  1. Yes, I can tell you that the discounted sets have to do with the Star Wars theme

  2. While we wait till 8PM, I'll tell you about an experience I had last night...It was the pre-dawn hours and I was half asleep. I felt an evil, almost malicious presence in the room. I started sweating bullets, like I was in the middle of the Sahara Desert. I was fighting back fear, then my dog Skiffy, a Vizsla, jumped in my bed and I woke up. End of story.

  3. Alright... I'm really hoping to get a few likes for this one... I was disappointed with the TRU.ca sale, so I decided to roam the net, and I happened upon this site... http://www.playvaluetoys.com/ They have the rover available (limit 12 per customer), at 34.99 each. On top of that, they still have Uruk-Hai Armies, Helm's Deeps, Two-Face Chase and a bunch of older SW and POTC sets plus much more! Must check out! Most things are MSRP, but worth it for sets that have long disappeared! Free shipping in Canada with $75 purchase. They ship to US too!

  10. Very small selection when I got there. They were all adopted already. The half off discount really helped find those poor animals homes. There were only three dogs left when I got there and one was Skiffy.

  12. Give it a chance. It shouldn't be a downgrade refresh as the updated AT-AT and last year's Sail Barge in terms of design, size, and elements used. I will be getting mine on Saturday and will posting comparison pics early next week.

  13. One thing I have done is reserved my business name's .com and I point that web address straight to my eBay store page*. That reserves the name for you, points people to your inventory (you could point it to whatever other site you sell more on instead, if it's not eBay), and gives you the option in the future to create your own site if you want to. Buying a domain name is cheap, and well worth it to keep from kicking yourself in a few years when you really want to do something with mycoolstorename.com. *I have not checked that linkage in awhile, turns out it's defunct, lol. Doing online chat with godaddy right now to get it back in place. See, these threads are quite useful, they remind me to check things like that from time to time!

  14. The sale dates for this year are May 3rd to May 5th, so the sales go live tonight at midnight.

  15. It's in stock for one only. I put in in a cart with a Helms and Jabba but it's just too much.

  16. Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be online at 9 placing a few orders. Will probably take the boys down later in the day tomorrow and avoid the crowds. Not thinking I am going to get rich investments wise with anything, but should be a good chance to let the boys pick out a cool set or two and maybe grab some Simpsons CMF's.

  17. The lego store here (raleigh nc) had a line of people an hour before they opened last year. They are putting up ropes this year.

  18. There's also more than sufficient time to take a good look at the deals, crunch the numbers, and make decisions between the "official" announcement time and when LEGO Shop at Home goes live and/or the stores open tomorrow.

  19. I doubt any deal is worth losing affiliate membership over, it's not like we could buy anything early.

  20. Certain site that re-sells gift cards, has Barnes cards for 20% off. Someone could hook you up with current 15%-20% coupon. If you a member, then you probably have them, plus 10% member discount. So, you can go all stackables on it , and have one for 0.9*(0.8 or 0.85 or even 0.7 with certain unmentionable coupon)*0.8*MSRP Edit: bold beat me to it...

  21. BN have those. If you have 20% off cpn plus 20% Gc plus 10% of membership u can have a decent deal, otherwise like other said, there will be plenty of opportunities

  22. Yes, there will be some nice deals on the Republic Gunship in the future. I am sure of that.

  23. Aaaanndddddd this is why I have way way way too many sets and not enough storage space left. I buy stuff that I find just "OK" basically as an insurance policy in case A) I like it later or It rockets in value. Lost count of how many times I told my wife "worst case I'll get my money back"

  24. You should have plenty more chances for a good deal on that. Anyone know if Amazon ends up matching the sale prices?

  25. Alternatively, they could set it up for "I am your father" day, considering the back-order status rumors... It is certainly not as popular as May 4th, but they could try to make it more popular this way :-)

  26. after spending so much to adopt 100 rovers there's not a lot of room left in my kennel for other dogs, especially underperforming dogs like a vizla or big grey mutt

  28. Okay, I have a request - how about a "add this set to your Brickfolio" button? Sometimes I like to look up a set, and I'd love to just be able to click a button and have take me to the add page, rather than scrolling to the top, clicking "My Brickfolio" and then the add button. And then I still have to search for that set. If I was already on that set page, I'd like it to just be a single click.

  29. I might consider adopting a mean old dog if it was half off. The old lady thinks I have too many dogs though.

  30. I hear the UK had a much better choice of dogs to choose from. I like British Bulldogs, but all they had was a Vizsla and a big greyish mutt and little sand colored Chi.

  32. The good news is we get all the scoop at 8 pm. The question is, doing a google search, before 8 pm, will someone spill the beans somewhere on the Internet and then get sacked for doing so. I think it has happened before. That means it will happen again. Oh wait a minute, that is BSG and not SW

  33. So, TRU markup on TRU exclusive does do the trick :-) Real MSRP is 89.99, so 33% off, still not bad for licensed set. I got one for same price, but had some reward bucks. I which they would have tried 20% off regular price coupon, but oh well. Might try in another store

  38. Both are very cool figs. Both parties won in that trade. Too bad I only have 1 Lex... I really wish he would have been in 6862 because that fig and mech go together like good ol' peanut and jelly.

  40. You`re prepared to spend! Excellent! May the 4th Lego sales have always been from what I recall May 3-5, so the 4th falls right in the middle. This time tomorrow things should be available.

  41. This is something we've seen many times now with all the remakes of sets LEGO likes to do, what ends up happening is simply that LEGO likes to charge more to charge more, but I don't mind paying a bit extra as long as quality is there, but LEGO has had a few slip ups in the past... Just to name a few, later 9Volt train motors, see-through 'solid' colored bricks, printing wearing off certain head molds; Mr. Krabs, a SW character; ect. LEGO also seems to like to add unnecessay plate levels, Palpatine's Arrest, Rancor Pit(Some may argue that it was needed for the opening door, but I disagree as it could have been done without the clip, so only 'needed' for an function not too crutial in the grand scheme of the set, but I digress) ect. Now, what were you guys honestly expecting from a UCS Sandcrawler? LEGO has a limit to what they can produce and still make a profit, if you're telling me you would have rather had a larger Crawler that would be impratical with this design to get the price down, as most parts are used for the actual crawler, not interior parts. The only way I see that the people unhappy with it to make them happy would have been to make it anothrt 500 dollar UCS set so it could have fit in to TLG's budget and profit making, but even so it is a unpopular vechicle, not a bad one, but just one that probably won't be around for long and they did do the right decision where they can produce this, make money, and satisfy the larger group of people out there. See, here's the thing, most people who like LEGO like to be able to do something with it other than just display, not saying it's the best way, but I'll say it's my default reason for buying LEGO. The Death Star II was discontinued after only 2 years, why? Reports say that this is because it was a poor seller, but these could be false, but who knows. What I do know is that whenever I invite people over to my house they instantly gravitate more towards the play sets instead of the 'adult' models. Now with regards to the updated the Sail Barge, and other sets like it, I feel that overall the set is better than the original, if you're looking at detail. If size, the original wins out being 2 studs wider and I believe 4-6 longer, which the new one could have been and still looked just as fine. There are issues with it, but I prefer the new one because it is more accurate to the movie. All and all, I think UCS SW sets should be regarded into two categories, minifigure scale, and 'life size' scale. Now my final thoughts on the big old beast 1) The plate design is approved by me, allows more detail to be captured 2) Wish it was easy to add PF, fail by the designers 3) The marketing as an adult set was just bad, while I don't mind it being labeled as UCS, have two categories 4) Love the interior and figures 5) All pieces should have been PRINTS, NO STICKERS on UCS sets! And finally... 6) My favorite thing about the set and my overall opinion on it is that it is one heck of a beast and I love the treads on the thing.

  45. Hello On the 'quizzzzzzzzzzzzz' 1/ Discount on exclusives are "harder to get" but are still out very well -there-. have a look here: http://www.toysrus.fr/family/index.jsp?categoryId=4070781 2/ The "May 4th SW sale" was pre-announced by multiple Lego fan sites. The Brick Show, BrickSet, HothBricks etc said the same. This was the commercial intent of LEGO - makes sense as it boosts their sales 3/ Some sites also announced the EoL of SSD and R2D2. What I don't understand is why Lego.com would do that in the middle of an action like the current one? Give people a "last chance" to get one ? Being obliged to answer many order when in fact there's little stock left? Maybe cancelling stuff - what about customer service? My best guess is that by the end of this year, some of these sets will have disappeared. But it will take some time - the SSD and DS are out of stock everywhere. Has LEGO dramatically underestimated demand? I doubt that. => http://www.hothbricks.com/2014/04/retiring-soon-les-sets-10221-10225-bientot-en-rupture-definitive/ 4/ The http://shop.lego.com/fr-BE/Red-Five-X-wing-Starfighter-10240 gets a lot of bad press. Part out value is not worth it. If I were Lego, I'd stop producing the less popular stuff. Obviously on raw sales data, I haven't done my homework yet. Maybe somebody else has a better view on what ships / SW sets a selling well/ which ones not. regards

  46. i hope all of you freaking out about the SSD have plenty of curiosity rovers already, because it's going to outperform the SSD in both the long and short term and the rest of my rover money got stolen by the wife and turned into "we're going to disney for may the 4th" money I'm done buying rovers until we get back and she returns what's left of it

  48. Thanks for the feedback. Shot over to another local TRU to pick up the Friends display cases. $19.99!! Well that quickly got PM'd down to 14.99 .I like the outcome of the pastel sky blue much better!! Goes well with the theme. Total investment for Figs and cases=$80 Now, my goal is only to sell the other 2 full sets at a profit of about $40 profit each to be freeeeee and cleeeeeear. Done!
