What I do in these situations is provide the buyer with the phone number and address of his local post office (you can find it easily by typing his zip code and "post office phone number" into Google). I tell him to call or visit the post office and ask to speak to the carrier that scanned the package as "delivered". I give him a good description of exactly what his package looked like (appearance, materials, color, dimensions) and tell him that if the carrier and/or the postmaster can't locate the package, they can assist him in filing a lost/stolen item claim. This is an issue between the buyer and his post office, or the buyer getting mail regularly stolen off his porch. You can, just out of niceness, send him a replacement if you want, but in my opinion you certainly don't owe him one and he will be MUCH better served in future if he gets his post office to deliver his packages and/or does something about the security of the packages that get left at his door.

Unless we virtually fall off the wagon and break the virtual seals on our virtual investments for our own virtual use. That would virtually suck.

Below you will find a compiled listing for every Series of Minifigures under the year they were released. You can also find your way to each series' thread poll by clicking on the nearby Poll link (if available). Series 1-8 used a standard size box capable of containing 60 minifigures. For Series 9, Lego started using a smaller box holding half that amount causing the ratio to be drastically altered and more concrete than prior ratios. However, they seem to have gone back to using the older size 60s with a "3-4-5" formula over the "2-4-6" one. Since 2011, it has become standard practice for Lego to release three new series' a year totaling up to 48 minifigures. Their release dates are as follows: 1st Series - January 2nd Series - May 3rd Series - September Each series is typically discontinued roughly 3-4 months after hitting the market making their availability very brief. To coincide with the Minifigures Online MMO, each character from Series 12 onwards has a special code to unlock it in the game printed on the included pamphlet. I assume eBay would side with you in a dispute (you know what they sat about assume...), what to do about it is up to you. Personaly I don't like to send out "freebies" in situations like this, but Ive spent waaay to much time in retail and am kind of an a-hole about anything that even remotely smells of theft.

I have used http://www.kinek.com and it works pretty well. It's a service for receiving and holding your stuff, they have various points just south of the US-Can border. That implies you need to go grab it, and pay importation duties on the way back (ouch!). The last time, they charged $28 for holding my stuff (I was also charged some $200 in importation duties).

Nice score on the newer Ninjago sets. I think my oldest would trade his younger brother for a Mechdragon.

I used to have such a thing until a good friend moved just across the border (obviously that is ideal!) but it is definitely worth it for very large sets and exclusives that are way more expensive up here. I can't recommend getting a US address enough - totally worth it. I timed my pick-ups to be more than 48 hrs and would bring my wife so I could really fill up the car with sets.

Absolutely. Think this type of point is missed so much because people will only look at the theme, or the build, or whatever else. These sets dealing with older stuff are HUGE. They bring people to Lego. One of my co-workers saw the Delorean and had to have it. He "bought" it for his son. Now they are buying Lego sets like crazy and he is talking about buying the Camper Van. One could argue the Delorean just brought in two new fans, one that could be lifelong (his kid).

I didn't say anyone was wrong, people need to look at the bigger picture with some of these sets. There are peripheral benefits that shouldn't be overlooked.

People need to stop over thinking this set looking for bad news. At worst, this set will bring loads of new AFOL to the market. And once they are hooked, they'll be looking for all of the sets that they missed. BTTF, Simpsons, Ghostbusters, etc are all focused on bringing the post-college 80s children back to LEGO now that they have disposal income.

I think it was smart to pass on the Mindstorm set, for sure.

There will always be market corrections where the supply (# of resellers) exceeds the demand (# of collectors). This will drive prices down temporarily until the demand picks back up. I believe that LEGO is a brand that spans generations. More adult LEGO fans (even investors) is a good thing, trust me. I've already seen the impact it has in my own family. I left the Dark ages just two months ago and I already have a strong following of new LEGO fans (mostly kids, some adults). This is how demand is created: through brand recognition and pure enjoyment of the product. Kids love LEGO. Adults love LEGO. There are few toys that have passed the test of time. LEGO is one of them. I'm all-in. Not for investing purposes, but because I love the product. If I never sell a set, I'll be OK with that. I can always give some to family. In fact, that's part of my plan. To build a legacy. How cool would it be to give a sealed set that you can't find in the store to a youngster who is in love with LEGO. Maybe he/she saw the review on YouTube that was recorded 5+ years ago. "Dad, I really wish we could buy that set. I wish it was still in the stores."...then you give it to them for Christmas. You can't put a price on that, my friends. Build a Legacy. Enjoy the journey.

I love it when people compare sets now with sets that appreciated 300% before Lego Investing was really popular. Same thing with FB. Anyone that thinks it will come close to even the Green Grocer is smoking something.
