I popped into Wal-Mart where I've been watching some older sets for discounts. They have an entire 2-sided isle of legos marked down and an additional 50% off the marked price. I spent $2000, but scored 10 Lego 9398 for $45 each; 3 Millenium Falcons for $32 each; SW Jek 14 $15 each; and 5 Goblin Attack Sets for $22 each. I also grabbed a bunch of smaller sets for kid's Christmas gifts. I broke the bank, but I'm set for Christmas selling. The only set I left behind was TMNT Shell Raiser. I figure if they have to discount them when the new movie just came out than TMNT must be a loser. Now I have to bust the blow dryer to pull off the clearance stickers without damaging the sets.2 points

I thought this was always referred to as the "Ex-wife set" in the collector's circle?2 points

Finally received my exosuits. Seals 33S4 as many other european BP. These are not glued or anything (I'm talking about seals, not brickpickers). Maybe it's because of the seal itself ? Sort of "manufacturing defect" of the seals ? (my sets have been ordered a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...) I like it side by side with the white astronaut set. I'll definitely pair them together if I can, as planned since day one. Yes but unfortunatelly when you put a stock photo, some people think it's more appealing and "professional" so they are tempted to buy it. What's important is to specify that it's new, sealed and you put an actual photo (so people can't say "hey there's a little scratch on the front, refund me !"). An actual photo, but a great one (without an hideous kitchen tablecloth below). It's some psychological stuff but it helps because it's both good looking and serious.2 points

Wait for someone to buy it. Wouldn't surprise me at all. It will be on Pawn Stars next week and Rick will offer a dollar for it.2 points

I'm sorry but this thread needed to be resurrected for the following auction. This is awesome. Only asking $500 OBO. Hey, it just be a deal since AFA "U" graded it. Yes folks, someone mailed AFA an unopened Batman JetSki poly and paid them to open, build, grade, and encase it. Who the heck pays another person to build a Lego set. Jeez. Don't get me started... u grade. JOKE. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-mini-figure-vehicle-BATMAN-with-JetSki-were-graded-/301290180515?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item46264b4fa3 Update : I hope the flippers and flick missile heads fall off the BatSki. Oh, I'm livid.2 points

Why put the add for buying lego? It usually attracts 'dump lots'. May look good but wait till you dig in. There are plenty of adds out there of people selling their lego because their kid got tired of it and it has been collecting dust since. I like the idea of some sort of business cards better. You go visit people that you buy some second hand lego from and if the lego looks decent, you give them a card. One condition, both buyer and seller need to have the feeling that they're actually making a good deal and not being ripped off. I encountered alot of soccermoms or families selling the lego of their kids. 2 weeks ago I met a Turkish woman that sold 4842 Hogwarts Castle for 85,52 points

Thanks! I was shaking when I loaded the sets into 4 very full carts. Associates were taking Falcons fresh from the boxes and marking them with clearance stickers. I asked them to just just put them into my cart. I tried to leave as fast as I could because I felt like somebody was going to say they were kidding and hadn't meant to mark thing down. I never use my credit card, but I did for this one. I couldn't help myself. I do have a couple of Chima sets that could be a gamble, but they were just so cheap.1 point

I grabbed one off Sears at retail and one at $510. The retail one shipped and the other one came back as "out of inventory." Then the seller jacked the price and re-listed it at over $900. At least I got one.1 point

I can't begin to describe how devastated I am to see that this abomination is the Holloween set for this year. Putting aside for a moment the ill-advised move from polybags to boxes for seasonal issues, this set is purely horrid. They had a chance to make something neat with 150 or so pieces and this is what they came up with? A Donnie Darko bunny? Seriously, this has been a bad year for Lego IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. I have really hated this year of Lego issues.1 point

It should be retired by December with prices rising but why do you think it will hit such lofty heights so soon? Aquaman is rumoured to be in a JL set next year. Mr Freeze and Arctic Batman surely won't return Wolverine or Deadpool money. I can see it doubling by Christmas but struggle to see it making much more.1 point

I don't know if it's going to burn me at some point, but I usually take photos of one box out of however many I'm selling, and use that for my listing. I put in the auction that the photo is representative of the set you're going to receive, and that all boxes potentially have some amount of normal shelf wear. If a box is particularly beat up I'll take separate photos of it and create a new listing.1 point

Now we are on the same page. My post was about what was done to a sealed ploy set with the U grade. I was "livid" about the toy plus AFA U and not the auction itself. People can list items for whatever they want. Now if I was typing "Hulk Smash" then that's rage. Ha Thanks for rereading the post.1 point

So I figure I'd post an update to my earlier haul shown above. I did a "Round 1" sort through it, where I generally group easily identified themes, brick types, and pulling Minifigs. I think I made out pretty good on Minifigs alone. Plenty of StarWars stuff (a lot that I have to lookup & identify). I figure I'll find a lot of individual arms & accessories as I get down to the bottom of the bins... Here's a few pictures of the highlights: It's a shame the guys at the bottom right have red marker on them: I think these are all from the Black Pearl set (not sure about guy on the left): Incomplete (Good for parts): And noteworthy (in my opinion) accessories:1 point

True and MISB or NISB should be close to the same. While I guess the symptom we have here looks more like the seal is being tempered as the seal slided a bit and leaving glue/dirt residue behind. Or I can always say the exo-suit can't wait to jump out lol.1 point
-
Honestly trying to sell something as MISB is overrated. You can usually get the same amount as NISB. I don't sell anything "MINT" thats boxed because someone will always find a reason its not mint enough for them.1 point

Yeah, I saw this on RebelScum originally. Didn't someone make it? Where's GhostDad? We need this authenticated to see if it's legit :)1 point

Ditto that. And if it isn't a real thing one of us needs to start production on it immediately!1 point

It's interesting they are still making sets from the trilogy that shall not be named. With the new movie late next year why waste time with useless sets like that?1 point
-
For someone with a small brickfolio, no interest in building the exo suit and an aversion to risk, is it probably a good idea to rid myself of my 2 exo suits (possibly returning them?). It looks like there will be ample supply of these and I'd rather have the money tied up in Santa's workshop, etc.1 point

I think you do not know a bit about the toys and injection molding business , recovering the investment for a new line it is never a matter of months and it is not only the investment in molds, but production lines, packaging development, marketing, product license, and a whole lot of other stuff that it is impossible to recover all that in less than a year..... Take it from me , I worked 5 years for Mattel and now I own and injection molding business....1 point

One of my co-workers, knowing that I'm a big collector of Lego, actually handed me a physical copy of USA today with this cover article. He is now retired. First physical newspaper I had touched in years. Anyway, that was when I first heard about Brickpicker and then checked out the website. Then I forgot about this site. Then, a few months ago, I read a post on Brickset Forum complaining about Brickpicker. Then I signed up and started browsing regularly. Then I realized Ed Mack and Jeff Mack were the guys on the cover. It only took me two and a half years.1 point

Can you please document the Production Date Stamp Code on the Scotch Tape Seals from your box? We can perhaps isolate a batch that had this problem. This can be handy for you to avoid the ones with the wrong pieces, or heck even help folks who might want to chase a variation of the set Example if you see 12R4 that means the set was produced the 12th week of 2014.1 point

For the last few years i have bought a couple of every set i have been buying - mainly smaller SW and superhero sets and flipping them quite quickly to fund my personal collection of lego. Now want to invest a little more and have been staring at 2 SSD in my bag on the UK lego site for the last few hours - just nervous about the out lay. Just need a bit of encouragement to hit the buy button. I know it is a good investment just a big jump for me.1 point

You have some balls, my friend. Big balls. You may not want to order anything else for a while. It would be a shame for you to just be starting out and aleady be banned. Buy sets here and there for a few years, THEN get banned. You at least should get some mileage out of the website before you go out in a blaze of glory.1 point

I am not too bothered by this. In reality, all bricks of a house aren't the exact same tone either. By all means, buy a Pet Shop and build it. Great set! Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Brickpicker1 point

Both lines are crap. I could not sell the sets for 2x MSRP when they were still in production. Blah blah blah boring, blah blah blah small, blah blah blah brown * *The last set I criticized / blasted did rather well after EOL.. so here is hoping1 point

I don't agree. There are a lot of good playsets and army building sets in the series. Attaching Helms Deep to Uruk-hai army, or the 2 Dol Guldur sets was inspired. I've bought 4 of the Mirkwood Elf army sets so that I can make a giant fort, and even bought 4 discounted Attack of the Wargs so that I can (1) have a Warg hunting pack, and (2) attach the trees to some megablock Halo green baseplates to make a forest to separate my Ewok village from my Endor bunker. The Mines of Moria, Pirate ship, Unexpected Gathering, and Orthanc are all fantastic sets on their own. Even Weathertop is pretty good and has some exclusive sets. I like the variety myself. This has been a fun theme for me to build as well as a profitable one to sell. Once it's done I'll need a new theme to complete my trifecta with Star Wars and Super-heroes. That will probably be when I get into modular sets.1 point

You did...and I quote... "LEGO is watching this and other sites like a hawk. The ban hammer will start to fall faster and more often in the coming months. They are protecting their brand so be cautious. Your friends may actually be your enemies." Please, do not make unsubstantiated comments like this. If you have some pertinent information to share and some proof to back it up...fell free to do so.1 point

I have been looking for a place to post this lately and looks like I can do it here...........It absolutely makes my blood boil when someone doesn't leave feedback. I would have at least 50 more feedbacks if everyone left feedback like they were supposed to do. In my mind its part of the purchase agreement!! DAMN YOU LAZY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!1 point

Haha Mine normally come in droves like that too. Hopefully it ends soon for you. Summer and x-mas buyers always cause problems1 point
