I'm really surprised that this set didn't last through October 31st. Seeing that it is a Halloween set, I would have thought that lego would have kept it until then.3 points

The Lego Starwars 10143 Death Star II is an iconic Lego set that most of us know. I have been on the lookout for this for quite awhile and whenever i saw one i couldn't get it for a right price or i got sold under my nose again. Yesterday i lost another auction on this set so i decided to start Bricklinking it. I wan't to see how much its gonna cost me to collect all the part. At first i'm going to try to keep it to Dutch stores only and i'm already 2.000+ bricks in. The reason i decided to start this topic is that perhaps you guys like to follow the process, i will keep updating this topic till this set is standing at my desk! (I'm going to try at least ) Tell me if you guys like the idea, if it is worth updating on haha. Currently working on sorting the parts using Brickstore. Collecting Bricklink Carts in seperate files.2 points

Ya I phoned Lego, I changed my address to include a Box # (I recently got a new one) and the girl on the phone said that their system doesn`t liek it because they don`t ship to PO Boxes in Canada. She said the status should change within 24-48 hours (we removed the PO Box from the address). So, no ban for me, not yet at least haha.2 points

Obviously there is more money to be made on holding these sets long-term, but not everyone can afford to have their money tied up that long. Everyone has a different budget for this. The point I was trying to make is that if anolian had access to multiples of this set and couldn't afford to hold them all long-term, he might as well buy the rest and flip them now for $60-80 profit each (according to his calculations). Ed's advice is spot on though for making the most bank. He's been doing this a long time and the man knows his stuff.2 points

Triple VIP points and the Holiday promo set #2 were an awesome combo from LEGO. The Walmart Black Friday 30% specials were pretty good since some sets were already discounted. I scored a decent supply of Uruk-Hai Army and Power Armor Lex for nearly 50% off.2 points

I recently returned all of these I bought. I have a feeling I will not regret that. Bought another R2 with the money.2 points

I want want want this: A City set with a zoo theme. Big $100 zoo set Smaller sets could be: Reptile house Monkey house African savanna (another big set) Merry go round Gift shop Zoo train Petting zoo Could even have real small sets for: Hotdog stand Popcorn cart Animal packs until you run out This is a city theme that they could retire sets as they introduce new animals. If they relaunch things every few years like a monkey house have different monkeys and drive the value of the old sets The kids love the animals and try to make their own zoo stuff we just don't have enough2 points

The announcement is that after months of extensive surveillance Lego has finally found every reseller and is preparing to exterminate all at once with one big swoop of the hammer.2 points

STAR WARS and City sets have remakes all the time. That is because LEGO wants to reintroduce these popular sets to a new group of kids on an annual basis. LEGO has worked this way for the past 15 years...at least. If they remake the 10179, so what? It's time, isn't it? The new movies are coming out and the Falcon is in it. It would be foolish not to reproduce the best LEGO set ever made. This has zero bearing on any of the hundreds of other top sets that will never be reproduced.2 points

I shared my Printable LEGO Label collection with many of you in the past, but I wanted to let you know that I just completed a large update which includes many common Technic parts. I got a *lot* of comments and emails indicating that you want more labels, so I hope you enjoy. A sample of the new Technic labels. The labels look great on any organization system. I should have been clearer. I would either sell right away, or be prepared to wait an extra year or so. It easily could regain any lost ground price-wise. Personally, if I could get $35-40 for each polybag, I would sell. This mini set isn't really being advertised by LEGO so it's hard to know how many new customers are seeing it. Somebody would already have to be interested in the full size one enough to add it to their cart in order to see this promo.1 point

Close. I had to have hxckidd flex his muscles. He then proceeded to state: "i pick things up, I put them down." That's when they handed everything over.1 point

so you're a financial economist now? jeez. if less people flipped during the 1st year, prices will rise faster. the demand is already there but the supply wouldn't be.1 point

I think anybody who sells there Haunted Houses to make just $60 or so is making a huge mistake, why would you even think doing that would be a wise deal. Wait a year or so and should bring in big bucks, as you will never see this set ever again. But everybody has there point of cracking to make a few bucks on hold on and make big money. Ed1 point

I love to do both with LEGO. If I could make $60-80 on this set today and had access to a decent supply of them I would probably flip half of them to help pay for the ones I would keep long-term. Obviously there is more money to be made if you hold onto them longer, but you have to determine what you can afford to do and come up with a strategy based on that.1 point

There was no 50% off on black friday last year or any year that I can remember. Walmart was 30% off from 8am-2pm, but it went live the night before. That was a BF sale that I hadn't seen before and was effectively a pre-xmas clearance sale. It is funny to hear people talk about last year so fondly. I recall many people bitching about how lame the deals were. IMHO the better sales were before BF or maybe right after. TRU and Target had some sales on discounted sets that added up to 50% or more. Who knows what this year will bring.1 point

For Karma's sake, I would fully disclose that the set is bricklinked and has a custom/non-original sticker if you choose to sell. Always pays to be honest.1 point

I prefer the old style rigging to that on the new ships, especially the foresail, the old versions with rigging "string" going from stem to stern was far superior aesthetically and more true to a real ships rigging. Caribbean Clipper is my favorite of all time, then Original Imperial flagship, Black Seas Barracuda, then newer Imperial Flagship-which ranks lower just because of its new style rigging, which I did change out. But it would be awesome if we see some retro imperial soldiers, bluecoats, but unlikely. There have been so many awesome ships over the years its almost impossible for lego to outdo the earlier versions. The sea cow is awesome as its rigging reminds me of the Maltese Falcon, the biggest fanciest most expensive sailing vessel ever conceived, with unstayed masts and no running rigging of any kind.1 point

I have a feeling that the intermittent status is due to small pockets of stock being located. However I was informed that it would be back for Halloween, so we just see one more factory run.1 point

I'm not saying the polybag itself is poor selling, I'm saying that you can't derive anything from sales by what polybags are given away. The conspiracy theorists think that a batch of mini T1's showed up to boost sales of the Camper, and I'm calling their bluff by saying that if this was the case, you would see Galaxy Squad and Chima polybags in your checkout all the time since they blow compared to other lines that don't need help selling like Star Wars and SuperHeroes.1 point

I hope it's a fake... Although the piece that is used behind the 4 is one that is consistently used with Bionicle sets. My only thought is, it's a sad day when a Bionicle announcement is considered "huge"...1 point

Stopped by a TRU today hoping to find Hobbit sets and there were 5 of the theaters out already. I passed as they were $19.99 each and I have no interest in them, but I thought some of your might like to know they are in the wild.1 point
-
I don't trust this... we're all hoping for something "huge" now but in the end it will only be something like "there will be new bionicle! there will be the new elves theme! we have a new cuusoo winner!" nobody else has got this bad feeling about it?1 point

Man, this really is one of the better series with such a diverse selection in likeable characters. There is just so much army building potential and look at all those new parts! Wizard: classic wizard's cap (about time) Hun Warrior: headgear, cape Fairytale Princess: royal cap with hair Battle Goddess: headgear with hair, dress 'step' skirt Space Miner: helmet (another design, yes!) Prospector: hat Dino Tracker: long ponytail hair Rock Star: sweet f'ing guitar! Piggy Guy: headgear Genie Girl: hair (same as Dino Tracker) Spooky Girl: hair (the 'cut' is different) It will be unfortunate if Lego continues with the their $4 retail but then again after how slow The Simpsons moved at that price to where the regular retailers quickly lowered it back to the $3 price tag after the release, this may not be much of a problem to worry about. At least one good thing from The Simpsons minifigures I was really hoping would find its way into other designs are the molded shirt sleeves (and ergo the legs too for future designs I imagine). These are perfect on the Pizza Delivery Guy who I need a few for my own pizzeria and the Video Game Guy that doesn't look anything like the DJ save for having the same hairpiece but in a different color. I'm not surprised with a male companion to the original female Lifeguard not as if anyone should actually. Lego has a pattern of making a male or female version of an earlier design to go opposite of it. (Just look at all the skaters and snowboarders/skiers.) The Rock Star is pretty sweet especially for KISS fans as he is more heavy metal inspired whereas the Rocker Girl was 80's New Wave and the Punk Rocker was just that. It's nice to see the Girl Genie and I think I like her better than the male counterpart although he looked like the one from Disney1 point
