego, burn in hell ! (investor C) I have plenty ! I told you ! (investor D) I have none ! Will it come back ? (investor E) I don't know ! I hope so ! To be continued...1 point

I only have 12 Town Hall sets, thats all I am getting, anybody who think that they missed out on the Town Hall I would be buying the Tower Bridge, I think this set will do much better than the TH, thats why I got 30 of them, Its a world landmark and look how all the other sets like that have done, and with the Douple VIP points its not a bad deal. Or wait to the retiring rumor panic buying starts. Now I am only saying this to people who have the money to buy these. Ed1 point
