  1. Today I went to my parents house and got all of my old Legos. I had the foresight to organize very well before I stopped collecting. These sets are all from the late 80s and early 90s. Most of them are complete with instructions and boxes. There are also a bunch of old Lego Magazines in an envelope. I will be doing inventory, and some building as time permits. 2. I am both on and off topic in adding a few thoughts for those people that are upset. Guess what? I got 30 RI's and 16 Exo's. Guess what else? I am not a big time reseller. It is a hobby. I have a lot of fun with it. Most times I don't get tons of deals. What do I do with my Lego finds and profits if I am lucky enough to get in on a wave? I use it to collect for myself, to flip, to long term invest & appreciate. Why? To help make money in order to be able to feed my families Lego habits, other toys and not accumulate debt in the process. For those people who think I acquired too much? Guess what? I offered one member on here that I'll sell them a RI at cost + shipping and in fact that I'd probably take a raw loss on it by a few $ to even help them out. It was for their daughter as a present. Another brick picker is setting me up most likely with the 3 SDCC Lego mini sets from this year at a very fair price. Guess what I did? Offer him two RI's at my cost + shipping and that I'd take a few $ raw loss on it to help him out. I also just got hit with finding out tomorrow I either have a replacement engine in my relatively new car under warranty or I get an $8,000 bill. I do not have $8,000 out of the blue to pay for that and it would take a lot more than 30 RI's to cover that after sales, expenses & taxes. Yes we want to make money. That is being American. Yes we take care of our own. I've already planned to lose real $ on 3 of the 30 RI's that I have gotten. I care about people. I do not know what defines a large reseller or someone who thinks 30 RI's of 16 Exo's is a lot. I have worked very hard constantly monitoring brick picker and many other sites and staying up in the middle of the night to order them. Yes it is hard work. But yes I think you'll find many people here have a heart. I care. Most do. Be kind too. Rewind. Relax.

  3. While I do respect people's opinions, I would have personally kept this one to myself. If one suffers from degrees of mental illness like he did, there is no way you can comprehend what he did. You were not him and have no idea what he went through in his life dealing with it. I am not sticking up for or agreeing with his actions, but I am not going to judge him or anyone else. P.S. I will probably be locking this thread soon since I already have the gut feeling it will go downhill very soon.

  5. Since nobody else seems to want to... (we all know people are getting the email notifications). Supraboy888 is an ex-user from the Vancouver area who boasted time and again about all the good deals he was getting (mostly illegally by failing to declare what he was bringing back at the Can-US border). He then spoke grandiose tales of selling his goods for small fortunes on Kijiji and other local selling sites/markets. When he sold a $20 set for $40 it was $25 of pure profit. (math mistake intentional) But his most famous quote (paraphrased of course) was that he could sell his goods out of his trunk in the TRU parking lot anytime anyplace for more than MSRP like "hotcakes". He has been banned and I can't remember what thread famous brag that was in. I don't remember exactly why he was banned other than he was just a real d*** in the forums. He stills sells locally on Kijiji and from what I understand he sells for quite small margins. I can't speak if you're truly selling them for the markup you've said (only you know the truth) but people are just reminiscing at your expense about a fool of a member. I think the advice here is .. be humble, don't act like a Supraboy888 and we'll all just get along. PS Vancouver does seem like a very good resellers market. There is definitely the population to support some large scale reselling so I'm not doubting you've scored some good deals. Sounds like you're piggybacking your costs onto some business expenses (i.e. gas $) but it never goes over well when people claim it costs them nothing to score such good deals... At a minimum takes "time" which is something not every member has in boat loads, or trunks full.

  9. I try to be somewhat tactful when I discuss how many sets I buy. It is possible that some members could be less boastful, but the site is about investing and "reselling" so I guess it has its place. The Exo Suit has stirred up some pent up anger and jealousy from certain traditional LEGO fans and collectors. They direct their anger towards our site and members and many of these elitist hypocrites like to preach about resellers as being the antichrists of the LEGO world. Most of us here are bigger fans of LEGO sets than many who condemn us. It used to really bother me, but after watching the site grow over the past three years, I realize that most LEGO fans have an interest in how valuable their LEGO collection is, regardless if they are resellers or not. People care about their value and how to save a buck or two and that is who makes up our membership, not the vocal minority of heavy duty resellers that sometimes dominate the forums. The Exo Suit will be back in stock at some point and things will quiet down again...until the next hot set comes along, then all Hell will break loose once again. Hopefully more people will learn from this experience and realize it takes some effort at times to acquire a popular item and to prepare a gameplay to do so. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker

  11. OK got it down. Thanks for patience. Box, Open Box, Stack of 21 super, stack of 9 damaged, and 2 photos of the worst of the 9, only 2 were like this, the others much better. It will nose-dive a little I imagine, want to move them out but not crazy. Will sell the 9 damaged at a discount, have 3 for fellow BP'ers that asked and will sell 10-12 of the remaining 18 great shape ones and then hold the rest.

  12. Tears are welling up in my eyes. Door to door, border to border, post to post, parking lot to parking lot, frying pan to drowned in butter & syrup, resellers cannot be stopped!

  14. In all it's glory. You can see where the gap is missing in the back of the red wedges. Can be solved with a red 2x1 if you don't want exact. Swapped out Robin's arms to light flesh ones with green gloves to better match the 60's outfit. There are no light flesh legs though. Get on that Juniors set people, cause it's gonna be gone before you know it! Thank you again TOK for putting all of this together~!

  16. I always sort by type using the bricklink categories as a guide. It's very easy to find a black 2x2 corner plate in a sea of similar type/size plates. It's hard to find the same piece in a sea of black.

  17. Some time ago I would have said, start by sorting by color. Now I think it might be better to start sorting by type of brick. It is later easier to find a red brick in a pile of some-color bricks, than finding that red brick in a pile of other red stuff.

  19. Picked this up yesterday locally. Didn't have instructions, but had the box (strange) and is missing a few pieces. They were asking $65, but took $50 right away when I offered. Would have liked to have gotten it for a little cheaper, but seems like a decent buy.

  20. We need a thread to reminisce in at least. I really miss those threads where a certain member would buy every piece of clearance he could then the next day post regretful pictures of his way too full house and wonder what happened. Or the boastful tales of returning mountains of product to the LEGO just to "stick it to the man" because ponytail wouldn't help him out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Brickpicker mobile app

  27. Funny you mention that because I came across something where a guy goes around to various fast food chains to see if they can make the food look like what is shown on the menu or commercials. Plenty of the comments on YouTube left below it are humorous too. There is a point where we can't really expect something to look precisely as good as it does in the ad but you should end up with something that actually does resemble in some way what you paid for.

  30. I usually get most of my minifigures from Target because they seem to be the only consistent source in my area. They also seem to randomly get in past series. I just picked up two Series 8 figures yesterday, last week I found a case of movie figures and a few weeks ago they got in 2 cases of Series 9. Something I've noticed is that Targets with certain layouts seem to get the minifigures. We have two types of Targets in my area, one where the Toy Section is immediately on your left when you walk in the store, and the other where it's in the back middle of the store. I've NEVER seen minifigures at the first type, only at the second type. I'm just curious if any one else noticed this or I'm just crazy.

  40. i hope that we can move past the who "bought how many sets" discussion, as will be going around in circles. for of those of you that were here back then it was a similar discussion when TRU had the VC @ $78. Anyways I really just wanted to touch on what Treckgate posted. there are a lot of very helpful members on this site that will help out other members get a hard to find/in demand set. Darin -and his 40$ MoM come to mind- and now Treck. This is a great community and if you need a set , try to ask and you might (or not) find someone who will help you out. Also the trade forum is a great tool to utilize , take advantage of it Good luck and happy hunting

  41. Nicely put, sir!! Man, I could only afford to get one of each but that's fine......cause that's all I could afford right now. I give props to the people who were able to get a bunch. Maybe after I build up funds and reinvest I'll be able to accumulate more. It's all good and I'm being patient as well. I don't need or want to get in too deep over my head. Well done everyone. For those who scored, congrats. For those who didn't, keep trying. I didn't get mine at the crack of dawn when these were released. I waited like a week after they were released and I was still able to get my order in......let's see if it actually process though.......

  42. I recently had the same situation. My dad is selling the house so I had to get the legos out or he'd be giving them away. My old sets are all futuron, blacktron, pirates and a few castle. In my memory I'd had the foresight to organize them when putting them away, but in reality all I did was disassemble each set enough to get it in its box and threw extra bits and everything else into my monorail and black seas barracuda boxes since they were the biggest. When I first surveyed what I'd brought home I felt overwhelmed and just put them all aside, but over the past week I've been inventorying and now have everything sorted out. Now I'm just trying to find the last few pieces to each set out of my box of leftover pieces and I'm preparing a small list to bricklink. I have a new found respect for those who buy bulk lots and then sort them. It's a lot of work, and that's with knowing all of the sets I have. I can't imagine doing it when you have to guess at what is there.

  43. Too bad this thread had to be locked because someone's ridiculous comments......here is your 2 cents back no one here wants it. Edit: That comment was literally the only negative comment I've seen today about this tragedy. Looks like someone should evaluate their own life rather that evaluating others.

  44. This post might offend some. It's not my intent. Like Ed stated, "Is that our fault? No... If you want something in life, make a plan and get it. The people who complained and didn't get a set were not prepared." These soreheads seem similar (and worse in some aspects) than the $99 10227 B-Wing ones. As much as people can cry and stomp, 21109s were available at different times through multiple retailers (like $99 10227 at TRU) for over a week. It appears people tried shop@home only a handful of times before either giving up or being satisfied with 2 sets. Then there are others who proactively checked other retailers. 1.) found target didn't have limits and 2) TRU had it for $25 so people bought more or their initial 21109(s). Additionally, other retailers (Amazon) also had 21109s in-stock on and off. People just needed to check a couple of times per day. So don't go blaming other folks because Little Johnny didn't get his Exo Suit set that daddy prob really wanted. I spoke my peace. I'm done.
