Call me crazy, but when I drop $200 on a set, I want it to come in a condition that doesn't look like it has been stepped on. Smaller cheaper sets, I will let slide more often. I do keep all my boxes even if I open and build them. When I decide to disassemble the set, I throw them in big zip lock bags and put them back in their boxes. I actually like displaying lego boxes too. I know there is strong debate about the value of boxes but most agree they definitely add value to the sets. Even if they are used or still sealed. Just ask the toy hunter. A older used set with a box in great shape will most likely sell for a higher price than one without the box or a damaged one. I think there is a big difference from ordering sets from Amazon Warehouse. Those sets you expect to not come in mint/brand new boxes. Hence the reason the sets are already discounted. I wouldn't worry about the returns, discounts etc hurting anyone. There are much worse things that "lego sellers" do than getting discounts or returning damaged items. Most if not all of these problems can be prevented by actually packaging the sets properly. Step 1: Don't put a large set in a box it doesn't fit in. Step 2: put extra padding/protection in the box. Problem solved.

Is has not happened to me yet but I started thinking about what one could do if it happened. Maybe it would be a good idea to add a comment to the product description when selling, like: "Please note: In rare cases brand new factory-sealed LEGO sets can be missing parts, figures or bags due to packaging errors by LEGO itself. Please be aware that I cannot refund you in a case like this or replace the set as a whole. You would have to contact LEGO customer service by yourself and ask them to send you the missing parts, which is normally free of charge. Please also be aware that missing parts of a set that is officially long sold out at retail can not anymore be at LEGO's disposal."

From a glance at the "Sold Listings" on eBay, it looks like 70013 was often bundled with other sets, and sold for $70+, which would skew the data. There is one of the bundle listings per every 5-10 normal listings. I'd guess the true value to be around $24. Jeff did mention that he wanted to get us the data out as quickly as possible, which is greatly appreciated. I just wrapped up editing together my first Mixels set. I'm really impressed with the whole thing. I feel like builders can spend hours creating there own mixels from these sets. Enjoy the video.

It's a niche market. Technic has some passionate fans and many of the larger Technic sets appreciate to very high levels, but besides the 41999, most Technic sets don't get a lot of attention from resellers. One thing that works against them is exposure...or lack of it. Many retailers don't carry Technic sets, so kids don't always pay attention to the theme. They do appreciate though. Yep! Even a slower grower now that everyone bought up a lot of technic because of what the 41999 did.

They were retired less than 6 months ago. Heck some TRUs still have them in stock. I think we are looking for patience ;)

Technic sets are steady, but slow growers. Not everyone is a fan of the Technic theme, so it takes longer than regular sets to appreciate...but many do, so be patient. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker

What's the production date code? Your pictures and opinions are nice and all but what I really need is that code to make an accurate buying decision.

Interesting stuff. GE at $199 plus your taxes is going to be $225. Retails here in the US for $149. So if we are talking on par, you are paying an extra $75. X2 and you pay $150 more. SSD $550, retail in US for $399. So on par, you pay $150 more. Total= 2x GE is $450 and you pay $150 more Total=1 SSD is $550 and you pay $150 more. Appreciation potential, SSD wins out. I think many BP are loaded with the GE like the FB. Assuming it follows the FB trend, the GE gains are limited, perhaps a double in a year? SSD following the imperial shuttle may net more than a double after EOL. Look at it on eBay now. Even on par, you cannot get it for $600 shipped. Obviously it depends on your budget too. You could go lower and buy up some arctic batman and power lex. Those will double easily once EOL. I got 12 GEs right now and I'm not too excited about that. Money can be put to use on a T1 or the Camel. I looked at the CAD price, those are by far much better investments than the GE. A $10 difference, not a $50 difference compared to the GE. When staging your house for sale, it's usually a good idea to put most of your stuff in storage. You want your house to be as clutter free as possible, it will make your house more inviting for the buyer and make it look bigger. You want people to imagine their stuff in your house, they don't want to see your clutter. Also, it will give you piece of mind that your valuables are locked away. I have my display sets on a shelf that is out of reach of the little ones, so I'm not worried about kids stealing anything when they come over. When I have a lot of people over I usually put that stuff away in a closet, just to be safe (I don't have much on display at any one time). My display area is in my office, which is just a corner of the basement with no door or anything. I don't think anyone would steal anything, but I just like the piece of mind.

Lol had to get off the internet yesterday because I recorded all the World Cup games and didn't want them spoiled. That count is correct and mine is complete!!! 6 #1s 6 #2s 7 #3s 7 #4s 2 unnumbered bags - one has 7 brown baseplates and 8 grey 2x10ish pieces, the other some longer technic pieces I believe. 2 big blue baseplates and a smaller blue baseplate and a small brown baseplate. So 28 bags altogether and 4 lose baseplates. My wife wanted this set. Super lucky as I only paid 170$ for it.

I went to Toyrus, the manager at the customer counter was smooshing with her employees, At Legoland Carsbad in CA, I went to the counter and told the employee the few Simpsons minifigures I was missing, he smooshed and found the last two I needed. I went to Walmart and one of the employees was smooshing the Simpsons minifigs. If you don't want to pay the high prices on Ebay for individual minifigs, this is the only way to complete your set.

That sure is an emergency Glad you changed the title from Emergency to Missing Minifigs I would return it to Walmart and they should give you a full refund or exchange for the same set....with Minifigs! :-)

I have a handful of these all picked up for $20 or less, not at all heavily invested. It`s a solid set with great figures, it will do well come EOL like everyone keeps saying, only hindrance to that may be how many people have stocked up, but if the demand is there (which I think it will be) shouldn`t be an issue. Now it just needs to retire!

Hit the motherlode on Friday and just now getting around to talking about it. My weekly flyer for Real Canadian Superstore (a grocery chain that also has a toy section where I get my best discounts) showed select Star Wars and other sets are 20% off this week. On top of that, they were doing a no tax event so those sets would be 33% off (20% discount plus 13% HST). As I'm driving to the store I get my weekly PC points email which has personalized offers of bonus points (which you can redeem for discounts) based on my past shopping history (ie $2 off of milk, etc.). For the first time ever, I get a toy related offer (most of them are food related). On top of the 20% discount and the 13% no tax, I get $8 in points for every $40 I spend on toys.That's another 20%!!! So I get to the store and pick up a couple of random Star Wars sets worth $80 and figure I'll come out just under $40 total. By chance I see a skid of boxes and lego sets down the aisle waiting to be unloaded and walk over. And there they were - 7 Wolverine Chopper 6866 sets in pristine condition! I haven't seen this set on a retail shelf anywhere since February. I sold 4 of them recently for between $50 and $75 each. I do the quick mental math as a formality only because there's no question I'm taking them all. I get to the cash and it gets even better. Retail price being $25, they're on CLEARANCE for $11 each!!!! Plus all the above discounts!!! 7 of these gold mines at about $6 each will make me close to a 1000% instant profit at current levels. Best. Score. Ever. (For Me.)
