Seal codes are something the sellers who cash in on this during christmas can use to try and protect yourself. Take note of the seal codes and put them into the auction somehow, buried in the description or whatever. Put a photo of the seals on these where the code is plain to see. If you get a set returned next year with different codes, you know you have a scammer on your hands and you can try to argue the codes with ebay CS since the customer did not send back your item. Better than nothing.

Since they come up with 1 exclusive each month on average they probably need to retire some stuff to achieve a sustainable steady state in production and marketing. After all not many exclusives retired this year, I remember only FB, WV Cottage and SSD, the latter still available in Europe. The others are unconfirmed. Meanwhile we had the 3xE, PR, Sandcrawler, Mixer, Sea Cow, Tumbler, Mini, Slave-I, Simpsons, WV workshop come out this year. 10 sets. LEGO has to maintain balance somehow, the number of available exclusives shouldn't go to infinity.

So, if we took all the EOL rumors and looked at them all at once, Lego is retiring their entire product line at the end of this year? Is that about right?

Very hard to tell because it will vary according to the SW movies, the success of modulars, the possibilty of new SW sets already released... My two cents if you want to keep these sets for (let's say) 7 years: HH : now $280 (or so), max $800 Imperial S : now $430, max 800$ PIF (gadget, ah ah... bref) : now $550, max $1000 Unimog : now $260, max $400 So the best is the HH in my opinion, and the safest. PIF and IS are ok too but problem is you will have to pay a lot of money to get them. I would pass the Unimog if I were you (I don't think the ceiling will be very high, it's not as "collectible" as the 3 other sets)

As a lifelong NY Yankees fan, I am a huge Derek Jeter fan. I found this video of his Top 10 career plays done with toy minifigures(Sorry...not LEGO, but close enough). Hope you enjoy it.

I called LEGO Shop at Home to ask and they said they said the set is retired, they have none and will not be getting any more. Congrats to those who loaded up on this one. (For the record I have none, wanted none (personal preference) but I am happy for those who do it should provide a great return)

I think you're going to be in for a long, frustrating day. In any given city-wide or regional sale of this type, the chances of you running across a motivated collector willing to pay market (or slightly below market) prices is likely to be very low. And, although you are not paying eBay or Amazon fees, your costs in whatever you purchase for your booth/table set up and your time are real - you may find it was actually cheaper (and certainly less time-intensive) to sell on eBay or Amazon. If you decide to go through with it, I'd load up on a lot of very cheap items that might appeal to the parents of the children you will attract - your booth will probably be a hot favorite with the kids, but for actual money made I'm doubtful. If you're interested in selling to your local market, Craigslist is probably a much better bet - less time consuming (generally) and local collectors are much more likely to check there from time to time. If you're interested in the whole face-to-face aspect of commerce, see if there's an AFOL event coming up anywhere near you - a booth there with competitively priced items should do much better. Best of luck to you, and if you go forward I hope I'm horribly wrong and sales are terrific all day.

This is the perfect set to box up your inventory of, put away, and forget for eight to ten years. Massive investment volume will hurt this model in the short and medium time frames... But as a long-term HOLD this has all the ingredients: iconic/timeless model, no remake potential, displays beautifully and the details are extraordinary. It will take time but the last guy holding this in inventory is going to be sitting on a gold mine.

I have very strong access to the Tumbler as I travel daily for business and have access to seven B&M stores in So. Cal. And AZ. For those interested.... In last two weeks: Three flips @$290, Craigslist One @ $250 to fellow Brickpicker who caught me traveling at THE right time, Two more inventoried to sell, and will continue to acquire as Holidays near. There are multiple Craigslist Tumbler listings that are keeping these below three hundred a unit- should get higher returns in less metropolitan areas, and much higher as holidays approach.

There is a good chance this will retire by the end of the year or soon after 10155: this was the most recent maesrk container ship. According to brickset it was only available from January 2011 - July 2011. 10219: this was the maersk train. brickset says it was available Apr 2011 - 17 Nov 2012 So the last ship was around for 0.5 years and the train 1.5 years. It makes sense for the train to be around longer since the train heads would view it as another train they need. But the ships I think won't last as long as the trains. Market is a lot smaller since the main type of Lego ships is pirate ships, which 10241 isn't even close though. I suppose if someone wanted to recreate somalia then they would need the maesrk ship for their pirate ships to attack, but the scenario is more funny than likely I thinks

I BL'd mine for a shade over $800. This was all new parts, no used. I did not want off white parts included in my TM. I did make a large order with LEGO Shop at Home on parts that were in large quantity such as the turnstyle base in white and also the yellow technic parts since they go for a ton on BL because of being in 10179. I do not have manuals at this time but am always looking for a set to complete my TM. I missed a set on ebay a while ago and a crappy set went for over $100 on BL.

If it's still built then take the manual and unbuild it right there to verify what is or isn't missing and to verify all pieces are legit.

Just print out a high def image and compare to the set. The most common missed pieces are the tops of each of the towers. If it's a good price, don't obsess over missing pieces, just buy it.

I'm a Yankee hater - the 1998 World Series still stings. But, I've been a career-long fan of Jeter. I actually got the chance to meet him back in 1998, when the Yankees came to San Diego and played a couple of preseason games here against the Padres, and at San Diego State (I was attending there at the time). One of my prized possessions is an autographed Jeter baseball from that weekend. He is classy, and he played the game the old school way. When I went to Cooperstown in 2007 to see Gwynn get inducted, there were 120,000 people. And both Ripken and Gwynn had played their entire careers for one team. At the time, I said the next time Cooperstown would see a crowd like that would probably be the last time, and it would be Jeter. Even 7 years ago, there was only one player that you could point to, to say "he is a future HOF'er, who played for the same team his entire career." Cooperstown will be nuts 5 1/2 years from now.

You can put your own terms, they just don't matter if the customer files something. Case can be opened up to 90 days and paypal will be moving to 180 day returns. You can combat some by putting in a restock fee into your terms. It sometimes discourages the buyer from it but then you run the risk of a low DSR / Bad feedback etc. Safest way you could kind of "pick your buyer" is saying they were $800 at Xmas just put a higher BIN with best offer. Not something to high as you want to get offers but not low enough it will get hit to quickly. You can then do some research on the person who made the offer. Look at feedback amount (most all negative/neutral feedback comes from buyers with under 50 feedback, close to 50% of what I have tracked over the years) Buying activity (make sure its not the first purchase in a long time by the buyer) Feedback left for others (most troublesome users have a pattern of leaving high amounts of neutrals and negatives when they don't get there way) Length of ebay account being open If the user name has changed the last 30 days

Went to Lego B&M St Louis today. They had 4 Tumblers. I walked out with one I got for $94 after cashing in my $110 in VIP points. The guy even said "good thing you got it when you did, it's going to be $800 on ebay at christmas." I just laughed and pretended like "who would do such a thing?!"

I think the only time not to use them is when you are earning double or triple VIP points on all cash spent.
