CREATURE58 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I have come across some good deals on 10188 Star Wars Death Star, 10221 Star Wars Super Destroyer and 10214 Creator Expert Tower Bridge Play Set. All are NEW but without the boxes. They come with the manuals and everything. How much of a hit will I take for this later on down the road? Quote
isocleas Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hard to say. Are the inner bags/boxes still sealed? If so I'd normally would just say buy replacement boxes on ebay, as there is a blog about box damage not having much of an affect on final sale price. http://blog.brickpicker.com/the-impact-of-box-condition-on-lego-investing/ But the premise of that argument is that most people are buying to build even in the secondary market so box damage isn't a serious issue to someone who's just going to open it anyways. However with these sets being so collectible I think you'll be losing a lot more potential buyers than you would with say an ultra sonic raider or vampyre hearse. Quote
Noodlenut Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Because they are not retired yet, you should be able to find the boxes on Bricklink for a reasonable price. Even if you did not want to buy the boxes, you would still have a good investment in the long run. It is hard to find exclusives like this for any amount less than retail price. Quote
MrMorden Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 With this kind of deals its always good to make sure the bags with the minifigures are all there. Quote
CREATURE58 Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 All bags are there and sealed. Nothing is missing only the boxes. I'm not sure but I checked on Lego.com and they are sold out on the Super star destroyer, does that mean they aren't making anymore? Quote
glenbart Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 If you are selling now or when the item is at the time of eol having no box a damaged box etc will not have that big an mpact on what you can sell it for, for one thing you may be able to offer cheaper postage, however as soon as it becomes a target for collectors being a collectors item the price difference will be dramatic. CREATURE58 Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 That's good to hear. I'm not going to sell them right now, I got the two star wars for $100 each and the bridge for $50 Quote
isocleas Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Yeah, you should have posted this in the "Deal or ******* Amazing Deal" forum. Quote
isocleas Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I was just messin about, congratulations on the find. Getting exclusives at 75% of retail is unheard of, box or no box. Quote
Noodlenut Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Sorry, I'm new. That's alright. We all were at one point. Quote
