I just picked up a ginormous lot off of CL for $300. The pics were terrible and the listing was up for a few days. Usually I get no reply when answering an ad on cl so I was surprised to get a message back. So far I have a complete Black pearl, QAR, and imperial flagship. I also found a complete Garmadons fortress and clone turbo tank 8098. I found most of a 8097 slave 1 and all the figures. I really need about a week off now to go through all this.7 points

this sets been out for 43 days. i have 40 and will buy another 10. i bought into this set thinking i would be holding until EOL which will probably be 1 year judging by the delorean which sold out at shop at home today. its kind of silly to prognosticate about the value of a set that hasn't gone EOL and was available today for like 10 hours from the worlds largest online retailer 4 cents below msrp. its kinda like saying - hey why hasn't that captain america vs hydra doubled in money yet. this set is just sulking in the shadow of the RI which is an anomalous event.3 points

Masters of the Universe immediately came to mind when I saw the title of this thread. That would be a double dose of nostalgia!2 points

BP shows a value around $35k (a couple sets weren't found, so rounding up for that). Would not be worth it at the current asking price to resell with all those different individual sets to have to deal with, but nice for a personal collection at that price. TOTAL $34,832 CL-Lot9.xlsx2 points

I watched BTTF part I and part II last night (for the zillionth time). Lets be fair, the movies are awesome. It is timeless. It is great. wonderful music. I believe it is for every age. A large fanbase. I never met anyone who did not like the movies. This set will do good for sure. Just I guess after EOL we need to wait at least 2 X-masses for the stock hoarded by investors to dry up. After that it is cash time.2 points

Exo may be around for a while longer who knows, but both RI and EXO and Ecto 1 are all on the thou shall not discount list. So you will not see them cheaper than MSRP of 19.95, 34.95 and 49.95 respectively barring some gift card deal. Of note however they are the only items on this list without limits specified which is very interesting. BTTF Delorean is not on this list.2 points

That set is decent. I actually like a couple of the new Chimas. The fire ones are awesome. I am still (trying) maintaining that Chima will eventually catch on and take off. I think those fire sets could do it. They are kinda awesome.2 points

The reason you don't use your VIP points during a 2X event is the number of of VIP points you receive will be based on the number of $$$ you spend. If you use $30 in VIP points on a $150 modular, you'll only be spending $120, therefore only receiving 240 VIP points. If you just buy it straight up, you'll receive 300 VIP points to use later. That's why I'd use your VIP points now and get yourself 2 promos, the Spaceman and the Chima Fire Bike.1 point
-
Another thing, if you have VIP points to burn, you might want to consider using them now, before double and triple VIP hits in October & November. The first part of November might also be a good time, since if triple VIP hits, it probably won't be until Black Friday weekend.1 point

I'm surprised that the set grew in value so quickly. I was expecting the set would be valued around $250-$275 by this Christmas 2014. Maybe we could see a jump in prices this Christmas to around $325-$350.1 point

And this is what is wrong with ebay. If he's throwing the box away then why does it matter? That is why they have you rate your sellers, not to gouge them out of money. Either return it or keep it. If he asked for a partial I'd tell him to send it back.1 point

Everyone, enough with the ethical this or that. That is not what this site is about and not really what most of us come here to read. Please keep this on track or the thread will be in danger of being locked for good and I don't want to do that. Over time, it will be interesting to see what happens with this set. Please think before you hit the submit button to see if it is adding anything of value to the thread before doing so. Thank you.1 point

I returned 6 of these today. Why? Because I had something better to invest in and it turned it to not be as hot as I thought it would be. At this point having 20+ of them is above my risk level. It's asinine to say returning something is unethical as it's an option the store offers its customers. No questions asked returns. If they offer it then how can that be taken advantage of?1 point

The seller's packing job sucks, but if you're opening the set like you said then this is a non-issue.1 point

Maybe. The other option is that stomp the crap out of it and then ship it to you.1 point

This is cooler than any $50 set this side of the Exo Suit or Ecto 1.1 point

Perhaps this is a geeat time to say, "thank you Target and Walmart for being human and making pricing errors on lego sets"1 point
-
It WAS a pricing error. A discount shows the original price on the page while a pricing error is one that shows just one price, that is also am incorrect one.1 point

i am . you have to be optimistic if you are going to invest in lego at all. i also have a 2000 sq foot temperature controlled storage room and abundant patience. i also have zero expectation to make any profit on a set when its still available for sale at walmart, target, amazon. its going to take some time to clear out stock but if you have the 24-48 month horizon i think you will be rewarded. i bought a bunch more of these tonight and now i'm hoping that wm goes out of stock on these and there is a quick clean EOL.1 point

If you have that many, I`d return them and put the capital elsewhere. Seems like the heat has gone out of this set, at least for now, it will likely go up over Christmas, but with the quantity that resellers appear to have, maybe not enough to justify keeping. That said, you may be able to sell them for $50ish over Christmas and make a few bucks on each, got to decide if that is what you want or not.1 point

What are your and everyones thoughts on flipping or holding the Tumbler? eBay had some at 300 or under but is going up again. The LEGO Shop at Home website says in stores in October so it does not discuss online. Most Lego stores are very clear that they will not mail order ship the tumbler and either pickup in store or order online which you cannot right now. My first reaction was flip. Though when I see them I probably will want to keep one. Appreciate your advice and others...1 point

It's the perfect time to retire. This holiday season will wipe out 1/3 of those sellers and by next Christmas it will be more manageable. I'm just saying that by next year holiday season it should be an easy double after online seller fees.1 point

They will either both be back, or neither will be. Or one will be back and one will not. Or both will be back briefly and then discontinued again. Or Exo will be and not RI or vice versa. There will either be one or more production runs of both, either, neither or no more runs of one or the other or both. It is likely that I will buy between 0 and 100 more of both. Prices will likely remain the same for RI, increase if supply is low, or decrease upon multiple more runs. For Exo the outlook looks the same. Mark my words, put it in the bank. My Lego manager insider told me, his wife plays bridge with the wife of a guy who works on the board of directors of some place that knows the CEO.1 point

Was last years SW Advent Calendar selling out an American thing? I'm damn sure these were on the shelves well into 2014 here in Canada, and I even remember them being marked down at the LEGO store here in town and at TRU.1 point

Yeah not including AS with the possible error in the book or the delay to produce a second edition of the book. Waiting for JA to tell me to move this to the AS thread ;)1 point

Can everyone start also including what their item sold for. I speak for many when I say that I really don't care what you sold as much as how much it sold for. Thanks!1 point
