Can any body tell me why this set is the only non starwars ucs ser? And what would u say a good buying price is for a used one with box and instructions because i want too add one to me collection?

I have this set and I will say under $120 will be a good price for used one with box (for collection purpose). The batmobile looks awesome, but just like many star war USC set, it is not minifig scale.

There is also a Cars UCS McQueen. Not much happening with it though.

Back on topic.....I think LEGO used this set as a test run for non star wars UCS sets, maybe it did t work out so well for them.

The sandcrawler will probably never happen. The Rumor is that there will be a Sydney Opera House that will be in that piece range.

They started UCS with Star Wars because they knew Star Wars fans were the only ones "crazy" enough to buy Lego sets over a $100 price point --- hahaha

As far as adding a used one to your collection, I see Bricklink has a used one for $125...

My friends brother got one of these a few years ago, and left it unopened for a year or two before building it and letting it fall apart. The waste...

I used to have 3 of these. Sold 2 boxed ones for a small profit a few years ago and had one on display in my house for a long time. Decided to sell it when I moved house and I kind of regret that now. It's a great looking set.

As far as Lego is concerned, there is no such thing as UCS anymore(hasn't been for a few years now). You won't see that designation on any sets. The Orthanc is not UCS, it is simply an exclusive set, hence the number designation. OP is correct is saying the Batmobile is the only other non-Star Wars UCS set.

That is incorrect and untrue, set 10225 Clearly says UCS on Lego's website and it was released In 2012....

I have always regretted not picking these up. I always wanted one for the collection, waited for it to get cheaper and then they all dried up.

Some local guy is trying to off one on Craigslist for 200. Has yet to come down on it so I doubt I'll be doing anything about it.

Couple of different question I'm hoping to get answered.

1. Short of counting every piece in the bags, is there somewhere that can tell me how many bags of lego should be in a set?

2. I know collectors would want the most pristine condition box, but if a set had a battered box but sealed bags, would that sway in favour for that set, say against a great condition box but built model?

3. This all leads to my latest find - an absolutely battered and bruised 7784 Batman UCS Batmobile with sealed bags (minus tyres which are loose). I'm reluctant to put this on ebay yet until I can definitely guarantee that this ay full set in the condition, apart from the box, that it would been. Would the tyres be loose like I found them?

Tires come loose in technic sets, probably ok. 

loose pieces are quite common in sets. I suggest checking out prices of used sets with instructions, I think this set is seeing an increase in price recently, may be worth keeping hold of it for a while.

The set is already very collectable, if there is going to be a UCS tumbler it can only add to this sets appeal as the two will compliment each other, plus, the UCS tumbler if released will probably spur people to want both. if the set is sealed in bags, you can expect people no to be too bothered about the box, but as I say, maybe wait till the UCS tumbler release to see your batmobile hit unprecedented popularity.

It's a tempting thought to keep hold of the box until the Tumbler is released.

Unfortunately one of the reasons I want to sell is to raise money for my wedding lol

rumours are this year, but nobody knows, I saw one new in bags, crumpled box sell for 50 quid buy it now... I should have pounced on it.

There is no guarantee of a Tumbler UCS, and I would think Marvel would get the next big exclusive to keep the Super Hero theme a little more balanced.

 

Shame you're in the UK, I'm looking for a 7784 to display so I don't care about box quality.
