Hello all. New to Lego. On a basic learning curve.

Can someone help please.? Iv'e been lucky enough to obtain a power set. However I do not know the Lego number of the items. I know that a some future date I will be able to insert these into sets. But if the set itemises particular motor function, how will I know if it fits. I've tried to find details on various sites, but am at a loss. Information or direction would be most helpful please.

I know that they are M, L, XL, and Servo. But do various sets refer to numbers. Am I missing something?

I don't know if these are even legit LEGO parts, I would guess they are aftermarket parts.

M = 8883

L = 88003

XL = 8882

Servo = 88004

Power controller hub = 88009
