  1. Ok, special note to self. Make sure joyjoy and MartinP don't do any math things for the site

I have much to be thankful for. I'm starting this thread to give public acknowledgements to a few members who have helped me become a better investor by sharing their insights and wisdom, helped me find exclusive deals, shared breaking news on anything LEGO, or supported a good cause. Feel free to acknowledge someone here that has gone out of there way to help you or someone else in the Brickpicker community. I don't say thank you enough so this is a chance for me to show my appreciation. So to kick things off, here are just a few members I'd like to thank. @Ed and @Jeff - what can I say? This site is amazing. You guys do a phenomenal job moderating the forums. The information is invaluable to anyone who is obsessed with the LEGO investing hobby, myself included. @No More Monkeys - for keeping us informed of what's in stock any time of day or night. @33Lego - like NMM, thank you for posting what's available in basically real time. @emazers - for sharing your wisdom and investing philosophy. @exciter1 - for welcoming me to the site and encouraging me by answering some of my earlier posts @Bold Arrow - for letting me sit at the bar that one night...and thank you for posting so many great deals, AWD included @xeeej - for hooking us up with some amazing gift card deals this year. And finally, a special thanks to everyone who helped Gavin celebrate his birthday earlier this year. The Brickpicker community is one of a kind, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
  3. Lots of cool features in this set. The ship even includes a sleeping quarters. I love that the captain comes with a cup of coffee. Take a look.
  4. True dat! One man's trash is another man's shipping and packing material.
  5. I don't recall authorizing your PTO, step into my office after you are all caught up.
  6. Ummm I do. [emoji6] Edit... Emazers would he good for writing and article too.... We should both write it on an iPhone
  7. The think this NYT writer is a reseller trying to drive the price up.
  8. Darth Revan - $30 Iron Patriot - $33
  9. Ok, I guess maybe I am doing the equation incorrectly. I am dividing 16,000 / 23,261 = .687= .$.69 per brick? Am I doing the math wrong?

Thought these were quite cool http://imgur.com/a/gh79J
  11. I can't believe we're discussing the little Trooper set as a reason why the DS won't retire. We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. A $12 battle pack is not a gateway to a $400 playset; it's a way to get some "army" minifigs out there. Clones, battle droids, Imperial whatevers, Hoth rebels, Endor rebels
  12. the Brickshow and its founders are respected entities in the Lego world .
  13. After many years as strictly a buyer of Lego related goods, I sold my first sets today! 2 of them to the same buyer, a Curiosity Rover and a Research Institute. A nice healthy return on both, the Rover I got a really good number on. All in all very happy! Thanks to the fantastic members here for all the advice and info I`ve learned over the last 1.5 years, very grateful to all of you!
  14. Should be in the GE retirement forum. It was member "Biniou" who created/designed it. It is on this page: http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/8285-10211-grand-emporium-eol/page-87
  15. Sorry, I forgot to use to use <sarcasm> </sarcasm> brackets.... Also, "runs around in a skimpy dress" - that started from Tinkerbell, and you know it
  16. I don't agree with this: "The company stirred excitement this month by offering a line aimed at girls called the
  17. Yeah, we should do it more often...
  18. I really, really enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy. Just loved its tone. To make a movie like that, you kind of have to be winking at the camera throughout. If you tried to make a SERIOUS movie with a talking raccoon, people would laugh you out of the theater. Look at what happened to Green Lantern. It tried to be serious, and it came across as unintentionally silly. I think that the test of a good movie is whether or not it accomplished what it was trying to be, and accomplished it well. That being said, you may just not care for the style, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. Guardians of the Galaxy seems to be universally liked, if not loved. My favorite comic movie of the year was Captain America: Winter Soldier. I thought that movie nailed everything just right. I liked X-Men Days of Future Past a lot, but I had a few plot problems with that one. That being said, I quite enjoyed it. I just LOVED Cap 2. Thought it was a nearly flawless movie. Loved, loved it.
  19. From our factory floor to ur door in 7 days.... Dude u need to copyright that ASAP. Sell it to like a floor company for a jingle
  20. Now, _that_ would be an amazing price - less than one cent per brick ...
  21. Whoa, that IS a good idea. I might have to stock up on some battle packs.
  22. Isn't it .68 cents per brick?
  23. Waddamon you are the script. Be the script. (Like in Caddyshack with be the ball).
  24. I think it was like this all the time. It still says "so we hope you will be able to secure these", which essentially can be read "if you are fast enough to beat these #$%#$ resellers."
  25. Are the people saying you have to have the Death Star available for the battle pack to sell the same people who insisted that you can't have the Rancor Pit for sale without Jabba's Palace being available at the same time?
  26. Just put all of those sets in a box and tape / seal it tight. Write on the box: Open in August, 2019 Note: this method may be very cruel for your children, as LEGO should be primarily used for building. :)
  27. That's true, but if a set doesn't grow in value like you wanted it to, you can always open the box and build the set. Lego sets are meant to be built in the first place.
  28. Avg joe/jane who buys one for their child/sibling/friend/grandmother/acquaintance/accountant/doctor and it goes on backorder. They may have found it in store and cancelled that order from LEGO Shop at Home . Or the even passed and they no longer want it. It may be hot to us and a vast majority of people but for some it's just... Might I say....plastic bricks. It's going to happen, whatever set it may be.
  29. I just checked the eBay sales and I couldn't believe how much the minifigs are going for. The average is almost $100 for the pair. I don't care about figs and it would be nice to have the tumbler for $100ish out of pocket.
  30. Joker and Batman Minifigs from the Tumbler for $99 in less then 12 hours. This and $10 in VIP Points, $15 for the Mini Poly and the Comic Book equals a good buy to me.
  31. Vertically, on dedicated shelves: You can put a sheet on it to avoid dust and a little sunfade
  32. First thing came to mind at The Unboxing stage was "How many more manuals is he going to whip out?". It certainly looks like a fun build and I just had to satiate my desire for these northern explorers by purchasing the smallest set for myself. I might open it tonight just to build something. I get antsy when I can't get a moment to create for a while.
  33. Here's the thing. It will become more difficult to obtain multiples of this set. Is a person going to risk a ban in the US to buy two or more? Everybody saw how difficult it becomes to buy these sets when the Brickpicker Effect is in full swing. Sets are gone in minutes when there is a fear of imminent EOL. Buy the 10188 now, then sit back and watch the madness knowing you have your stash safe and secure in your house. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker
  34. you will still make good money. I'd buy if I can afford to
  35. I kinda missed the boat on SSD, so I decided to buy some on eBay. So far, I've bought 3, pretty good boxes, for about $675 a piece shipped. I'm thinking of buying more...what do you guys think? I know that buying at this price, it would have to hit $900 or so, just to break even. I'm planning on holding on to these for at least three years or longer, and hoping to sell for around $1500...far fetch?
  36. This set is now listed as Retiring Soon. Do you have enough? I know this is quite a popular set and I honestly am very interested to see what happens with this thing. Buy From Amazon Buy From LEGO Buy From Walmart Buy From Target
  37. Picked up some complete modular buildings (pieces only) 10182 Caf
  38. honestly, its a mess, i don't have much lego in here. a Haunted House, a few smaller sets on my desk setup. Nothing like Ed's, but adding to it.
  39. you know you can just switch your country on Shop At Home to Australia. I looked at the AU prices but they scared me and I cried a little.
  40. If supraboy and christopherjb ever met face to face, it would cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's worst case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited merely to our own galaxy.
  41. Sold a 7573 Prince of Persia Battle of Alamut this evening.
  42. I love these forums!
  43. Looks like I will have to ban your dumbass again. Why can't you be an upstanding member like ChristopherJB!
  44. I'm sure some kids are seeing it, but my kids won't. Too dark at times, too much language and violence. I loved it, though. Just a little too much for kids in my opinion. I mean, groom impaled 30 people in that one scene.
