  1. I was contacted by Volvo to post a design video of the LEGO Technic L350F Wheel Loader. It's definitely an interesting video to watch. I love these types of behind the scenes and design videos. You can buy this set for $249: LEGO | Amazon |

  2. Only about 20% of Lego Investors will wait 8-10 years after this or any set retires, some will crack after a few months only if they will only make a few dollars. Even I never waited that long. And that goes for just about any set, its easy to say I can wait, but everybody will find out its far from easy.

  3. One of the smaller Arctic Sets. I've been please with the whole series. I'm hoping that my next build will be The Lonely Mountain.

  5. You do realize the first holiday season since it's retirement is still 50 days away? I think time will tell, once we get to March 2015.

  6. I guess that would be more expensive than to get one from an ebay reseller right now.

  12. This is the perfect set to box up your inventory of, put away, and forget for eight to ten years. Massive investment volume will hurt this model in the short and medium time frames... But as a long-term HOLD this has all the ingredients: iconic/timeless model, no remake potential, displays beautifully and the details are extraordinary. It will take time but the last guy holding this in inventory is going to be sitting on a gold mine.

  13. So I have been looking for a list of stores that sell LEGO sets. Is there a comprehensive list available? ** = They ship internationally XX = They DO NOT ship internationally ? = don't know if they ship internationally % = Only some sets 1. Lego.com - ** 2. Amazon.com - % 3 Target.com - XX 4. TRU.com - % 5 Shopko.com - ? 6. Sears.com - ? 7. Walmart.com - XX 8 Entertainmentearth.com - ** 9. westendtoys.com - ** 10. kmart.com - XX 11. Ebay.com (Other auction websites.) - % 12. Brickset.com - ? 13. toywiz.com - ? 14. bigbadtoystore.com - ? 15. meijer.com - ? 16. barnesandnoble.com - ** 17. bookamillion.com - ? 18. samsclub.com - ? 19. thinkgeek.com - ** 20. yoyo.com - ? 21. bricksandminifigs.com - ? 22. toysperiod.com - ? 23. chowrentoys.com - ? 24. theplasticbrick.com - ? 25 brickenvy.com - ? 26 firestartoys.com - ** 27. kiddiwinks.com - ? 28. brickarms.com - Custom Lego pieces - weapons etc - ? 29. brickmania.com - Custom lego kits - ? 30. brianstoys.com - ? 31. spareblocks.com - ? EDITS ADDITIONS: 32. Craigslist.com (Other trading websites.) - XX 33. listia.com - XX 34. Bricklink.com - **(depending on seller) 35. Brickforge.com - ** Ok so I know this isn't all of them. Which ones did I miss? (If I missed your store, it's your fault. Your marketing is terrible. I shop for Lego sets all the time, how have you stayed hidden?) I only went about ten pages deep on Google. 90% of these I have heard of before but I have not purchased from all of them. I figured this was a good start to the list. I will continue to add the suggestions people make to the list so you don't have to scroll through a ton of pages to get all the stores.* There are probably a million little sites that sell a few sets...lets try and keep it to those who have a regular, steady inventory. PS You're welcome. Unless someone has already done this type of thread...then I'm sorry. *Contingent upon me not getting lazy. Edit: I started a key for those that ship internationally. As pickers figure out who ships where, post it here.

  15. This set will become highly unpopular once the spirits that possess it start moving things around in your pantry. It's unsettling.

  16. I think they meant "limited" in availability sense. In USA, you can't buy it anywhere besides Lego itself (well, and reseller scum)

  18. I was telling people to get this set most of last year, if you check ebay they are going for $130-180, now for us guys that gut these for around $80 or so the set is doing OK, should be around $200 by Christmas and higher in 2015. Most sets take time to get big money, one exception looks like the Haunted House will sky rocket very fast, just check ebay now. On The Helm's Deep unless you need the money wait another year.

  19. These sort of comments and concerns completely baffle me. The set hasn't been retired for a full year yet, and as others have pointed out, is still floating around the wilds at retail (Europe more than Stateside apparently). This is about as sure fire a winner as there is for a non exclusive. I fully expect $250 after Christmas, and most likely will hit $300/$350 by next Christmas. I have no idea where people get their expectations from. If you're that nervous about it, try to stick them in a closet and forget you have them. You'll be glad you did. Where's Emazers when you need him.

  20. How much can you make by building one of these sets.... I mean building a lego set seems like work. People do this for fun?! Weird

  21. The cost is long term - a collector/investor (convestor?) can buy a used set now for $100 US or less and keep a NISB set for resale down the road. The NISB set will have significantly more value and THAT is the cost of opening a set now. You benefit from building the set and having the new one to sell down the road. I love opening new sets but I only open new release sets and the further sets are in their respective "life" cycles, I avoid opening them and look for them used.

  22. No, the money he'll save not seeing a shrink because he can do something he wanted to (opening a $120 box) but he didn't. Sepotato: open it, enjoy it: it will appease your mind for the rest of your life, so you'll not have some regrets (I understand you can regret losing some bucks, but you may have far more regrets not having fun from a set you owned).

  23. The waiting is the hardest part.... Tom Petty aside, it is tough to hold. I am waffling on selling off a few larger sets this holiday season, when I know that they probably still have time to grow. Still, I have limited resources and I want to buy, buy, buy, so there is an allure to selling off at a decent profit instead of holding another year. (Not to mention storage issues...and my wife would like to see some boxes go to the post office...)

  25. Oh, one thing on pricing, don't use the current inventory average when you auto price your inventory - the price guide is tampered with by a few individuals & is totally out of wack with reality - $10,000 for a single 1x plate really??? always use the average sales price & adjust from there to get an actual view of real transactions.

  26. Here is the part out set link http://www.bricklink.com/invSet.asp I'd advise if you have say 10 sets of one item to do them all together. It helps sorting that much faster. Check out some of bricks on the dollar videos too. They can be helpful at times.

  30. I use the part set function on Bricklink - you can do the same if you've kept the sets intact, just remember to manually remove the minifigs and any of their accessories that you will not be uploading from the editing page that will pop up for you in the part set process. Making a few small orders first is a good plan - it'll get you familiar with the process as you mentioned, and it'll get you a few feedback points to start with, which will make some buyers more comfortable with you. Before you upload anything, make sure you have your filing system set up and the parts you're about to upload already filed. Nothing is worse than getting orders for parts sitting in a jumble on your "to be filed" table. With your eBay selling experience, learning Bricklink will be simple enough - a few differences, a few things that work better and a few things you won't like as well. The forums there are shark-infested, but simple start up questions generally won't get you bitten (or you can always ask here in safer waters).

  31. Well interesting enough the Exo Suit is now out of stock at: Target, LEGO Shop at Home, Toys r Us, Kmart, Walmart and Amazon. It is probably temporary and will be back in force but its a nice sign. eBay is about break even on 34.99 original cost (selling for minimum $49.95). Hope we get lucky and it stays out but probably not...

  47. i know. but it's not that simple anymore identity theft is the bigger prob. the recent data breaches (including target and experion) have hackers (and the buyers of the data) opening MC and VISA credit cards using the stolen information. it was just a matter of time the stolen encrypted data was decrypted. sure, we won't be liable for the purchases but the more serious issue at hand is once "secured" personal data is now available for those who can buy it. fixing matters like that is a mess using the 3 credit bureaus. some folks (regardless if the % is low) will ultimately need to change their SS# which is a MAJOR headache. personally, i think many companies have greatly misused our SS#s. seriously, do companies like AT&T and Comcast really need our SS# to offer us their services / products? we are prob getting to the point that people will need another unique identifier to replace SS#s.
