I was thinking how this ship reminded me of the ships on level 8 of Super Mario 3, then I found that someone actually recreated one in Lego... '> Still, I think I'll be passing on the Sea Cow.

I just shot and edited this yesterday. Launched about an hour ago. I'm looking for any feedback. I was tired of viewing a person ramble for 5 -7 minutes on a set that I just want to see being built with close-ups of details. Figured I'd just do it myself. Let me know what you think.

You get a point for logging in everyday. Jeff has been hard at work behind the scenes on two major updates for the site, The Brick Classifieds and a secret feature that is damn cool IMO. The Brickpoints will play a major role in the Classifieds in that people will be able to utilize them to list their LEGO sets for sale or trade, so as Jeff stated, we will address the whole Brickpoints process in detail when the time is right, but it is all getting tracked. I just wanted to let everyone know that Jeff is working very hard to improve the site and add features, but with anything worthwhile, it takes time. There are many things that happen in the daily workings of the site that need attention and take away from other "new" stuff. You would be surprised how simple issues with members, servers, code, or whatever will suck time away from creative endeavors.

I'm now rethinking my lunch plans.

LOTR: Tower of Orthanc will be a definitive winner. I'm 99% sure of it. Pirate Amush will be ok because of awesome minifigs: ghosts soldiers of course but for someone that doesn't have any set and liked the movies, it provides the 3 team warriors heroes. I read here and there that the ship doesn't appear for very long but it's absolutely not a problem, because its appearance is SUPER AWESOME, one of the best moments in this trilogy IMHO. The only issue are the (mince comment dit-on "voiles" en anglais ??? ah oui merci google...) sails because there's only one side that is printed. It's odd. Shelob Attacks may be really fine too (nice big spider, gollum mini-fig...) Not 100% sure for Helm's Deep, I can't explain why. This lego set lacks charism IMHO and I think it's a problem for such an expensive set. There's a lot of minifigs but I think some villagers trying to hide in an hidden place would have been nice, giving more playabilty. Hobbit: Unexpected Gathering because its appears in both trilogy, has some cool minifigs and the set is cute overall. Will be ok but it will take some long time to, I think. Maybe Barrel escape (because it's exclusive to T'rU) and lake-town chase. That's all for this theme for now.

So enough BPers called and emailed looking to flip this set, which made TLG incorrectly think there's big demand for this set. Now they will slowly die on store shelves. Great.

For what it's worth, my opinions: With the Unimog you're on to a winner (sure, they were available for a short period with discount, but this set sold out across the country - this speaks volumes about its popularity and likely secondary market value!). It's a Mercedes licensed product, has power functions, is MASSIVE and it's going to do well Most people think TB will make good profits based on previous Lego landmarks (Taj, Eiffel tower...), but who knows - this one has probably been hoarded more as a result (though this argument has flaws - people thought the FB was hoarded and it has nearly doubled in price just weeks after EOL...). A used set for 50% off is nice if you're planning to build yourself, but what that will fetch on the second market I have no idea (PS - regularly check Amazon.it, Amazon.fr and Amazon.es - a brand new TB in a sealed box can regularly be had for 190EUR delivered, which is about

Probably my best thrift store find ever. I found a used Fallingwater at goodwill for $5 this weekend. It's missing 3 small pieces. I've wanted one of these for years but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger at retail.

Because more people selling it potentially harms the brand more........and they don't exactly need the assistance of unchecked or loosely monitored "mom and pop" LEGO sellers as they are doing fine on their own. Brand exclusivity is a good marketing gimmick all its own.

Don't forget there are nine years of inflation between the two release dates as well. Though more importantly the specific cost increase would be in ABS plastic which no doubt rose faster than inflation due to the oil content involved. But sure, some of it is just because Lego is popular and the can charge more as the market will bear the higher prices.

1) I'm old school, and numbered bags are for sissies. I dump all the pieces out in a big pile. I also don't sort anything. The hunt for that last 1x1 round plate is part of the fun. 2) I build all the minifigs first, and add their accessories. I stare at them for a few moments and bask in their awesomeness. 3) I set them on the table, they like to watch me build.

I'm in a similar position as you but with more experience on ebay (over 1400 FB). I just started selling on Amazon in the past two weeks. In my limited experience I have found that you can get better prices on hard to find items on Amazon but the fees are higher. I sold an AS on Amazon on Sunday and got a solid price for it versus what I would have gotten on ebay right now. I am selling as an individual but if you are high volume it would probably be better to go the professional route. I find that it is very easy to list things on Amazon, they do most of the work for you if it's an item that is currently being sold on Amazon. I was also surprised that people bought from me even though I was just starting but I don't think people care because they assume that Amazon will resolve any issues that come up. So far I have been pleased with my experience and plan to continue to use both.

Honestly, yes, you hit the nail on the head for this one. Those of you that submitted some, you should see some notifications in your forum messages that they were approved. There are probably a bunch of 2014 sets in here now that can use some info.

    Jeff has to validate every entry before awarding the points. Given the site improvement projects on his plate, set information validation is likely near the bottom of his to do list

I bought 8 from Target they were cheaper and kept 2 one to open and one to keep long-term. Haven't gotten around to opening one yet perhaps this weekend and I will report back. Edit I do not have a first run so cant compare but not sure if there is any way to tell a difference. Thinking possible long-term first edition may be worth more like a Novel

I think Unexpected Gathering 79003 is going to have one of the best growth rates. Not saying it is the best set to get out of the whole batch, but I think it will perform extremely well given the fact that a lot of us got it at only $49. I see no reason why this set wont triple that amount by the Christmas following it's retirement. I know it was mentioned earlier, but I really want to see a Smaug! They made a dragon for 70403 and it turned out well enough. Smaug would just need to be a little bigger and scarier. He would have massive resale value! My fingers remain crossed for a Smaug!

Amazon use to be my "go to" place for most of my lego purchases until they started charging tax in NJ last year. I now buy much more from the Lego store and Lego LEGO Shop at Home for the same cost pretty much, but get the VIP points.

Never sold out in the Australian store and in pretty sure I can buy more than one. I highly doubt it will retire. These sets will be back in full force in a few months. Wait and see

As a new investor or seller, you need to be aware that your profit of selling now is far less than 80 as you think you would have earned. After fees and shipping, you probably looking at 40~50. Hold and let it grow.

A new one gets $250-300 in usd. May see a little more growth but has likely peaked.

It's funny. I work in a automobile dealership. A new redesigned model comes out and a bunch of guys will be standing around saying, how terrible it looks. Then someone will walk around the corner and say," have you seen the new model, it's beautiful". No difference I guess, except for the investment side. Let's face it, everyone has a opinion of future worth. Educated and not but, still guesses. Going to the Lego store today, to decide for myself.

Built the power armor lex with my four year old. Really neat set. I can see why it will be a good investment.

It includes the Flash, which is probably the biggest plus. If it remains the only set with that figure, it will boost value. As far as buying goes, no, just no. WAY too early to do that unless you come across and substantial discount. Unless something changes, the set will likely be out for around 2 years (gonna say I minimum 18 months is likely), so plenty of time in the future. Overall 76012 is pretty neat, and is sure to be very, very popular once it`s released. Counting on it to be a solid investment as well, provided people don`t start stocking it like the Funhouse and crushing the value
