Ooh ooh, I just had another awesome idea: Modular Abandoned Lot! It'll fit right between two other buildings. There could be a dumpster, a few rocks, some scattered trash, and a bunch of weeds. Maybe even a baseball bat or a syringe. As a crowning touch, there's a pair of shoes hanging from a power line. I'm sending that idea to Lego, they won't be able to not hire me.

We haven't - the money for the old three is going to come from the sale of some of Mr. Frog's unwanted older sets (giant Star Destroyer, etc. etc.) and we have been in a three month business planning, investment-revamping, money laundering (no no, not money laundering, forget I said that ) money RE-ARRANGING absolutely crazy mode as we have finally finished the business plan that will move us completely out of books and completely into LEGO. Over time. Which cannot be too soon, because I'm bone-weary of lugging books around and much prefer the LEGO. And as of this month, we've implemented The Plan and it's going splendidly but not leaving us much time for fun builds. And my oldest daughter just sprung a boyfriend on us. Yes, the first one. So Mr. Frog is using almost every spare moment that he's not sorting LEGO for Bricklink for cleaning his guns and clearing his throat meaningfully. But those three modulars are definitely still on The List!

It seems to me this is generally a bad idea for multiple obvious reasons, and more not-so-obvious reasons. 1. How can they keep track of all the pieces that might be stolen? Everyone knows how much value there is in LEGO, and anyone can simply pick up an interesting figure from an expensive set and resell it. They claim they check every set to make sure it's complete, but someone has probably already found a loophole. (A possible answer could be the fact that they must have an address to confront someone if suspected of reselling, but even then, you can gift sets to someone's house when they aren't there, pick it up, rinse and repeat. People are getting more creative with finding ways to make a few bucks, and for some that's through thievery.) 2. Who wants to RENT LEGOs? Most kids I know like building their own creations out of other sets to make their own creative vehicle or building (heck, I even do that). How are they going to keep the kids from not tearing up the set and mixing it in their own collection? Do the parents then have to buy the set from them? Do they have to spend hours picking out the pieces? Kids are messy and irresponsible, and the parents are sometimes the same. (They say you can buy the set from them at a discounted price, but how much of a discount and from what price? Original retail, or current retail?) 3. Only 1 at a time. I know that it makes it easier to keep track of, but what if you want to play with say, an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter, but can only rent one at a time? No answer to that except buying one, but that defeats the purpose of renting them, doesn't it? They suggest registering two accounts, but then you're paying TWICE as much to rent sets per month. 4. Renting. I don't know if it has changed, but there used to be 3 plans to choose from, Fan, for $15 (Get $25 sets and under), Super Fan (approx. $50 sets and under) fro $25, and Mega Fan (all sets) for $39. The only plan that is worth it to me is Mega Fan because you can get EVERY set, including the uber-awesome Death Star that retails for $400. I think most parents and kids would gladly pay 10% to build that set and play with it for a week or more! However, when it gets down to it, unless you live close to their shipping place, you are waiting on average 7-8 days for ONE set. For something like a small $20 City set, that is unacceptable. That means you can barely get 2-3 days of play for one set while waiting 8 for it to get there. If you've done the math, that's only 3, or if you're lucky 4 sets per month. THAT sucks. 5. Overall price. Since we're on the subject of Math, it doesn't seem like too much money at first, does it? $40 for a month of renting sets rather than $120 for sets all over your house, not bad. This is one of those ideas that looks great in theory to people with no experience in the industry, but is a total cluster f... in practice. Dumb people with too much money love these ideas.

It'll be fine as long as a family is happy to receive a "Tower Bridge" that contains half it's original parts and half random replacement parts and cat hair. Even assuming every single renter enters into this with the most honest of intentions, pieces will be lost at most rental stops, so that some poor schmoe wanting to build the actual set will find himself with dozens, maybe hundreds, of missing pieces that have been replaced with pieces of no use to him. And their claim to be able to replace the correct missing pieces by weight would be adorable if it weren't so dumb it makes me worry about their ability to dress themselves and come in out of the rain. :)

I usually get annoyed when a cashier comments on what I'm purchasing or asks me something, regardless of whether I'm buying stuff for resale or not. Eff off and ring me out; you can be replaced by a machine, which I'd prefer.

I can see a future where this seller no longer has any eBay privileges. And that future is very soon.

3 story lego store

X-Men will have had 5 movies in the past 15 years; not including two Wolverine movies and have been in a cartoon rotation since 1992. The public must be pretty dense not to be familiar with a 7 movie franchise that's generated hundreds of millions and 3 different cartoon series. The Fantastic Four had two movies and a couple of cartoons and are historically synonymous with the MARVEL brand. I'll give you Dr. Strange though.

Hey guys, I hope to get some help from those who's a regular buyer on Amazon. I had just made multiple purchases on one set, but there's a purchasing limit of 5 similar sets per order. Does this mean thatI can order the same 5 sets again in next time, or am I not allowed to buy any more of that set? And another one; under the item name in the wish list, there's a line saying "Quantity: 3, Has: 2". Does this mean that there's a purchasing limit for this item? And does this last permanently? Thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it.

Funny, I was going to let my son watch Star Wars for the first time a while back, so I went and found the original trilogy in a box In the garage only to realize it was on VHS and I haven't owned a VCR for at least 5 years. At least it wasn't on BetaMax, a quick run to Goodwill and all was well.

Two sets with identical part counts (complete in box) will not way the same, at least not down to 1/100th of a gram like they mention. Hell grab 4 CMF packets that all have the same figure in them and way them on a scale that goes out to 100ths of a gram -- you will get at least 3 different weights back. At that level, just moisture in the instructions/pamphlets/box will throw a couple 10ths of a gram one way or another -- not to mention actual debris the sets will pickup from play. But the general idea of toy rental -- I can see it working. If the price was right. One of the things that got netflix where it is, were people that weren't taking full advantage of rent, view, return as fast as possible to get the most discs each month. Millions of subscribers would get a disc, watch it, and then leave it laying around for weeks before dropping it back in the mail. They're also banking on the "what if I want to keep it" situation, where they'll happily sell you the toy. How many toys are going to end up being bought because the kid throws a fit when the parent goes to send it back. But educational toys, maybe things like the microscopes and telescopes, and other age appropriate toys that kids usually only play with for a couple of months before getting bored of them -- those could work in this model... This of course, is until you get some creep specifically adds something to sets that is harmful to children and then returns them. The whole thing will implode the first time a kid DIES because of something the previous renter returned in the box. Heck here in the forums, a BP member had to deal with an ebay mom claiming the LEGOs he sold them were giving her kid a rash. My glass is officially half-empty on this business model. And to those that argue, it's obviously a success since they were able to get venture capital -- I ask you to take a look back at 1998-2004 -- the DotCom boom and bust, thousands of companies landed billions of dollars of VC for businesses that either never shipped a product, or failed soon after products started shipping. Getting VC is not an indicator of a successful business plan, unless your plan was simply to get VC to have a never ending happy-hour celebration at work and buy yourself a new Porsche every month until you can't score any more rounds of VC...

Most of the stuff people are complaining about here regarding LEGO stores is script they have to say or ask. They get secret shoppers a couple times a month and if they don't ask those questions they get bad scores, which also impact bonuses. Personally, I don't like having "welcome to (insert almost any store name here)" yelled at me from across the room. The first couple times it happened at a store I thought it was cool, but now that it happens everywhere it's just annoying. It's kind of like how the employees at Chik-fil-A have to say "my pleasure" instead of "you're welcome". First time it's nice to hear something different. After you realize it's just what they are told to say so everyone says it, it loses it's meaning and jut becomes another script.

Sold a big lot of minifigures for $200, was mostly part of a lot I purchased awhile back. Looks like after fees/shipping, will turn my $575 into about $1700. Too bad I pretty much spent it all already

I don't see it affecting the secondary market much, the people who are going to take that route probably were never secondary market customers in the first place.

They say they have a special scale and program that can tell if all the parts are returned. How can they tell if it's the correct color? How about swapping minifigs, say some old CITY minifigure with some Superhero minifigure?

Whether they're put together or not, you can list an open, unused minifigure as new. 99% of the minifigures listed as new on eBay are assembled. I doubt there's really too much difference in value between a sealed and new, opened CMF, but I think it's pretty easy to tell what's inside so I just sell mine sealed. I'll give the fun of opening their brand new minifigure to the buyer.

I remember the Train was $50 last year at Target clearance. I picked up Silver mines for $40 at the time but didn't buy the train (I should have!). Hope this helps.

Futureshop and Bestbuy have this on sale almost every week, it has gone as low as $97 on Bestbuy i believe. I have 1 personally back during the holiday's when TRU had them %20 off.

I just saw some of these on clearance at one of my Shopkos for $47.99, what a steal.

It's around %33 off at TRU, but only around %23 off retail price for reference.

Great price on the Stagecoach. Also the Skiff isn't a bad deal either, I'll probably end up just getting a few Skiff's. Too bad on the train though In store selection may be a bit different as they tend to have more obscure items than online, i'll be checking one today.

I have a vested dislike of clerks grilling me for the upsell for any reason under any circumstances. Last time I was at some event they'd stationed a clipboard fascist at the exit to demand of every attendee, by hurling themselves bodily in front of same, "what brought you to our event today?" I told them it was a condition of my parole. It was a toss-up between that and telling them I'd lost a bet.

Definitely report this character to eBay, asap. He needs gone in a hurry and eBay will help him on his journey. I would open the set because of this guys sparkly shenanigans - any problems and you can file with either eBay or PayPal. It shouldn't affect value to the majority of your buyers - a few will be sticklers for a new and unopened set, but new and "contents verified" (and you can even show photos of all the bags, state that for your buyer's protection you opened the kit to verify it was complete, etc.) can actually be a good selling point that some buyers will appreciate.

Wow, what a spirited discussion. I've only been to Lego store twice, distance makes it hard. I'm not defending Lego policy or people who abuse their position but, I do take issue with the "go nowhere job" title. I was brought up being taught I should always have respect for a honest, hard working man(women) weather they running the country or cleaning toilets. As you should have theirs. No worker should be looked down on even if they don't share your aspirations.

In the last 6 months I've noticed that if I buy 3 of anything at my local lego store without fail they will ask me "so who are these for?" and I immediately want to say "they're for your mom!" but I haven't, just yet.

I hate the fact I have a huge TMNT 2013 fan in this house and I can't take him to a new "Ninja Turtles" movie, because it's directed by Michael Bay and I know it will be totally innapropriate.

Well Most of you guys no my stand on the Death Star and SSD, So with the new 75059 Huge Sandcrawler $349.99 and Slave 1 coming in Septemper that should be the end of the Death Star or SSD, Something has to go as Lego has never had all these SW Lego Exclusives out at once. So I am up to 34 Death Stars and 15 SSD as with the Barnes and Noble 30%-40% Coupons if the cashier does not read the coupon you should be getting the DS for $270-300 depending on the coupon. along with the R2-D2 Droid $130. But back to the Death Star all you guys who think this set will take forever to make money will regret it along with the SSD.Most of you guys are kicking yourself for not buying lots of Imperial Flagships, Remote AT AT, 10212 Shuttles,Potter Castles and I could list many more, because once the panic buying starts for the DS and SSD well many of guys on here will be asking is $500-600 still a good deal for them.
