Jeff and I temporarily banned him. I know he has been a hot topic around here, but to be quite honest, the conversations were heading down the wrong path. Talk of illegally avoiding taxes and customs fees is not what this site is about. Maybe these discussions were not instigated by him, but other members dealing with him mentioned it. While Mark might be a large LEGO investor, he certainly handled his introduction on the site improperly. Telling people to contact him to sell him their 41999s for cash with your second or third post pushed my hot button. I would have hoped that Mark would have reached out to Jeff or I and asked us if it was OK to solicit on the site, but we received no such communication. There is more at stake here than some large reseller buying up sets. Many of you don't know who or what entities contact us about content on the site and what is allowed and what is not. There are proper channels to go through and he did not go through them. If any of you would like to contact him and explain to him that he needs to explain his intentions on this site to Jeff and I, we will reconsider lifting the ban. I would like to hear what he has to say myself, but not at the cost of having some members dominate the discussion over personal prices, fees and other topics that might not involve the majority of members.

No offense, but I think asking to price match at 50% or more for two carts full of Lego is just too aggressive. It worked for you before because you got lucky, it wasn't suppose to work.

Just curious but once the Crawler turns one shouldn't it turn into a Walker? Then when it hits its terrible two's it may be a Runner.

To be honest, I'd buy none of them right now. Can someone please explain to me the wisdom in buying a set that is not close to retirement at full retail? To me all that is is lost capital and opportunity. The only time I ever buy sets for medium/long term investment at full retail is when they are very very close to EOL or have already gone EOL in some regions and I'm picking off the last few I can find. If you're in this game to maximise your profits then you don't want to be buying any of these sets unless you can get them at a decent discount. If profit maximisation is not your thing then sure, go ahead and buy whatever, whenever. If forced to choose one it would be the HH as I mentioned previously as that is most likely the closest one to EOL. Sure, the other two may have better returns once they retire, but anyone espousing buying the Tower of Orthanc right now as an investment is having a laugh.

Here is something I have wanted to put together for some time. Working on Brick Classifieds, I realized I had already made a few bits of code that will work well for finding out the value of some of these listings we find on eBay and Craigslist. Is this eBay listing really worth $1799? Go ahead, try out the new tool and find out. I think you will find that it is overpriced!! Use the tool to make people offers on their lots. Send them to the site so they can find out for themselves. It's Very Simple to Use!!! I worked it out so that for many of the listings, you can just paste in their list of set numbers and set titles. When you hit the "Process Sets" button, you will see that it will strip out the text and process the set numbers it finds. It will allow you to remove or change listings if some are not correct. It will also identify left over numbers that it can't match to a set. In most cases this could be the numbers that are for quanity or soemthing else. Just ignore and hit the "Get Set Values" button at the bottom. Here is where you will get all the sets in that lot with their current values and lot total. You can change the condition from "New" to "Used" and also update the quantity of each set. It will automatically change the totals on the fly. You need to be a member to use this feature, so please log in and go to the tool. Like I mentioned earlier, this could be a tool for negotiating better deals bundles/lots. It's also a good tool to just find out the value on a few sets quickly. Right now it defaults to the US values, but there is a option to change to the other 3 regions to see what the sets are valued at in the UK, EU and AUS Let me know what you think, any enhancements that may make it better or any bugs you run into. Hopefully you find it usefully. I know I have used it to talk to a few sellers already. A link to this tool can be found in the Tools and Data menu on the main site. Check out this lot on eBay - it's actually offered for a really good price (I used the new lot calculator and came up with approximately $22K in value counting only one of each set (and there are definitely some with multiples). Two cart fulls of Lego and trying to price match a clearance sale from another store is far more absurd.

I never put anything on credit either. EDIT: That's not entirely accurate. I'll use a credit card to get the points but I never buy anything I can't pay at the end of the month. No questions asked. The majority of interest rates are much larger than the growth on most Lego sets.

I recently placed a LEGO Shop at Home order for one big set (Arkham Asylum) and one small set (Halloween accessory kit), and when I checked the status of the order, it said "customer service." However, I never needed to call them or anything. Within two days, the order had shipped. I've placed two more orders since, and both have gone through just fine. Probably just a random audit.

No big deal. LEGO audits many transactions now. It will fix itself most likely.

It's probably nothing, Lego just has occasional backlogs in processing orders. They MIGHT be manually stripping same-month orders of the free stuff (holiday set in this case) because they MIGHT be starting to enforce a one-per-household rule. Or, they might just have a backlog and it's no big deal.

Sauromosis, you are right. I didn't change every "new" flag to "used", so the $22K is a calculation of the new price. Good catch. The lot calculator is fine - it was definitely user error on my part with the $22k valuation.

Hey everyone. I hate when people intentionally try to scam the system. But lets lighten up on Dallas20. He didn't know he was doing anything outside of the rules! And why would he? He had done it several times before and was never told he couldn't. In fact, the manager who made the ridiculous statement about keeping stuff on the shelves, STILL hasn't told him you can't price match clearance, you can't price match a % discount, and you cant price match off of a receipt! Now that he knows the rules, he has no intention of trying to circumvent them. Its one thing to intentionally scam the system. I dont see this as the case here. Give the guy a break.

People doing stuff like this is the reason the rest of us have to jump through hoops when we try to do a legitimate price match.

I'm primarily a collector and builder first, so I usually wait for a good sale to buy anything, and then I'll buy 2. One I'll build right away, and the other I'll stash in the closet for later resale. I will also buy sets from themes I'm not interested in, but are speculated to do well after retirement since this well net me some profit, and I won't be tempted to build it.

I hope you didn't do this knowing TRU pricematch policy in advance. If the manager knew they were clearance priced items she would have had the opportunity to tell you an honest reason why you can't have any of them. Sometimes I'm really disappointed in hearing the lengths people go to in trying to save money on Lego. The most absurd comment by a manager? I'm not sure about that. I think a TRU manager can just ask a person to leave the store at any one point. I am sadly sure there will be a day where I read a topic about that happening and I don't think it's far off.

According to new LEGO LOT calculator these sets are worth roughly 440$... Now if you want to sell them (fast) you should discount them for 35-40%! So roughly for 250-275$ would be realistic value

Unfortunately most cashiers at places like Target, Walmart and TRU get very little training and usually rely on more "senior" employees to show them tricks of how to use the registers. I'm guessing that this store (along with nearly every store I can think of) has a policy of issuing a refund on the first item, then scanning the new item in. It shows a transaction took place, which is correct <you always want records in your system about the day's activities>. What the useless employees failed to realize is that they just ought to do a price override on the newly scanned item to price match. Then they fill in their little piece of paper that nobody ever reads saying "price match on return of damaged item from target.com."

I'm saying they paid nothing for them...they're stolen. Even a half-wit parent would know to take them back to a store if they were birthday gifts.

The seller would need to require signature confirmation since the item is over $250. If DNIIM opens the door and sees the mailman delivering a letter or something that feels like an empty box, he can deny delivery and therefore avoid signing for the package.

All I can say to that is "bring it!" Thanx for all the support everyone. I know there are ways to get around this issue, but for the life of me I was not expecting there to be a problem, and I must say I was caught off guard. Or another way to put it is that I was blindsided by stupidity!!!

I'm not going to get into an argument, but if LEGO used alpha-numeric license plates, there could be millions of combinations and LEGO is very good at keeping things private, so it would not be hard to keep the total production numbers accessible to a select few employees. LEGO has a lot more lawyers than most LEGO fans do and I am sure there is many loopholes around your slam dunk theory. For one thing, the wording of the set description can be argued. I found it to be somewhat ambiguous myself. Also, did the description say only 20,000 were to be released in one or multiple countries? Maybe each country will get their own 20,000 Crawlers. Point is, it was a hypothetical idea. You would have to prove damages and LEGO could say you are violating their own Terms of Use. They made no promise of value of the set increasing because of the exclusivity, just that it would be limited.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the pics. Thx for the warning on the crushed boxes on the bottom, most of the pics were taking before I boxed everything up, so they weren't stacked for too long, as I'm pretty picky about my boxes as well. I own a donut shop that's over 3,000 s.f., and I only need about half of that s.f. for my business, so I a have couple storage rooms that I can use for legos...probably enough to hold about 500k in legos, so I don't have to worry about space. =) Plus, my shop is open 24 hrs, so there's always someone guarding my legos. lol I started investing about 2 yrs ago, and i'm up to about 75k, on my last count. That's with roughly 25-30k cash invested, a lot of work flipping sets, and a little help from my buddy Chris Weidman. lol My plan is to get to 250k in 2-3 yrs, then cash out half of it, to put down on a house, and rebuild my stash. Here's couple pics of some boxed up legos, and those darn FB's! (my first investment) =( I'm sure everyone struck out with those. Btw, I wanted to thank Ed, and Jeff for creating this site! It's awesome, and one of the best ideas ever! And also, thx to everyone for being so nice in here. I think this is a much nicer crowd than brickset.
