Thanks everyone for the votes and thank you, TOK, for coming up with a fun little contest! There were a lot of creative entries so congrats to everyone. My apologies for having an imaginary pirate ship name derived from a "good" ship name in the real world. ;)

So one thing Ed and I want to convey about Brick Classifieds is that... It is YOUR Store!!! There will be a category structure that everyone follows and puts their items in, but overall it you will get to control many aspects of it. It takes a little from eBay, a little from Bricklink/Brickowl, but still different. Maybe like an Etsy but for LEGO. Here are a few more features on how things will work or features that will be available to you. 1. Discounts and Promotions: You will be able to run discounts and promotions on any aspect of your store. Say you have a large inventory of #10179 MF and you want to unload a few. You can specify a dollar or percent discount on that one product. There will be a Promotions widget and links to view all vendors that are running specials. You can run specials on the whole store, so if you say "oh screw it, I hate LEGO" and want to unload everything at 70% off, you can do that. If you want to specify a special category, you can do that. There are also quantity discounts. If you say "Buy 5 Mr Golds, get the 6th FREE" you can do that as well (Note, all these specials are things Ed talked about. He is ready to unload ) 2. Buy from Multiple Vendors: You will have a cart. You will be able to buy from multiple vendors in one shopping trip. Buy 10 sets from Ed, Buy 50 from me, buy a few from TheOrkKing and screw it, buy a few minifigs from ComicBlast. At the end you will get to select your shipping methods and see a grand total and pay once. 3. Instant Payouts: Ed and I are both fans of Paypal for its simplicity, security and options. I really do not want to get involved with storing people's credit cards, going through PCI compliance and any other hassles involved with it. The beauty of using Paypal is, it will allow us to do the multiple store checkout. Once the payment is processed, each vendor will get paid their cut and start the transaction process. Each person will be notified that they have an order and can start communicating and preparing their shipments. Later when we start to include fees, the nice part for everyone is, is that all fees will be taken care of, right there at the transaction. All sellers will get their money and we will get our commission. It speeds up the process and we will not have to hire a hitman to collect for us. 4. Sell MOC designs/digital downloads: Those that don't care about buying and selling sets, but are builders and designers will have a category for yourself to showcase your designs and sell the instructions. Buyers will be able to pay for your instructions. Once they pay, they will be able to get a download link to obtain the instructions and any other documents that you need to give. Basically just ZIP everything up and upload to the system. Everything else will be taken care of. So there are a few more features, I hope this works for most of you. I am sure everyone may not care or be happy. But I think most will be ok with it.

Hey guys! It occurred to me that I have never officially introduced myself here and thought that I would share a bit about me for my 500th post! First of all, I am a TFOL, been building with LEGO since I was seven, and just started investing about a year ago. I was aware that the value of sets went up after they retired, but until now, I had never been able to keep a set sealed for over a week. Here are some interesting facts about me: 1. I am a Christian! 2. I am sandwiched between two sisters 3. I love to play the guitar and enjoy going to concerts 4. My most valuable set that I own is the Green Grocer 5. I have a LEGO Ideas account. 6. My favorite themes are Creator Expert and LOTR and Hobbit. 7. My dad is an airplane mechanic, so sometimes he will take me with him to work on airplanes. I would put down more, but I couldn't think of anything interesting. Also, I wanted to include a picture of myself because I always wonder what everybody looks like on here in real life. Three months after the imperial flagship was EOL I had taken my father in law to a Lego convention in Cincinnati. At the time the sets were selling on ebay every day for $400. They had a Lego store set up in the convention center. Sitting on the shelves were 8 copies (marked down from $180 to $120). I casually asked the store guy how many sets I could buy. He told me 5. So I informed my father in law that I was going to buy 5 and I was going to have him buy the other 3 (he's not a wealthy man and I informed him I would pay him back later that night). We went to the register to pay when I realized I had left my wallet in my car on the other side of town. I pleaded with the cashier to help me out and not force me to go across town to get my wallet. He thankfully allowed my father in law to purchase all 8 sets. So my father in law just put $1000 on his credit card. While driving home I was telling him about my strategy in investing in Lego. He then informed me that he wanted in on half. Meaning that he would buy 4 sets and I would buy 4 sets. What was I going to do. He saved me by paying for my sets anyway. He then got worried about what he was going to tell his wife. I reassured him that we could post 2 of the sets on ebay that night and a week later he would (should) be able to sell them for between $350-400 easily. We did exactly that and he was pleased. We then sold his other 2 sets the next week. Since then I've sold a couple of my sets. I have a few more still gaining in value. But to find eight $400 sets on the shelf for $125 ea. Without having to wait for them to "mature". That was a great day!!

Hey all, I just finished my first Modular MOC and thought it would be fun to share with everyone. I was trying to figure out what sets Lego would never make, and settled on a Dispensary...with an upstairs grow-op. My Minifigs are LOVING it ;D

Read your "interests" all I can say is "build something" that's the whole point of these fantastic little plastic bricks. As great as it is that someone of your age is seriously thinking about investing don't forget to just be a kid too. All the mistakes of youth are what gives us wisdom.

Oooooh a camping set!! I love it. My daughter will be all over this. So no word on where this set was actually spotted? I'm curious as to why Nala is suddenly popping up in a couple places. Does she figure in the latest story lines about the jungle sets? I know the girls are supposed to head out to some safari adventure. Or maybe they already have ...I don't follow the movies.

Hey there! There are several different answers you could get for this kind of question, and many sellers on here are far more experienced in this area than me, but I`ll try and offer up 1 for consideration. - First off, you need to determine what is missing. Do you have all the parts? Do you have instructions? Are they in good condition? How about the box? Each of those will almost always add value to a set. There are several sites you can use for set content listing, several members and myself use Bricklink. Here is the catalog entry for 7199. - Secondly, you need to determine the cost involved in obtaining these parts. Have to ask yourself, will you be able to make more money then you will put in? Again, I`d use Bricklink for parts/instructions. You don`t necessarily need to include a box in your (I assume ebay) listing, but it is good to do so if you have it. That`s the big stuff for sure. Lastly you have to determine your method of sale. Will you list as BIN or as a Auction? I won`t get into the pros and cons of each here, there are several threads on this forum where info pertaining to that can be found, but it`s got to be considered. In this case, I see no reason why not to list as BIN, if you have sufficient ebay feedback. Buyers tend to be leery of people they don`t trust, your listing must look legit, and you as a seller must have a decent (and in many cases, near perfect/perfect) score. This is because you are more likely to get the value you want for a set like this, it`s older and someone will be looking for it specifically as opposed to trying to score a good deal on a current set. A buyer will more than likely seek it out. As far as general value goes for this set, I see no reason why you couldn`t fetch $150 for it, provided you have everything (box/instructions). That`s based on current listings for a NISB set ($200-$300 at the moment). It may take a bit of time to sell, but if you were to list as BIN, surely there would be a buyer interested at some point. It`s definitely possible you could get even more (around the $200 mark), but like I said that will depend on your feedback/listing and a few other things. Hopefully that helps out a bit. 10221 is going to outperform 10030 by a lot. There is only one Executor, but there are oodles of generic star destroyers in the imperial fleet. It's the difference between a clone trooper and Boba Fett. Which would you rather buy and show off if you're going to spend hundreds of dollars: a Star Destroyer? Or THE SUPER Star Destroyer? To be fair, he had a 50/50 chance of being right.

I had a vivid dream last night in which I received simultaneous text messages from my contacts saying that several sets, including the GE, VW, and SC, had just retired. I saw the timestamps of the texts: May 28th. Given the credibility of our other sources, I believe this dream is worthy of sharing. Ignore the vision at your own risk.

Today we gave Gavin his new sets and the minifigure shelf. He was so happy to get the Sea Cow and Ewok Village! You could tell by his reaction those were definitely on his wish list :-) The Super Heroes sets were also a big hit! I want to once again say thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. The family was very grateful for this. We talked a little bit about their plans to begin an annual LEGO based fundraiser to keep the spirit alive. I believe this is the start of something very special. I'll keep everyone here updated as the plans develop. Please keep Gavin and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I returned my 4 AS to Target last week. I visited the same store yesterday and 3 of them were marked on clearance for $104. My moral compass told me not to buy them so I left them for someone else.
