I learn lots of things on the internet. Like what a good job I'm doing raising my kids, because they're never going to be disappointed they only got $500 worth of toys for their birthday, and not $600 worth.

Figured since we have every other kind of thread I might as well make this one. Thank You Mack brothers for this awesome site and all those people that keep deals fresh and information new. Wouldn't be anywhere close to where I am without it. :)

In today's news, authorities discovered another LEGO parting sweat shop in West Covina. 200 undocumented workers, most of them crying and clutching orange human tools in their twisted hands, were taken to local hospitals...

Sold a complete with box and manual 7153 jango Fett's slave I for $145 shipped on eBay. I bought it two weeks ago off of eBay for $72.22 shipped. I love quick turnarounds like that. Over the past two weeks I have sold off most of my sets that I completed from my latest bulk lot purchase. I paid $135 total for the lot, spent another $50 brick linking a few missing pieces and manuals, and so far the sets I have sold have brought in just under $800. Included were an unexpected gathering, Hagrids hut, the burrow, knight bus, dobbys release x 2, hogwarts 4867, forbidden forest, hogwarts castle, crazy scientist, werewolf x2, swamp creature, vampire hearse, freeing Dobby, fountain of youth, 31 CMFs that I sold as a lot for $75, a portion of diagon alley, trolley, and a few other small city sets. I still have a handful of Indiana jones sets and small seasonal sets to list. This has been one of the most fun bulk lots I have ever worked through, and the buy in was fantastic.

They just don't tell you the cleaning process. They might be bathing with your LEGO.

I work in the movie industry as a technical director and we use some of the software used by Animal Logic. Here's some information that would help you understand why it's long. I don't know exactly why it take 3 years, but personally I think it's because a lot of people are involved in this project, Lego need to approve probably everything and approbation take a lot of time and it can bottleneck a production really fast. I experienced that in the movie industry and in the video game industry. Another thing that take a lot of time is simulation, rendering and composition. Modeling take time too, but with the software Houdini you can create big scene with Lego easily, they don't place each lego piece in the scene. As it seems like there are some members new to the part buying aspect of Bricklink, I thought I'd share some information on programs that can make it easier. Bricklink is a great thing to have, but using it at first feels like a time machine to 15 years ago and shows you just how bad online shopping can be on an outdated website design. That said, two programs that can relieve some of the pain are Brickstore and Brickficiency. Brickstore essentially lets you manage the Bricklink database in a more powerful and easier to use way. Imagine the Bricklink parts/sets catalog combined with Excel. I primarily use it to check prices and inventory levels of parts and sets, to create wanted lists for missing parts I need or sets I'm trying to build from scratch, and to verify inventory of a Bricklink order or a used set I bought. It has the ability to import set inventories, import Bricklink orders, export Bricklink wanted lists, etc which make it much faster to use than the Bricklink website. Brickficiency is a program that takes a Bricklink wanted list or Brickstore .bsx file and scans Bricklink to find the cheapest combination of 2-5 stores to purchase the parts from. This makes it very easy to find where to purchase a list of parts from, rather than having to manually and tediously use the store list on the Bricklink Wanted list page. Hopefully this is helpful to anyone who has not heard of these programs, and if you already have, you probably know how useful they are . If it would be helpful I can write some short tips and guides on using these programs to accomplish certain tasks such as verifying completeness of a used set, identifying a used set based on a few bricks, Bricklinking a complete set from scratch, etc, or even just basic Bricklink tips and info, just let me know

I have three TRU orders in "Item located in stock" status. Two of these orders are for not-yet released sets (Rapunzel and Friends Beach House), so I'm thinking there's less than a 5% chance these ship in the next day or two. Has anyone had any order cancelled when in the "Item located in stock" status?

Hello Evereyone, I'm from Canada, 39, and started to collect and play with lego just over 2 years ago.. a bit late but picking up! I very much like the modular buildings, now starting to collect more limited sets and SW sets too! I find this site is very helpful in learning and investing Lego!

Interesting concept! You know what, if someone is bold enough to take a stab at something like this, I`d give them a pat on the back. Of course you`de want an idea like this to work effectively, but the fact that they are willing to even attempt this is fantastic. Kudos to these folks

If you have the money I would get a few or wait til May 4th and see if Lego as a sale to get rid of these, because once the panic buying starts the price for these will skyrocket fast, and with the new movie Dec 2015 these will be big bucks next year for Christmas, I can see it now how many people on this site that didn't get any will be asking should I get one now for $500-$600 or more.

Oh I'd love this service; I have so many bins and buckets of never-ending pieces from when I grew up til now. I must wonder, though, if a "unique" piece happens to be there if it would still be there upon getting everything back; big trust factor imo.

Here here. Thank you Ed and Jeff for starting this great site. My instincts have been good on what to buy, this site helps focus them a bit more. My missed chances column might have been shorter had I become a member sooner. Thanks to all who contribute. My game has been raised because of all the great information available. BTW, my new son 9 weeks old yesterday has certainly changed my equation. New variables, new responsibilities, but I wouldn't change a thing. My heart melt everytime he smiles. After wanting a son for more than a decade, he found us in early Feb. I am thrilled I finally get to share my passion of Lego with a boy of my own. My 10 yr old nephew may not be as happy since my focus will shift a bit. BTW my nephew (patting myself on the back) now wants to be an engineer after receiving a 8043 Excavator at the age of 9. He never completed the build, but it sparked some magical creativity. This past holiday season he asked his parents what and where the best engineering school was. They added two additional white pieces to the front of the roof at some point to add some strength. It was discussed a while back in the what set did you build thread but I can't find the post...

I wouldn't be surprised if R2-D2 and the Death Star live long enough to see the premier of the new movie. R2 will definitely be in the movie, and both of these sets are too popular to retire. The SSD is very cool, but it doesn't have the same iconic status that R2 and DS have. I don't think people care that the minifigs in the DS are "old." In fact, some people like the older figs and feel like the new ones are too detailed. I really hope we get a large Cloud City remake before the new movie comes out, since I feel like new sets are going to be all movie related late next year.

Finally broke down and opened up one of my many Vampyre Castles... . Where does it end when one "uses their own supply"? The 5-year old had a great time helping build and play with the minifigures!

You know how long it takes to move those Lego pieces?!? Seriously though, Lego isn't a movie company and though they are probably not involved in everything, I am not sure that they just retain people to take care of all that type of stuff, so chances are this is a spread too thin issue between all their current shows, their sets and new themes, and the movie itself.

Lol in my records for my taxes, I have 4 minifigures I counted as loss because my dog did eat them. Can't set stuff where she can get it or it shall be chewed.

I bought Mastercard stock when it IPO'ed, at around $41 bucks a share. I forgot about it for a couple years. When I checked it again, it was at $300 or $400 a share. I sold some to cover my cost basis. Then I forgot about it again, and then it was at $700 a share... Sold some more because I wasn't sure whether or not it would go higher. Then it did a 1-for-10 split. I'll sit on it as long as it doesn't dip down wildly since it's all profit at this point. I wish I had bought more....

Or you could buy all of the 2nd market stock, corner the market, double your money(you will have to have a butler to handle the sales though), buy lego factory or something....

Yeah, I'm also anal about sticker placement. Confession = I even anointed myself designated sticker analyst when my son builds. Amazon increased the price back to MSRP, as well as Amazon UK. Target, Walmart, TRU, none of them have it anymore. After Amazon runs out, the only place to get it will be SAH, which could sell out quickly if they put it on any kind of discount. This thing is officially done, which may be the biggest advantage over other exclusives such as GE. We don't know exactly how long those will linger.

The Batcave 6860 will be out the whole year, Nobody should be paying $70 for it now.

When the Millenium Falcon 10179 first came out I was like what da !@#$, $600????? That's crazy. Nevertheless I put it into my Amazon cart to see if it would go on sale and maybe I'll be stupid to buy it. After about a year after it's release I was reading and viewing other people opening and such on Youtube. I was like that's crazy spending 24-48hrs to build it. Then one day, Amazon had it on sale for $390 so finally bought it. I was so excited receiving it but I remembered it took 24-48hrs to build and I just had my first kid so I did the wise thing and put it away in the closest when I could find some alone weekend time to build it. 12 months later forgetting about it I noticed it was no longer for sale on Amazon but 3rd party people were selling it for $1000. Ebay was around $800-$900. I was like uhm I can't open it now since it appreciated plus I still don't have that much free time to build it. Two years later I looked it up and it was $2000. Now several years later and two kids and up to around $3500 I can never get myself to open it and instead I have to sell it. So excited when I first bought it and now so sad I'll never build it cause it's just worth too much money

To answer my own question, and for everyone that might be interested too: there is a small tool called "bltools" (http://code.google.com/p/bltools/) that can take a blinklink xml file (exported from a wanted list, I currently do that via a browser plugin), download store information about each part, and then using some pretty nifty optimizing techniques to find an optimum way to buy this set of bricks from the available stores (making some assumptions about the shipping cost). The result is an html page with corresponding links to blicklink and XML ready to be imported to Bricklink again, one for each store. Nice.

They are Building a Amazon Warehouse in Baltimore about 5 miles from where I live, suppose to be huge and hire 1000 or more people which is suppose to open end of 2014,I am going to do my best to get in there and talk to somebody to get a temp job on showing people how to box up Lego Sets. Ed
