Wow. We went to 3 lego stores this morning looking for more crawlers....gone. Every store was sold out and no more coming. That was bittersweet news for obvious reasons. The great news for all of us...you could barely walk in ALL 3 of these stores! I've never seen them thus crowded...not even at Christmas. People were walking out with ewoks and opera houses....I couldn't believe it! Kids were buying chima..and knew all the characters and tribes. Now with walmart,target, and even tru nearly doubling their lego space...this is just starting to take off. They had 3 registers going at burlington...and still lines of people. Never seen this. Best thingI overheard was an eldery couple asking where the harry potter was! Said their grandson was asking for a few sets and they had been everywhere that morning looking for them.

The only sets we build are the ones I pull from the stash for my kid's birthdays or Christmas. I've got over 500 sets locked away in my basement, and I don't have the urge to build a single one. It's called willpower, and that's why drug dealers never getter hooked on their own supply. I look at my supply as an extension of my savings (which it is), which makes it easier to keep them sealed. I satisfy my urges when the kids get a new set. I separate the pieces, locate them for each step, and apply the decals. My kids do the building. Fun times.

I was looking for advice on storage of Lego sets. I currently have them wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in 27 gallon totes. I have to many to keep in the house and wanted to get your thoughts about storing them in my garage. I live in Central California so the weather is upper 90's in the summer and the 30's in the winter. Thanks for any input.

Hey everybody. I just moved to Tucson, AZ from Las Vegas. I'm prior military and have been all over the world (I assembled an X-Wing in Iraq and an Imperial Shuttle in Northwestern Africa). I never really thought of Legos as an investment. That is until I decided to put my 10174 and my 10175 up for auction on the bay. I paid less than a hundred bucks for each set and unbelievably both sets sold for over, WAY over retail.....and that was with no box!!! The AT-ST sold for a buck fifty and the Tie went for 250. As awesome as that was for me it was less awesome to see what they were going for still boxed lol. Anyways, I LOVE Legos and would love to collect and build as many sets as I can. I also collect comic books and with comic books I've been able to find lots of books that I can flip and use the profits to get the books that I want to keep for my private collection. I'm hoping the same can be done with Legos. So after a bit of Google-fu I found this site and have been really excited at how much information is available here. Hope to meet up with some good guys on the site and not be much of a pain. Thanks guys!!! I do have a few quick questions though. Is there a way to know if something is gonna go on sale??? I see tons of listings where guys say "its a good deal if you can get it for 50%). Where do I find those deals and is there a way to be notified of them??? When sets are to be EOL do they get marked down considerably??? Is Christmas the best time to find deals on Lego sets??? What typically is a deal that cant be passed up?? For instance I've found a site where I can get 20% off a set I want. Is this safe?? Or will I be regretting a better price down the road??? Thanks again!!!

great idea on the expanding file. I will pick up a couple the next time I am out. I am tired of always digging through a huge bin of instruction books trying to find one.

I see someone has some Doctor Who sets... I wish I had them. I am currently just using a closet storage shelves. My collection is way less than 50 boxes. I have them wrapped up in the bags they come in just to prevent being overly dusty and such. For opened sets, I use plastic bags and label the set number. I then use a Expanding File to keep all the directions in one place safely.

it appears as if they didn't set up their email to make the transaction, aka your money is floating in cyberspace in a holding pattern. As far as I know your money is safe at the moment. Sounds fishy though, like the auction you bidded at might not be legit, or you have a dumb seller. You should be able to get your money back though if it doesn't go through

Its not really just about the price, maybe I should be more descriptive - its No pictures, no real explanation of condition, no attempt to do anything to make it justify the price. Ebay is turning into Craigslist.

You're right. Every retail and individual seller should have their items priced at the exact amount of every other retail and individual seller...because the consumer, being so savvy, patient, and educated, never pays above market value for things.

They don't even have any real photos. WILL NEVER SELL. Honestly I think some sellers just post things to get their wife/husband/gf/bf off there back. "Well they didn't sell, I guess I'll have to keep them"

With all minifigures we already seen? I think Lego should get a massage - roman and spartan soldiers were among the most popular ones. Where did I see that "rumor logo" for Mythology theme... here and here

Just depends on the buyer I guess. I personally would provide a copy in either fashion you suggested. Doesn't seem like it would cut to much into your profits....depending on how much you paid for the lot. Good luck whichever you decide!

I think that at a discount they all with have limited to good success for investors.

Hey The Lost Boys (referring to movie poster in background). God I love that movie. I just told Ed a story the other day when I was first getting into programming, I would stay up to all night, working at this garbage and watched 3 movies on a non stop cycle. Jaws, The Lost Boys and The Fog. Every now and then I would throw The Burbs in. At this point, I can give the dialog to all those movies at a moments notice. What amazing talents I have

I have had a few people E-mail me and tell me they don't believe that I really have alot of Ninjago 2507 and 9450 sets, and think the Epic Battle set is not a good investment. So i figure I would just show what I have. Anybody thinks that the 9450 Epic battle Dragon will not be worth getting as many as you can for a good price My advice get as many as you can afford from now to Christmas, There have only been 2 big sets with Ninjago, and hopefully with the new 2014 sets there will be one more. Look at the 2507 Fire Temple Set, $91.00 Black Friday Sale last year, and the price is close to $175-200 on ebay will be more aroundChristmas, now anybody buying the 9450 Epic Battle would suggest holding on to them, don't panic around Christmas and sell them, you will be sorry wait til 2014 & 2015. So I have 44 Epic Dragon Battle, and 31 Fire Temple sets. Ed

If its a jazz musician it probably won't come with an instrument, instead it will have a bag of dope and its teeth will be all rotted out.
